Where did you find that? The specs on the brochure from the website states resolution as 3840 x 2160.

        Hmmm, I think I might have mixed up my abbreviations… It's QHD that's 2560 x 1440, but QUHD is indeed 4K.

        My bad

        • +5

Easy done with all the different names. It's like a game of Letters and Numbers, lol.

    • +2

      You're confusing QHD vs QUHD.

This TV is QUHD which is 3840 x 2160 pixels.

      • What does QUHD mean anyways?

        • +2

          Quantum-dots UHD panel (QUHD).

          Yes, a terrible marketing term.
But the main word in there is 4K.

Kind of like the word "ULED" used by Hisense.

      https://www.tcl.com/au/en/tvs/p635

The original TCL QUHD TVs - straight from supplier! Welcome to TCL's own high-end QLED, combining the best of LED lighting, 4K resolution, a quantum dot LCD panel and HDR.

      Try again

    • +2

I think the "Q" stands for "Quantum", which is a stupid way to announce that fact.

      The specs say:

      Screen Resolution: 3840 2160

      And

      Maximum Resolution 2160P (4K)

      …so I think it IS 4k.

    • +2

Man, harsh crowd. You made a mistake, no big deal. An upvote from me for what it's worth, lol.

  • $80 delivery to me lol

  • +1

Seems very cheap but good reviews? Too good to be true? Would be a nice upgrade to my 50 inch hisense which is just a TINY bit too small for my setup

  • "For those that are not Plus members the price would be $499.50 + delivery."
    How?

    • +2

coupon redemption code APR202310 (for non-eBay Plus members)

  • +3

It has a HDMI 2.1 port which is surprising at this price point

    • What does not mean much If it cant do 4k@120

      • 4k@100? Or not even? Very limited spec details

        • +1

Looks like it does 4k@120hz what is amazing! But i Just saw us reviews

          • +1

@Dienk: Not sure why we get cucked TV models, they assume we're dumb?

            • +2

@Bearlion: Would be a shame if TCL does the same that hisense does with AUS market

I just moved out and need a new TV. Is this a good TV to buy? I won’t be spending a huge amount of time watching TV I do love a good movie and want something with decent quality.

I don’t need the best of the best but I want something that won’t disappoint in terms of viewing experience

    • I haven't seen one but I ordered one based on the decent specs for the money and the couple of reviews I read. It's going to replace a FFalcon 55 which I thought was good for the money, but lower spec than this.

Also currently using a Chromecast with Google TV but I will give the inbuilt version a try, if its decent I will probably use it. Another plus is the 3 year warranty.

    • It's ultimately on the budget end of things, best have a look in store to see if will disappoint

    • +5

TCL are typically a "good" TV.

They're not cutting edge amazing, but they're a SOLID jump up from the "store brand" ones you see as true budget.

If you A to B them with high end brands, im sure you'll be able to nitpick.

If you own it, and sit down to a movie, I'm equally sure there won't be anything happening that even comes close to breaking your immersion.

  • +1

I'm watching the footy on this TV now in our spare room. I bought it mostly for Google TV and the size per $. The picture is OK, the interface is OK, but clunky compared to my 85inch Sony with Google TV. For the $$ though, no brainer.

    • +1

UI and processor aside (will be using a Shield Pro), the viewing angles and general picture quality is good enough? I agree 58 inches would be handy at this price.

    • so how do you find the footy/sports with the fast panning? Does it blur a lot or still looks AOK?

  • Good enough? Yep, i can watch telly on it and it has a 3 year warranty + Google TV :) If you go in without crazy expectations, you'll be happy. If you want an excellent picture spend the $$ and buy a Sony.

  • Am considering for bedroom tv to replace 36” on the wall, though was really thinking more like 50”.

Not sure if this is getting a little large for a bedroom, though without the thick bezels they used to have they are more compact :)

Had my eye on the 50” Hisense 50A7HAU, though this much larger TCL is cheaper…

    • +2

I bought the TCL 50c635 this week for the bedroom. I’m really happy with the quality. The size is maybe a tad too big but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

This deal brings it down to $655 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/770300

      • Thanks mate. I think I’ll skip the 58”‘deal here and go 50 or 55 with a better panel.

    • +1

I have a 40 in my bedroom and am about 2.8m from it and while its ok, I could easily go bigger. My housemate has a 55 in their room and its about 3.5m away and it doesn't look too big in my opinion.

