Lenovo Tablet M10 3rd Gen 4+64GB + Folio Case $99.99 @ ALDI

2360

At $199 it was a bargain.
At $149 it was a steal.
Now, at $100 it's just desperate!

(Remember to let staff know these are stashed away under the cashiers' counters, when asking at the store.)

            • @paulaus: Happy to take it from you if you don't need it.. Please let me know.. 😁

            • @paulaus: Yeah, I was told that too by a cashier. I threw the Aldi policy book at her. She backed down.

Here's an infallible strategy: first buy a new one at the lower price, then return it with the previous, higher receipt. If they don't take it back, go to another store. If that still fails, return it with the new, lower receipt, and in the worst case, trying hasn't cost you any money (just time).

              • @wisdomtooth: problem is there is no stock around where i live so i cant purchase another one first at 99.99

      • Really the only thing you can really expect to do is if there is stock available at a cheaper price is buy that and refund with old receipt within the 60 days.
They don't have a price drop policy so under no obligation to refund you the difference if it drops after you buy, but if they do then lucky I guess.
But if there's no other stock there, whos to say what the price is? Price drops aren't nation wide, but at managers discretion. I can go to one store with old stock at full price and another 15 mins away where it's already reduced.

Keep in mind each state as multiple "regions" for ALDI stores, each region manages it owns clearance and price changes.

To the guy who came in tonight, demanding we check every box and cupboard out the back to find the hidden tablets, I hope you wake up in a better mood tomorrow.

    • Kevin spotted.

    • Just wish they kept products on the stock checker longer than they do…

      • Unfortunately the systems stock levels include goods which are returned and sent back to DC. These inventory movements and corrective counts can take days, weeks and even months to be resolved.

The stock checker would become further inaccurate each day.

Is anyone else tempted to go The Full Elon and run this tablet as a 10-inch entertainment screen aboard the family truckster?
It should be able to run Here maps offline and you could download your playlists from your favourite music app. Anyone have experience with running Android Auto on a tablet?

    • Offline? Why? Hotspot it from your phone.

    • I do this with a Tab a7 lite, but the A7 lite kinda sucks

  • Has anyone tried Fortitude Valley? I will check at lunch otherwise

    • +2

I went they said they did not receive any

      • Doubt it. They probably thinking of something else, and of the current deals. You need to have them check under the cashiers' counters. They may be sold out, but sure enough all stores got some.

        • +1

The local aldi refused to check under the counters, said that they hadn't had them for months. Wouldn't even search using the code. Very cheesed.

          • @Jazza2400:

said that they hadn't had them for months.

They're certainly thinking of something else then; I don't recall ALDI ever selling tablets before.

Is it good for video calls?

  • +2

Just saw a person get 2 from Riverwood Aldi. But at $139 per item

    • +1

The tablet at Riverwood is a bundle with a folio case for $139, still a bargain.
Two OzB's got theirs at 1pm and another for sale is under front counter checkout.

      • I got the folio case version for $99

    • +1

The last one is water damaged at Riverwood not worth the risk

  • I heard that these tablets are really slow and lacking in updates…

    • Not mine. I heard that 2nd Gen ones are slow; not the case here.

    • I bought one (two actually) and compared to my old galaxy s8 smartphone (not a complete apples to apples comparison I know), it's a little bit faster with a newer operating system.

If you are just using it for streaming video and browsing websites, it's more than enough.

How are people checking stock levels? Its not appearing on the stick checker page as a product?

    • +3

Its not appearing on the stick checker page as a product?

Aldi's stock checker only checks current specials. This is one they're stuck with from a month ago.

How are people checking stock levels?

      In person.

  • Has anyone checked stock around Hawthorn VIC?

Edit: so annoying how you can't just ring stores anymore /rant

    • +1

Just scored one in Abbotsford for $119 (see my other comment). They still some 5 left, just ask them to check at the back.

    • Did you end up finding any around Hawthorn for $100? Does Camberwell have any left?

  • +2

None at Albury according to the great service I got from a guy who did not know what the word "tablet" meant then suddenly followed up with "oh no we sold out" when I told him it was a special buy from a few weeks ago.

Got one from Lavington instead at an inflated $119.

  • +1

    Thanks OP. Just got one.

They first said they didn't have any, so I asked them to check under the counter, and there it was!

Will make a decent replacement for my toddler's old Samsung Tab A, which is about to die any day now.

Hopefully it's fast enough for the daily use.

    • Can you sell me yours? I'll pay extra.

      • Sorry, I had already opened the box before your message..
Maybe visit an Aldi and ask employee to check if it is in stock anywhere. They check and sometimes call that store and ask them to hold it for you (They do it for Special buys)

I'm happen to be on holiday in Gold Coast. Picked up 2 at ALDI Mermaid Waters for $99 each they seem to have plenty. Though when I asked they had them out the back not at the cashier checkouts…

    • Hi Karakaan, I have sent you a pm. 🙂

  • +1

They were in the office when I got one yesterday, still 14 left, folio case version.

  • +2

    Found one earlier in NSW.
Had to go to a few stores before I found one.

Apparently there is still stock around but the cashiers won’t know where it is.

I had to speak w the store manager who may or may not know where it is and depending on how helpful they are, they might find U one.

    $99.99 for cash payment
    $100.48 for card payment

    • May I know which store you got it? Thanks..

    • +2

$100.48 for credit card payment (or paywave, which is treated as a small credit transaction, bc it's processed via VISA/MC networks instead of EFTPOS, hence why cash out is not an option for tapping) — that's Aldi's 0.5% credit card surcharge, which they've been charging on everything, not just tablets, for a decade.

