Lenovo Tablet M10 3rd Gen 4+64GB + Folio Case $99.99 @ ALDI

2360

At $199 it was a bargain.
At $149 it was a steal.
Now, at $100 it's just desperate!

(Remember to let staff know these are stashed away under the cashiers' counters, when asking at the store.)

Ah that's good to know. I'll take a look at it. The main problem was with the homepage apps, if you swiped over an app to switch pages, the icon would lift up like it was selected. If you touched another part of the screen, the icon would all of a sudden be moved to that location.

        • Yep, precisely that. So annoying! I also uninstalled mostly all Lenovo's bloatware too (especially that useless media backscreen in the launcher). I might give Nova a try; I've used it in other devices too.

          • @wisdomtooth: Ah yes, there was a fair bit of bloatware. So glad it was easy to uninstall. I just kept the Lenovo app. I've had Nova for years and has been great when there's a launcher that looks like crap or performs badly. Runs very smoothly, too.

            • @phatbass82: Prime or free? You use it on your phone? Our phones are all Xiaomi, and we're pretty content with miui — not much to complain about. Just turn off all the personalised ads and stuff. It seems to have the same features as Nova, and more. I've used Nova on media boxes/sticks, though.

              • @wisdomtooth: Prime all the way. I used to use it on my older phones, but not now. I've been happy with Samsung's UI One for some years now. Mostly find myself using Nova on tablets

                • @phatbass82: What do you need on the paid version that is not on the free one; gestures? Do you have to pay for each installation, or one license is enough for all devices?

I managed to get dust on it trying to get it on, threw it out the first day. It seemed pretty useless for falls (it may be good for scratches but im not that fussed about scratches) Ordered tempered glass ones but they are travelling via scenic route (Auspost) from Perth so it may be awhile lol

I hate putting screen protectors on in general. I'm the opposite, just need it for scratches rather than falls so the thin ones are usually ok for me.

  • No chance anyone in greater Brisbane has another? Happy to meet up or pay small shipping fee.

    • None left anywhere on the Sunshine Coast…

      • I just got another one today (for $99.99) from ALDI Kawana, just to prove you wrong 😄

        • Hey! If there are still some left, may I ask you to get one for me? Happy to pay you extra for your troubles. Dm me.. thank you..

        • Wow, I tried there last week and the had none! I guess it depends who you speak to…!

          • @enthusiast: I knew where they kept them, under the counter, and just pointed it out to the cashier. And with it managed to repo-return the previous ones I had already repo-returned down from $199 to $149, now to $99 😃

I've spoken to three separate Aldi's and all of them told me they've never heard of these tablets. Is this a troll post?

    • +2

Sure, sure, a "troll post" with 226 upvotes, 164 followers, 5 pages of comments and receipts to show for 🙄

I just picked one up today for $99 in Campbeltown NSW. I asked if they had any and the guy said yes. He went out the back and grabbed one. I asked how much and he said $136 (I think). I showed him the posted receipt and he said he'd go and check to see what he could do. A few mins later he returned with a thumbs up. Very nice and helpful staff member too.

    • Thanks for confirming you could buy one today.

Do you happen to know if they still have some left as I am thinking of getting one on the weekend?

      Cheers

I didn't think to ask but he didn't hesitate to say he had them in stock so I'd guess they had a few…hopefully. I won't be going back there again for a while so can't check sorry. Good luck both of you.

Thanks joe, much appreciate your reply to me and enjoy the tablet

  • Bit late to the party, any in Vic?

    • Doubtful. Never hurts to ask though.

      • Most Aldi staff I initially asked didn't seem to know what it was, or be aware of the special. You have to specifically ask them to look under the cashier counter for a "computer tablet" or an "iPad-like thing".

haha, yes at one store I asked the cashier if they had any of the lenovo tablets, she said "tablets? you mean like panadol?"

@bamzero: This reminded of my friend who was ask where the bulbs where as they were in the plant section of the shop he worked in. He proceeded to tell them where the electrical stuff was.

Using the one I bought and very happy with it, but the pop-up ads are a pain in the rear.
I assume that is the Lenovo bloatware at work, can anyone advise which app I need to disable/uninstall? TIA

    • +2

Forget the name but its the one that scans/cleans something. Sorry, deleted it on the first day and dont remember the name. Think its not Lenovo but a third party app.

    • +2

I'd say just wipe the slate clean (so to speak) as you soon as you turn it on for the very first time; delete everything you can, and disable everything you can't. Then install what you actually need (YouTube reVanced, Stremio, etc).

      • +1

Vanced is great and I use it all the time. What's Stremio?

        • +2

I'm sure you'll find out soon enough 😃

Vanced is dead. Long live reVanced!

I uninstalled all the extra apps that weren't Google related except for "Tablet Center". Pretty much every added app was bloatware crap. Working like a dream still.

      • I'm still getting erratic behaviour from the launcher; do you get it too? Have you uninstalled the media centre to the left of the first launcher page?

        • +2

I uninstalled everything that wasn't android/google default. I don't remember there being a media centre. That probably went too lol. Default player is pretty bad. If you are playing media, would recommend something like VLC or MX Player Pro. I've still stuck with Nova Launcher Prime since the weird icon glitch and haven't had any issues with the launcher since.

        • +1

Me too. I also use Nova launcher and finding the base launcher crashing.

The work around i've found personally is to go into settings, then switching from 3 button navigation to swipe navigation, then moving around a bit and then switching it back.

If I don't do this, the apps in the background aren't accessible and the whole table hard crashes soon after.
