It features 8 cores, 16 threads, base clock of 3.4GHz, boost clock of 4.6GHz with a default TDP of 65W. As usual if you're upgrading from 2xxx or 3xxx ensure you update your motherboard's BIOS first before installation.

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate, GST inclusive and does not stack with TCB/CR/SB shopback. Since this is a Big Save limited deal, coupons are not redeemable either.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

Ridiculous price for the best CPU since the Celeron 300A…

    • -4

I just got 2x Ryzen 7500F CPU's for $110AUD each after $20 topcashback .. That was a much better deal then this and it puts you in the AM5 platform.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/920240

      • +15

Not if you’re running on an AM4 board with an older CPU. This is a great upgrade/life extension for anyone running on a platform which dominated for 4-5 years.

        • -4

I paid $440 for my Ryzen 7 5700X :) - upgraded to a 7700 $200 Aliexpress deal system its crezy how cheap CPU's are now even with zero competition from intel..

      • +2

Why would anyone on AM4 do that? They would have to get new motherboard and ram. At this stage the AM4 users are looking to upgrade with AM6 and ddr6.

        • -2

          AM6 and ddr6 2028-2030 :) long wait

          • +4

@vid_ghost: x3d chips doing more than fine for a few more years.

            • @demiurge: Looking to upgrade my CPU, keep trying to find deals on 5800X3D.

      • this 6 cores tho…

    • +4

Celeron 300A man that was a long time ago. I remember the AMD CPUs that had cores disabled. You'd go from a 2 core to a 3 core or a 3 core to a 4th core. Even the Radeon GPUs could have a BIOS reflash for better performance.

Then of course there's the Intel Core i7-2600K. I was running that for years.

      • Ah… memories…

I had the first ever Radeon and reflashed it for an extra 30% performance. The golden age of over clocking…

        • There's not much need now. You could get gains with DDR4 RAM but now there's DDR5

      • I'm still running a 2600K (at 4.5ghz). 💀

        • nice, I had one of those, maybe the 2600+
          sandy bridge were good too

      • Celeron 300A SL32A and SL2WM team represent!

  • Why doesn't anyone post Intel CPUs!? :(

    • +13

Price / performance / power usage :) Its mostly because motherboards are hard to find on older well priced products as intel just kept changing them every 1 or 2 CPU generations

      • +6

        I see…thanks!

I should have gone with AMD :(

  • +10

If only aliexpress also had cheap GPUs

    • +6

That boat has sailed. 2023 was the year for cheap GPUs. AMD RX580 2048sp for $50 and usually only needed thermal paste to be redone. 5700 for $130 and 5700XT for $140. Even the RTX 3060's were cheap.

Plus all the Frankenstein GPUs like an RTX 2080 Ti 22GB instead of 11GB.

      • Surely they will be back, GPU manufacturers just can't keep up with demand for AI training

        • +3

It was a result of 'The Merge' in 2022 that killed off crypto mining in China. Suddenly there was a massive influx of used GPUs and small brand name Shenzhen factories swooped in, bought them in bulk cheap and slapped on new coolers.

Akihabara was the place to be then. $40 Biostar RX580 2048sp cards.

  • Trying to figure out if it's worth replacing my 5600x with this 5700x (and then sell mine on marketplace)

    • +5

For gaming it's minimal difference unless you're playing something that can utilise the extra cores. Certainly more future proof if you plan on sticking to this platform for years to come.

      • +3

Battlefield 6 will utilise those extra cores.

    • Not really. Perhaps wait for the 5700x3d.

      • +8

Those amazing $250 deals ended November last year and now they're all $385+. Sellers ran out of stock quickly and with it out of production the limited stock is expensive.

I'm sure it won't be long until the same happens with this one.

        • +1

I've finally decided on the 5700x after holding out for the 5700x3d, so chances are no more deals after I missed this one haha.

          • @Cheaplikethebird: Would this be much of an upgrade for a 3700X or not worthwhile? I'm not a hardcore gamer (got a 2060S).

            • @G-rig: Probably not the best person to ask but from my limited research it's only really worth it if you're wanting to hold off a complete upgrade for another couple years.

              • @Cheaplikethebird: Yeah mate, no need to rebuild but what I have still going strong. I could always get another 32GB ram, just a prick to get to under the DRP4 cooler so will probably do nothing, haha.

Cheers, does hurt to keep an eye out.

  • +1

    wait… what??

1.The product is brand New One year warranty and will be shipped loose! Minor surface wear, bent pins, or stains are normal. Please do not purchase if you mind these conditions.

    • +2

I've had 3 from this seller and none of those issues. Even if you did have bent pins that's an easy dispute to win.

    • +1

I second Clear's comment. Mine came through fine. New and all, no bent pins. Shipped in plastic CPU package wrapped with some soft foam, then plastic wrapped and posted in bubble wrap mailer. Shipped very fast too.

