Now that top Gen 4 drives are regularly $100/TB, Gen 3 drives are only a deal around $75/TB or lower

Samsung can slow walk the discounts as much as they want but this is now a $150 drive

    i think the price factors in SLC,MLC etc. dram cache and other factors beyond just gen 3/4 pcie.
    970 EVO plus is a higher end in those areas which is why its still expensive.
    cheaper options are the samsung 980 (not pro) which has dram missing from memory
    
    edit: just ordered 1x from catch.com.au. $10 shipping. Looks OK.
