Wish the i7 and tomohawk z690 would come back

    • +4

      Why?

That is a dead platform with zero upgrade path. This has at least two gens upgrade paths and early leaks from Jim Keller's (creator of ryzen) new company show zen 5 to have a huge gain in performance, close to the biggest so far. Also the new road map shows AMD have a 12 core ccd in the next two years

      • +13

I don't need an upgrade path for a $650 CPU?

      • +9

lol. if i had a nickel for every time a publically traded tech company claims a 'huge gain' in performance i would be a billionarie by now. yet im not and only those who made these claims are.

leaks? more like controlled info releases.

aint believing nothing until i see third party benchmarks from reputable sources

        • -1

Its not first party, its third party.
AMD did not release or claim anything

      • +1

Eh, they might not intend to upgrade within the life of AM5 support (assuming 5 years). It'd be a nice option to have though. If it shakes out like AM4 where you can still get stuff for it, brand new, then it'd be a killer option though. I have my doubts that'll happen again though.

        • I have my doubts that'll happen again though.

The same folks are at the helm.
They may not be the best at addressing complaints, but if its one thing AMD do well, its notice where their praise comes from.

They'll sit on the AM5 socket for as long as they possibly can IMO. Get that reputation as "investments" nailed in.

      • +1

Most people upgrade every 5 years+ which means they will most likely upgrade the platform as well

    • Super sad to miss out on the tomahawk deal, was just the thing I'm in the market for.

Checked through but no itx combos. Still waiting for sales on parts to build the H1v2 from last month. Only grabbed ram so far and desperately hoping for a 13600/Asus mb combo to magically appear

  • +1

Goddamnit these B650 deals start dropping after I buy a B550 as the foundation of my new build

  • +2

seems to be some overvolting issue with amd + expo going on rn

    just a fyi

  • Really need some deals on the cpus only..

  • +2

Why is this a "deal"? Just a typical price range for something like that.

    • +3

Well it's pretty clear where the discounts are. It is chaper than normal..

      • agree, what else you can expect from 100$ cheaper ..

          • +1

@xsacha: It is a deal if the final price is cheaper, this is a deal. Lets take an example bundle that's is commonly available in all three stores

            Ryzen 5 7600 Gigabyte B650M DS3H Corsair Vengeance 32GB
            Shopping Express $676 delivered
            Computer Alliance $578 + delivery
            PLE Computers $742 + delivery

The price different between SE and CA is $98 which can't buy you a pair of 16GB DDR5 RAM.

            • @O O: I agree it is a deal. As you can see, it's not $100 cheaper though. Only $66 + delivery difference to the PLE one and that was just a random one I picked. Several other companies do such bundles.

$100 off for a bundle is quite normal. PLE has larger discounts for the more expensive options.

  • All bundles oos
