Oh need to do some research on B vs C.

Edit. 2022 be 2023 possibly just software update.
Should I be waiting for 990b clearance?

    • I would be interested to know this too. Is the sound better in the C?

    • That explains the "cheap" launch price

      • I wouldnt call $2099 cheap. (Jb hifi price) the onky reason it is cheap is because it is through good guys comercial

    • My 990b has constant dropouts with Sony tvs. Hopefully they’ve fixed the issue with this 2023 model.

      • While using it? My Sony tv does occasionally not sync when turned on. I do have to turn the soundbar off and on every few weeks. Also lip sync is occasionally bad and needs a power cycle to resolve

It's likely more of a Sony problem - I've never had a good ARC experience with my Sony TVs

      • What happens if you connect some other source directly to the soundbar?

Still loving my 930b I got for under $700 during black friday.

    • Great price. Good work! I think the 930b is the sweet spot for value for money. I'd dearly love the 990b but i don't think the difference is all that noticeable and I'd rather save the $$$.

  • I think it has been cheaper?

Just curious on q990b price if someone can check pls

    • It's On clearance and the same price with delivery only.

Thanks, waiting for less than 1k on q990b, now that c model is out hope to score bargain on b model

    • +1

The q990b and q930b are $1 cheaper than the c models.

      • Thanks

  • Apparently the B models suffer from rear speaker and wireless sub drop outs, especially left ones based on YouTube comments.

Can anyone who has this confirm please?

Has mine for over a month now. Seems to be ok and I use it 990b all the time

Had my Q990B for almost 12 months and never experienced the issues you've mentioned.

I've had some other issues that I never experienced when using my old speakers over optical, but I put them down to my TV, for example:

      • TV reverting back to internal speaker instead of using eARC

      • Audio sync issues (for example, when watching a recorded program on foxtel and I fast-forward/rewind, the audio goes out of sync and I have to close the recording and re-open it). I think this could be a HDCP issue with the TV/foxtel box, but I'm not sure….

Had mine for a while now. No issues at all. I'm wondering if users who are affected have some weird interference in their area.

I've had the q990b for a few months now, connected instantly and flawlessly ever since i first switched it on. Ive seen some issues are related to wifi routers etc so if possible dont have your router set up right next to the soundbar. I have a wifi6 router in a seperate but adjacent room, and im only usung that frequency, not 2.4ghz. So that might be the issue alot of people are having.

    • Had mine for nearly 12 months and no drop outs

    • Another 990B owner here with no issues, and one of my mesh routers sits right next to it.

    • Can confirm left rear speaker disconnects sometimes. I believe its something to do with 5Ghz wifi because when I set my router to 2.4Ghz, the speakers works fine but on 5 Ghz it disconnects after 2-3 weeks, most of the time it just takes 20 seconds to sync it manually.

The sound bar sounds great and I got it for an excellent price in Dec 2022 so just have to accept these annoying issues.

Thanks everyone. Some sources of these issues:

There are plenty more, one even from Samsung members that has been archived.

    • I’d seen a lot of these before I bought mine 6 months ago but never had an issue. Just plugged it in it connected up itself. Never had to touch them again.
I doubt it’s common. Id guess that some people have interference from neighbours systems, other devices or microwaves.

For me its something to do with 5 Ghz, the left rear speaker disconnects occasionally.

your micro wave oven probably interferences with the 2.4G band .

  • I'd purchase the HW-Q990C but I don't have a TGGC account, has anyone negotiated TGGC prices instore at TGG?

    • +1

Got the HW-Q990C price matched instore, thanks OP!

      • May I ask how, please? I am interest to get the HW-930C.

        • I rang a local store and asked for their best price for the item, it was the manager and i mentioned that on TGGC it was x price, which I want to purchase but I have to wait a few days for my account to be approved through Union Shopper to access TGGC and I was thinking if he could match it I'd just pop in and purchase it from them direct instead. He said yes, but he'd have to approve the sale as a manager so had to see him when I went in store. Although he did ask to see a screenshot of the price but I just said I can't access the site yet to see, as I was waiting for my account to be approved but he said "okay no worries" and still approved it.

Paid by gift card via Shopback and saved another $40 too!

          • @groobz: Thanks for sharing this. Hope you have enjoyed the new soundbar and have a good one.

  • Thanks OP, cracking price, picked one up. Have you had any issues with delivery? Seems to be moving pretty slowly after being allocated to a store

  • How long do prices/stock on GGC usually last? I just signed up to GGC through Australian Retirement Trust but don't know how long it will take for my access to come through. I really want to pick up a HW-Q990C

Can anyone share a screengrab? Maybe I can try and get someone in-store to price match..

    • nvm, I emailed them and access came through 10 minutes later. maybe related, maybe coincidence

  • $1218 now on TGG Commercial

    Both for 990b and 990c.

  • Missed out on $1218, but they "matched" the $1276 in store, so I got it for $1224.96 with my 4% off TGG gift cards.

  • Just got the Samsung HW-Q990C Soundbar from JBHIFI for $1350 as it’s 1499 -10% PERKS voucher, just sign up with a new address to get a voucher. Whilst it’s not $1277 it’s a good price for those without commercial access

  • Samsung corporate and education store selling Q990C for $1274 after discount.

  • $1124+$50 postage on eBay from Powerland. (If only they would allow pick up)
    With afterpay checkout code.

  • Just bought Q990C through Shoprite $1115; picked up from HN.
