    Excludes $50 Ebay Gift Cards.

  • Can i use a 'coles myer' giftcard to purchase this giftcard?

    • You'd have more luck with a wish gift card.

    • -1

yes…you select card as payment type….just do it at the self serve checkouts…and don't let the staff see you using it as payment.

      • +1

Maybe not now as you missed many related comments.

        • -1

must have changed fairly recently if you can't. I did it last Nov, so not sure what has happened since then.

          • +2

            @souths123: Changed last week.

            • @Sheng: well, that is why I didn't know. Good to know. I hadn't heard about this change, which is pretty major, but not surprising.

be careful with these deals as they now seem to wreck other offers. Since I purchased 7 x $100 Home gift cards last year, my offers are almost non-existent. I used to get the spend $xx x 4 get 10,000 points all the time (for years, without fail), but I haven't since then…and barely get any good deals anymore at all. Not sure if it is just coincidence, but….

    • -3

That's because you and everyone else on this platform is rorting the system , enjoy it while it lasts .

      • Omg, talk about being totally over the top. I'm just saying that buying these sorts of things using flybuys card, it can possibly wreck your other offers and you attack me. So what if i got 7 cards last November? I did it over a couple of trips, not like i took them all in one go I don't get these sorts of things very often, just wanting to purchase something from provincial home living with a bit of a discount, as they are expensive.

        • +1

I bought some cards recently and I’m still getting the normal offers.

          • +1

@fozzie: I said possibly, not always. It is the first time it has affected me. Since Nov and these purchases, my offers have pretty much dried up. I still use the card, but don't buy much when I do, so that hopefully I might start getting some again.

They want to move merchandise. We move merchandise. I can't see how ozbargainers aren't 10x more useful to Coles than the average person who doesn't read catalogs, would buy gift cards once a year for someone's birthday and don't help Coles get rid of cards when Coles want to get rid of cards

Nobody is rorting shit, people here just know what a real discount looks like

    • Have back cards for this reason now

      • yes, we have my husband's card to fall back on, but that one also isn't getting anywhere near as many deals as we used to. Not sure if this is across the board, or just some that are finding this…i.e. random

Less than 5% discount on $100 ebay gift card, not much mother's day love from Coles :(

    • +2

Yes, not worth it imo. Better off when prezzee offers bonus gift cards tbh.

      • Certainly is worth if you buy a lot from eBay and need a top up (especially if it's still possible to buy these with Coles PMC/Vanilla Visa). With the Prezzee offers you can swap to pretty much anything else anyway.

  • Can we use the Coles MasterCard that’s on offer this week in VIC to purchase these gift cards? Sorry if I missed previous comments. TIA

    • +1

@WookieMonster Are you able to answer this? I may have missed it but not seeing confirmation that Coles PMC/Vanilla Visa can no longer be used to buy cards like these Ultimate cards.

      • +2

I cannot answer this, because I have never tried to use Coles Mastercard gift cards to purchase Ultimate gift cards (or eBay gift cards) at Coles.

        • +1

Alright, just seems going by recent comments that it's no longer possible to use any gift cards including those prepaid cards I mentioned to buy any gift cards, which would be a real shame if wanting to load up for a large purchase like a TV, especially during the yearly 15% off sale. Would have to settle for a likely max of 10% elsewhere, perhaps only online if it's no longer possible at Woolies either.

        • @WookieMonster - sorta unrelated but I went to self-serve checkout at Coles yesterday and had grocery items only in my basket (Frozen food & snacks). I scanned my 1st Coles GC (from Preezee) and then proceeded to pay the remaining balance with a 2nd Coles GC (also from Preezee). The 2nd card scanned, but just as I proceeded to enter PIN, I was thrown with the invalid product mix error that generally appears with you attempt split payment on gift cards.

I told the staff that I haven't historically had issues redeeming multiple GCs in 1 transaction but I think their recent update has caused them to implement this block as well.

Anyways, funny enough, I refused to pay the balance with EFTPOS (just to see how they resolve this). The transaction couldn't be voided since a payment (tender) was already provided. They ended up giving me cash equivalent to the value of the 1st GC.

