Anyone who gets this and expects is to be anywhere near as good as the Battlefield 6 beta is going to be in for a bad surprise. Basically the most hated Battlefield game in the history of battlefield. Even at this price I wouldn't bother, just play something else until you can and are ready to get BF6

    • Fact

Yep I haven’t played but my mate who’s an avid player said the same thing. There might be another beta round so worth playing that or waiting.

      • +3

There will not be another Beta for BF6. EA have been pretty clear about that.

2042 has just received a content update (new map, new weapons, free season pass etc) to keep the Battlefield hype going until the launch date, which is about 8 weeks away.

Personally I quite enjoy 2042, although it definitely has plenty of problems with content, balance etc. I now have about 800 hours in the game and the number of online players is very high right now. But I suspect it will be a ghost town in another 3 months time.

unpopular opinion but BF2042 (with all the updates they have made) still plays more like a battlefield game then BF6, which is basically COD at this point. Barely any vehicles, super fast movement and tiny maps.

      • You only played the beta, with the medium / small maps, and this is the conclusion you came to?

        • -1

If they had something better to show, they would have included it.

          • +1

@samfisher5986: no, they wouldn't. Have you ever played a beta that was full / best part of a game?
it's limited specifically for stress testing, bug finding, and feedback.
Anyways, if you don't like BF6, then you can stick to 2042, no issues.

    • Unfortunately the old i5-3570k struggles with BF6, a total system upgrade would cancel my Ozbargain membership and I'm not going to play such a great game on console. Sadly, cheap, synthetic hits like BF 2042 will have to do.

      • What do you mean a system upgrade would cancel your membership?

        • +1

          Mate…

          • @tessel: You think people on Ozbargain don't upgrade their systems??

            • @MrZ: Of course they do. But a true ozbargainer will spent a year building it part-by-part so as to get each individual part at it's historically low price, by which time all hype over said new game will be gone and the first parts bought are now even cheaper and so they regret bothering to wait all this time.

          • @tessel: Bruh this is ozbargain, not ozmasochism. 12 year old CPU, what exactly have you been holding out for?

At this point a system lying on the side of the road would have a pretty good chance of beating that ancient relic.

If you want a massive leap on a budget, it can't get much better than this

Not to mention FB marketplace for dirt cheap AM4 boards & ram.

          • +1

@tessel: What a weird thread - if your crap old computer can't play a new game that you actually want to play, then a true Ozbargainer upgrades their system at OzBargain prices.

There have been basic gaming PCs for under a grand recently. Entire PCs.

      • why wont you play it on console?

      • +1

        -refuses to upgrade pc
-seemingly owns console but refuses to play ‘great’ games on it
        -plays bad game instead

  • -1

Have started to play this again after the BETA ended and whoa boy, it’s such a bad Battlefield. Every level feels rushed and unfinished. The same characters in squads looks so stupid.

  • +1

FYI they just released a free battlepass which unlocks items for BF6. If you are desperate for a BF fix in a modern setting, for $4 AUD I'm sure there'll be some fun to be had.

I don't think this game is AS BAD as people say, but it's still not great. BFV is much much better, and AU servers will stay populated at least between now and October.

  • +1

its free on gamepass, at least for xbox. does PC gamepass include the EA Play titles?

it is absolutely not worth paying money for.

    • +1

You just saved me $4.49, because it is available as part of EA Play on PC (at least in Game Pass Ultimate)

  • -5

No thanks, not buying any game that doesn't have single player campaign.

  • Odd they discounted this one and not BF4 and BF1, both of which are still fairly popular (at least on PC).

  • How is the single campaign?

    • +1

No single player campaign in 2042

  • 2042 is great, it has some issues at first but was fine after the first 6 months back in 2022-2023,

they just released new iwo jima map a couple days ago which is really fun,