  • I'd rather get some cheap tablet from Aliexpress tbh. If it was $99 and reliably in stock it would be an absolute bargain but better tablets for $150 have been posted here. And this is a wild goose hunt. One caveat though is that a lot of generic branded tablets are scams like tab 6 pro which I had refunded. This is typical of the cheap non branded tablets often listed as having snapdragon 870 (stay away from these). But at least Aliexpress reliably refunds almost any purchase.

Alldocube, teclast, doogee even though they sound fake are proper china brands.

    • But at least Aliexpress reliably refunds almost any purchase.

      No they dont.
Getting refunds from Aliexpress now used to be as simple as making a request, now they make you jump through hoops, depending on the issue you cant even give the seller 'sufficient evidence', and more often than not Aliexpress sides with the sellers now.

But agree about the tablets. At $99 its a bargain, at $150 its not.

At $150 its better to spend that little bit extra or wait until an Alldocube iPlay 50 deal goes live. I remember getting mine for about $170, and the specs are better (more RAM @6GB, more updated CPU Unisoc T618 vs T610)

      • What about:

        • Warranty?
        • Android updates?
        • Netflix in HD?
        • Flimsy charging sockets that die after 6 months of use?
        • I guess you have a point about warranty although you'll only get 12 m from aldi

Alldocube has been getting updates for Android

I haven't yet opened my m10 yet so i cant comment on netflix HD yet, but i have been using my alldocube for about 4 months now and not once have i found it laggy or unresponsive, though some mention that of the m10.

In regards to the charging socket, i decided to put a magnetic usbc charging adapter on it so hopefully that never becomes an issue

      • I got a refund recently by raising a PayPal case against an AliExpress seller who didn't find to my nevertheless about an item that stopped working after only one recharge. It was oast the short 15 day period post-delivery when a dispute can be raised in the AliExpress mobile app.

        • +1

For a display screen paypal wanted me to return the unit to china at my own expense even though the item didnt work.

More consistently paypal seem to side with the seller

  • +1

No stock at Miranda Aldi in Sydney - apparently these were on display weeks ago and sold out quickly. She said staff were mainly the ones buying them.

  • +1

Anyone putting a tempered glass protector on it and have cheap recommendations? Amazon has a 2 pack for $10.98 but somehow estimated delivery isnt until 8 May

    • +1

Welcome to WA shipping times (when it's not in local warehouse).
So long as they ship straight away it's generally only a week, though sometimes sits there unshipped for ages then you get notification that it's coming that day via flex driver as they've transferred it to your local warehouse.

      • So 4 hours after ordering it took money from my account and the status is now listed as 'preparing for shipment'. Im hoping it does arrive sooner like you said! Last time I ordered something that had an estimated 2 week delivery it didnt actually ship until 2 days before delivery, so hopefully this will be different! Most of the Amazon listings are for the M10 plus and those have a 2-3 day delivery estimate, but there arent many for the M10.

        • What's the item? Maybe it's coming from WA warehouse. (If it's these then yep because is next day for me.)

          • @bamzero: Yep its that one, was actually editing my comment to say after fiddling around with postcodes, it was one day delivery to Perth but 2 weeks to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane so it must be coming from the west to east and hence the delay! Ty for figuring out the mystery for me, I couldnt understand it lol

            • @Rain Cloud: Yeh was going to say change your delivery postcode if you really want to work out where it's coming from :)

First time I've seen any item only in stock in WA. It's normally the reverse.

    • I might get that. I got a pair from AliEx for $8, and they sent me the wrong model. They did refund me though, but I don't want to be playing return tag every week.

    • So the item has been shipped and is being delivered by AusPost (as opposed to my usual courier) so it will probably take the two weeks to deliver, lol

  • +1

Checked South Lake and Beeliar over the last week but no stock there.

  • +2

Any in WA? Where? I’ve tried Morley, Karrinyup, Warwick and Yokine! Can’t seem to find any

    • +1

      None in Busselton.

    • None in Northam or Willetton … seemed like they weren't familiar with it at all. They were at Cannington but sold out.

  • Does anybody know of any stores in metro Sydney that sold this for $99.99? Irrespective of current stock levels.

Most seemed to be $120-140 with their final price (manager discretion), with the exception of Miranda.

  • +2

For the Gold Coast people, I picked up two last Friday from Pimpama Aldi. They had some stock left in the back but didn't say how many. Upper Coomera Aldi apparently had no stock, however, he didn't seem quite sure when he was asking over the headset for stock.

Can confirm the device is awesome for what it is, especially for $99. Performance seems really good. I've found i've left a few things open without closing them and the tablet functioned fine without slowdowns. I found the stock launcher to be a little buggy with certain touch gestures, so i installed Nova Launcher Prime and now working perfectly. Not that it matters for a pretty much 1080p device, it does struggle to play 4K videos. I use MX player pro and VLC. My kid is happy playing Minecraft on it after having played it on my gaming PC. Working on getting emulators setup. Picked up a cheap Samsung 256gb micro sd for $25 from The Good Guys and works really well - formatted out of the box as exfat and tablet recognised it straight away.

One thing that I didn't see mentioned anywhere, it does come with a screen protector which is inside the box with the folio case. Basic screen protector, absolute bitch to install lol. Despite having the cleanest screen, i still managed to get random fluff bubbles come up. Probably rip it off at some stage lol.

    • I found the stock launcher to be a little buggy with certain touch gestures

I too found it buggy… till I found it was the (not so smart) "smart lock on-body detection" that was causing the problems. Turned that off, and the bugs were gone.
