So pretty much two free games!
Not necessarily as the freebie is a new package.
It will be very easy for them to only include the Rewind AppID in the paid packages.
I suspect the freebie was meant to coincide with the the Rewind release and someone messed up the time. I guess we'll find out in about 50 minutes.
It's officially deemed as a timing mistake on the Discord channel so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
Sorry for the confusion. We're trying to sort this out. Desktop Dungeons was meant to be free when Desktop Dungeons: Rewind launched, but timings have gotten confused.
If you bought Desktop Dungeons, you will get Rewind for free. Whether it's the Desktop Dungeons: Special Edition or Desktop Dungeons, both will work and you will receive Desktop Dungeons: Rewind for free on launch.
If you claimed Desktop Dungeons for free, we have no idea what's going to happen, and we don't know how it's going to resolve until Valve get back to us.
If you buy Desktop Dungeons or Desktop Dungeons: Special Edition after the launch of Desktop Dungeons: Rewind, you will not get Rewind for free. This is why we were supposed to be giving Desktop Dungeons away for free for a bit 😄

Is bargain - first time a freebie was on my wishlist.
I thought it would have been an even better bargain, because they announced that whoever owns Desktop Dungeons would get the newly released Desktop Dungeons Unwind for free. But it looks like they just messed up with timing. Oh well, still a good freebie.

I thought it was 2 games for free. So now I found out that it's only one game for free. Not as good of an offer as originally but still better than nothing I suppose.

Wonder if this was suppose to happen. Seems strange to give it away. I wonder if they have mistimed it somehow. Steam reckons it's about 1 hour till Rewind is unlocked.
Edit: It does look like Valve may have messed up the timing. We may have picked up a free version that is different to the main version though so they may still be able to gift Rewind to only those who owned it before now.
