Update - Sales rep via live chat gave me an extra $40 off bringing it down to $1149

    • what did you say to get the extra $40 off? I do need to replace my 2013 macbook air. This looks like a good replacement for the price.

Yeh I get ya man but I'm not the biggest fan of MacOS. My productivity is just much faster with Windows. Plus I've never needed my laptop off charger for too long.

@aus36: I tried the older model of this QHD Lenovo, but hated the keyboard and QC of it. Felt flimsy compared to the business-class model Lenovo. However, the business model looks very ugly and the screen is outdated.

I don't think any laptop in the market beats an m1 in terms of its display. battery life performance and portability. Mac OS is pretty basic as well.

I prob recommend going into JBHIFI and testing out the device.

You can always buy and return Apple products if you wanna test run it.

@[Deactivated]: Yeh good point man. I'll have a look before committing.
              Luckily I've held myself back.

@aus36: If storage is important to you, the cost stacks up fast with the Macbook. You'll need to go down the refurb/ used route if you want to get a MBA M1 with 512gb storage for something between the $12-1300 range.

@aus36: I do like Windows os better than mac aswell.

Macbook pro has become annoying to me.

I have the 6800U version a while ago for $1460 and it averages 6.5W in hwinfo doing light tasks like coding and watching video. Maxing out the 400nit OLED only increases it a bit. It can last me 2 days on the 71Wh battery.

You could surely configure the 6800HS to the same average wattage, however the battery capacity isn't great at 56Wh.

        • Enough Tim Apple!
          Macs. Yuck.

"What's the best price you can give me?"

    • Thanks for the update, but the "Chat now " is not clickable atm.

  • how does this compare to M1 Air?

    • What are you planning to use the laptop for?

      • Docs, netflix, YT LOL

        • +3

m1 every day of the week!.. so long as you don't mind macos.

Yea seems like a typical university lifestyle

My MacBook air m1 can do that fine. Battery life is pretty good but not as crazy as people say on Reddit. I personally would buy Apple since the return policy is great and a lot of customer reviews on ios updates and issue on Reddit.

@[Deactivated]: Good reason right there to order directly thru the AOC store with a 14 day right of return

  • gads I hope they fix their kb driver issues

Is there a 15"/16" for same spec and price point?

    • Check out the Ideapad Pro 5. $1249 for a similar spec 16" form factor and 120hz 2k slightly brighter screen.

Close to pulling the trigger on this one.

So much power but so little ram. I wish this had 32GB.

On 16G, You can still have 20 tabs of porn open and 2 movies playing on dual screen without slowing down performance. I have done the stress test.

        😂

Thank you for your service 🫡

      • are these results on a Macbook M2 air 16Gram?

M2 chip isn't optimised for porn just yet.

Probably in a few months right, given the Radeon 780M benchmarks just came out this week.

With how AMD has rolled out this gen, probably next year.

      Useless tards.

I have the IdeaPad 5 non-slim and highly recommend it. For my purpose though, I regret getting the AMD version. Sure the CPU and APU is great but I would much more benefit from having Thunderbolt. It really doesn't play nice with the various docks I've tried. I haven't shelled out $400 for the Lenovo dock but have a few other decent ones. The USB 3.2 port just isn't as good as TB. I'm an IT professional so I doubt it's user fault

    • have you tried turning it off and on?

The one thing I didn't think of! Thanks

Shame bout the screen, would have preferred the 90hz and/or touch options. Battery life seems questionable. Still tempting though.

  • How does it stack up against the Yoga Slim 6i that was on sale recently for 1200ish?

From JB HI-FI page "add up to two 4K displays with an HDMI™ 2.0 and two Type-C™ ports"

Paid $1699 for this at JB. Upgraded from a X1 Carbon Gen 6. Very, very happy with the performance - coding + image/video editing. Highly recommend.

    • What's the battery life like Fluffy?

      • I get a full work day out of it with a bit left at the end. Pretty happy tbh!

Mark my word for those who going to buy Lenovo laptop (from my own experience), does not matter how good the specs and price looked, this will be a garbage after 1 year, battery will not last, microphone, speaker sh..itt…etc.

    $1199 without edu

  • This or E14 Gen 4

  • Any good value ideas for similar laptop for business use, battery life and reliability being very important? Already have a surface 7 but the 8gb RAM struggles sometimes. Something lighter, 14inch max and have a budget up to 1500

    • Lenovo T14s. That was my target but ended up with Thinkbook 14 i7 gen 4 with MMX550 for $1275. Poorer battery life but upgradeable RAM with dedicated graphics card.

  • Anyone who bought this able to provide a tax receipt / invoice that I could try get a price match w JB HiFi ? Much appreciated.