          • @nsingh21: Were your Coles gift cards regular Coles gift cards (starting with 6273 4010) or Coles Groceries gift cards (starting with 6273 4000 / 6273 4005)?

            • @WookieMonster: Card Number: 62734010xxxxxxxxx
              Card Type: Coles Gift Card
              Purchased from: Prezzee

PS: Just got to learn from you there's 2 types of Coles GCs lol

              • @nsingh21: There’s actually five types I know of:

Anyway, the reason I asked what type of gift cards you were trying to use is that the bug you encountered is actually a bug I have only encountered when trying to do split payments across a Coles Groceries gift card and then any type of Coles gift card, and I have known about this for a couple of years now.

My guess is that with Coles’ move to now automatically block using any type of gift card issued by Coles Group to pay for any gift cards, Coles merely copied over the configuration they have set up on the Coles Groceries gift cards, which means they have now accidentally copied over this bug too. I am not sure what actually triggers this bug, as I have triggered this on the following:

                • A transaction where I was only purchasing a raw whole chicken from the meat department.
                • A transaction where I purchased beef rump steak from the meat department and a bottle of milk.
                • A transaction where I purchased fruit, vegetables and a pack of meat from the meat department.

I also witnessed someone trigger this bug when trying to use two Coles Groceries gift cards when they were doing a massive grocery shop, and the store manager had no idea what was going on.

If I were you, I would call up Coles head office and put in a complaint about it, because it is a known issue (at least to me) and it can crop up from time to time, and it has been going for a couple of years now… I did not do that myself, because the third time it happened to me, the store manager said she would call up Coles head office and get them to send the complaint on to the right team to fix it… but it looks like it has not been fixed!

Btw, when you redeemed the first Coles gift card, did you correctly redeem the exact amount remaining on the gift card, or did you accidentally try to redeem more than what was available and then rely on the prompt on the checkout screen to tell you the current balance of the first Coles gift card?

                • @WookieMonster: Thanks for yet another comprehensive guide. I had no idea about #2, 3, 4. In fact, its been over 1.5yrs and I've never redeemed any Flybuys points (including the massive amounts racked up from the past MC & VISA deals). I also only found out #3 yesterday & the fact that you need a physical Flybuys to redeem it. Hence a good tip for those going in the next round to ensure they've got the physical Flybuys for that extra bonus on top of 10% off.

When I saw this error, it reminded me of this post, hence I refused to pay the balance with an alternative means and let their machine go into 'freeze mode'.

@WookieMonster - good pick, yes unfortunately this time around I accidentally entered a higher balance by mistake. However, I'm pretty sure I've redeemed multiple Coles regular GCs in self-serve earlier this year. The above change seems to have blocked this.

@nsingh21: I think you have confused Flybuys Dollars with Coles flybuys gift cards.

                    • Flybuys Dollars is where you use a physical Flybuys card (like a gift card) to pay for goods instore at participating businesses.

                    • Coles flybuys gift cards is what you are sent in the mail when you redeem your Flybuys points for this item on the Flybuys Rewards Store.

Btw, next time you get the prompt on the screen telling you that your gift card has insufficient balance and it instead asks whether you want to redeem the exact amount on the gift card, reject this and then go back to the payment screen, Mixed Payments, Gift Card and then manually punch in the exact amount on the gift card; if you do that, you should avoid triggering the Invalid Product Mix error.

                    • +1

@WookieMonster: Thanks a lot for clarification on Flybuys gift card.

I'll probably head over today (once the store opens) to see if I can recreate the error & use your suggestion for a fix to redeem multiple GCs in 1 transaction. Will report back!

          • @nsingh21: Same thing happened with me last week, event i tried to pay with my coles prepaid MasterCard, not accepted, finally i have to pay with my normal card.

  • Went to coles today and was stopped by a staff, kindly reminded me that this promotion (I was trying to buy the Ultimate her card) was not going into action and told me I wouldn't get any bonus points so I didn't get them. Worth checking with other stores I guess.

    • seems this deal is not appeared on catalogue, anyway I didn't see any ebay card in store.