    • +1

I got one last time and it was like new. Came in a proper tray and wrapped well in a heap of foam and bubble wrap. No bent pins or anything. And shipped really fast. Was very happy overall.

  • +3

F yeah time to buy another 5 for no reason at all 😏

  • +1

Hmmm upgrade from my 3600? Will it be much difference? I’m using a 3070ti GPU.

    • +3

Single core it's faster so you will see some gains. Probably 15-25%. There would be benchmarks around.

    • +1

I did that same upgrade recently. PC feels much smoother overall. I also jumped up to ultrawide monitor, I think it has helped a bit there too.

  • -2

coming to $112 with get for meh

    • +10

If only the OP had posted clear, followable step-by-step instructions detailing how to apply vouchers, qualify for extra cashback credits and pay in USD for lowest possible price…

      • +3

Surprisingly I've had significantly less of those complaints compared to previous sales. Here I am hoping people are beginning to read.

        • +3

You are personally responsible for lowering the collective IQ of the human race.

Your generous posts attempt to idiot proof the world. But the world just keeps on building better idiots.

‘Tis a heavy cross to bear…

        • +1

          Username check out

      • I'm sure people have shopped on AliExpress before, just look at any other of the AE / cashback posts. The vouchers are even on the same screen in AliExpress. This Ozbargain team thing is new (second layer of cashback) but couldn't be bothered with triple dipping and seems hit and miss or not eligible to certain things).

Maybe just go to umart. I've got CPU from Amazon in the past and they turn up quicker (but sometimes from os)

  • Pardon my ignorance please. What do people do with these processors? Can i build a laptop out of these?

    • +7

Excuse me, sir, this is a desktop CPU - no laptops involved. Hope this helps.

      • Ok thanks. What do you use it for?

        • +4

          Build/upgrade a PC.

        • +2

Most people here are replacing the existing one in a old-ish desktop computer (it usually sits under a heatsink/fan combo). Check out YouTube videos of “desktop cpu upgrade”

      • Can i have a desktop with 2 cpus

        • +2

With the right platform and motherboard, yes.

        • No need - CPUs internally have cores + threads which replace the need for multiple CPUs.

    • +1

      Sure.

Laptops, robot pets and time machines, mostly…

  • im still waiting for mine to arrive from last deal!

    • +2

It's only been a little over two weeks, give it a bit longer

  • oos :(

  • Damn, that was quick

  • Is it a good upgrade for old 2700x cpu taken this or 5800x are the only cpu I can use on the Asus MB?

    • +1

This would be a massive upgrade over your 2700x :), i'd go for the 5800x if they are close in price

    • +1

Definitely a great upgrade. I did it and got a noticable uplift in performance plus it runs cooler (that said I did get a better cooler from the Wraith Prism due to PBO but that was a problem on both CPUs)

      • thanks. Do you think the default cooler with 2700x wont cut it. it looks pretty good. Hope I could find thermal paste.
With gigabyte 6700xt card, was thinking to upgrade CPU and 16 GB RAM.

        • Nah, default cooler was fine (as it was on my 2700x) - main issue is that PBO causes the CPU temps to spike occasionally resulting in the cooler ramping up for a few seconds. I used it for a few weeks with the 5700X but on the Wraith Prism, that 90mm fan was LOUD so I had to decide between hearing the fans spinning up for a few seconds every now and again, disable PBO or upgrade the cooler. $50 later and I got the Thermalright Royal Knight which is much, much quieter even when it ramps up.

      • Also, has anyone used the prism CPU cooler from 2700x on this one. I am sure we can use it, but wanted to confirm.

        • Yep, can use as its the same mount. Works fine - just disable PBO in the BIOS if you can't stand the fans ramping up.

          • @Darkscythe: Yea the wraith prism will work fine :) nah you can keep PBO on but you need to adjust the fan curves lol

  • +2

Man… are we ever going to get another 5700x3d deal? Wish I had grabbed one last year.

    • +3

Probably not :/ they aren't being manufactured anymore :(

    • +1

Yeah would have been good, had a look on Ali the other day, $380 seems like the best. Maybe they won't get any cheaper so could get anywhere. I spent $400 on the R7 3700x which is all fine so probably won't bother upgrading but would if these came up for $250 - 300.

  • +2

Got one at $110aud last time around. Fast delivery and working great with a stock r5 2600 cooler running a slight undervolt. Great value. Still wish I had of grabbed a 5700x3d when they were on sale though

  • "Minor surface wear, bent pins, or stains are normal."

    Is that really normal though?

  • im planning to build a pc i dont know much about this what mother should i pair this with thanks

    • +2

if you're gonna build a new pc, it's probably better to go with an am5 system instead of am4