  • I pulled the trigger - been wanting a bigger display and it will be if not the same then better than my Hisense 50R6.

TGG have already sent me an SMS confirming what date I want it delivered. I picked Tuesday even though it’s a public holiday

  • +6

I purchased one of these late last year when buying a couple of small cheap 40" TVs for bedrooms / spare rooms, and opted to size up one of them as the price difference wasn’t that huge.

In the end, I actually swapped out our old 50” Panasonic plasma with this one.

    Some things to note:

    • General picture is good. It’s no top tier TV, but it doesn’t feel like a downgrade from the plasma.
    • Black levels aren’t terrible. I expected them to be a lot worse, but to be honest they’re not too different from the old plasma (which likely has worsening black levels). Not an issue at night in a semi lit room, but the darker your room gets the more likely you will notice it.
    • Viewing angles are horrible. As soon as you move a little off angle, the saturation and blacks take a big hit.
    • Backlight uniformity is average at best. As it’s only edge lit, it’s not terrible… but backlight bleed is noticeable around the edges, especially on flat whites and greys. Not super noticeable watching shows unless you really focus on it.
    • Sound quality is… actually, I’ve only really used it with a sound bar, so I have no idea.
    • Google TV is Google TV. It can be a tiny bit laggy, mainly when turning the TV on - but otherwise feels pretty close to the Chromecast dongles we have.
    • Reflectiveness is on par with the plasma. It has a coating which blurs the reflection a bit, but the plasma seemed to darken the reflection slightly.
    • Brightness is fine for us in a reasonably lit room. It’s brighter than the Plasma, especially because the Plasma loves to buzz when the brightness gets too high.
    • HDR - The logo pops up every so often. You’ll never notice the difference though, as the contrast ratio isn’t high enough.

All in all, it has surprised me for the cost. I will definitely be looking to swap it out with an OLED or MINI LED TV in the future, but right now it’s doing the job well enough that I can wait a while.

  • I have comapred this and Hisense 55a7hau in the showroom, hisense panel seemed heaps better.

    • +1

never good comparisons, who knows what the settings are and the source image? i've noticed in JB on the lower end models they go out of their way to play a lower res sample video than the more expensive OLEDS next to them

  • +1

    Any good as a monitor?

    • Bro I'll let you know when it arrives for me lol

  • What's the difference between the P and C series? I assume they're both 2022 TVs.

    • +1

C735 is far better. Better speakers, better panel, better refresh. As mentioned above, go one size down in c series.

    • P series is better than C series, do your research first.

      • +1

The C series is better than the P series by far. Just got to look at the prices. I was just interested in knowing what the differences were.

        • Yep, I stand corrected. You are right.

  • Thoughts on putting this outside on a patio? How does this hold up in a bright area?

    • +1

Depends on how bright it gets under your patio, I bought one of these a few months back too and in the JB next to some Hisense TVs that were about a $100 more the brightness on this just isn't a match. In my current place the living room and balcony face west, in the mid afternoon when the sun is pointing directly across it I can't view it that well without putting down the blinds.

      • Thanks, it would be mounted in the wall facing north however the sun would point straight across it from midday onwards. I don't think I'll be pulling the trigger - Appreciate your help.

  • -4

    ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC BRAND

    • +2

You must be thinking of there old stuff, TCL have come a long way, the mini LED is a cracker.

    • Really? Even my mums one that she bought 10 years ago is still going strong. They're definitely a "budget" brand, but still decent from what I've seen/heard,

  • Why can't I click and collect

    • Might be that there are no stores near you with stock?

  • I’m debating whether to upgrade to bigger tv. I’ve a 32 in Hisense that served me well for years but after moving from studio to 1 bedroom I might put that in the bedroom and get this for the living room.

  • +1

Just finished setting mine up - after tweaking the settings it’s not a bad TV for this price! I think viewing angles aren’t perfect but isn’t an issue with my setup. Stoked with the size compared to my 50 inch Hisense. Menus actually feel snappy but have turned off all smart features as I’m using my shield pro

    • Thanks for the info. I still haven't received mine yet.

Viewing angles wont be problem for me either. Just looking forward to getting it.

  • +1

Think I’m too late as the price (with discount for C&C) is showing up at 611.60 :(

    • Yeh same. I was about to semi-impulse order it tonight

    • Unfortunately looks like TGG put the price up. I also noticed JB and Bing Lee have also gone back up to $695. Must have been a promo by TCL and it's finished.
