Don't tell me what to do, noob.

Thanks for the post OP 🙂

WCYD, obvious sarcasm appears to be offensive to some.

      Are you from the future?

My ipad pro 12.9 from 2017 still recieves updates. Thats 6 years after release

      • High-end iPad Pro may be different. But iPhone X is not being supported in the next IOS update this year, and it is likely that iPhone 11 no longer supported in a couple of years.

        • +2

Any device with an A11 or older are rumoured to be dropped. However that’s likely due to security, there is an unfixable bootrom flaw.

Apple drop devices in batches, just because the A11 is being dropped this year doesn’t mean the A13 will be dropped in 2 years. Particularly when Apple is still selling the device now.

          • -3

@freefall101: It is your guess, good luck.

          • @freefall101: Bottom flaw. LOL. You mean forced upgrade.

            • @BusMan247: Yes, Apple hid a bootrom flaw in their hardware for a decade so they could push a forced upgrade on the 6 year old iPhone 8 and 5 year old iPhone X. Which, going by Apple's history, will mean they'll only provide security fixes and the phones will continue to work perfectly fine.

              What an evil genius plan.

Heads up about these things is always good.

          What phone is your daily?

TBH I didnt realise info about iOS17 was out already, coz typically its silence from Apple until WWDC in June. To avoid all this being labelled as conjecture, could you post the link where the dropping of iPhone X and A13 was announced? thanks heaps

        • High-end iPad Pro may be different.

          Incorrect

Ipad pro 12.9 2017 uses an older Apple A10X Fusion

      • The iPad Air 2 was only dropped last year. What’s that a 9 year old device finally dropped?

I thought Apple guaranteed five years after they stopped selling the devices?

    • +6

This is an official current model iPad, Apple have never obsoleted a product two years after last sale.

      • -4

It is iPad 2021, not being supported in 2024 or 2025 would not be surprising.

        • +4

Go look at the Apple store, this iPad is a current model for sale, that’s my point.

          • -6

@Grok: iPad has become a cheap product line for Apple, unlike iPad Air or Pro, and it does not matter if it is current model or not in terms of updating.

        • +2

I think it would be very surprising, uproar-worthy even, if this model is not supported in the next year or two.

The latest iPadOS 16 is available on the 5th generation iPad (2017): https://support.apple.com/en-au/guide/ipad/ipad213a25b2/ipad… (It will most likely not receive iPadOS 17 later this year.)

Given Apple typically drops off the oldest model each year from its major feature update, if that trend continues we could expect the 9th gen to continue receiving such updates ideally until iPadOS 20 in 2026-27 (but not iPadOS 21 due in 2027, assuming annual feature updates). Security updates should hopefully be available for a while longer.

    • These deals always surface otherwise silent accounts that spread FUD.

If you don't like Apple products, it's OK to stay silent instead of lying.

Same price at officeworks for 64gb and 256gb

    • Just had a look and 64gb is 447 now, I assume recently changed for no pricebeat? Looks like a few other stores like JB are around the same price now too

      • The Amazon prices are slightly different depending on colour, ie silver 64GB is $447 whereas space grey is $449 (and other way round for the 256GB, $677 for space grey and $679 for silver). Assume OW just matched the lowest Amazon price.

        • Ah right. I ended up purchasing from JB as I had some gift cards to use 👍🏽

hv been waiting for a good price for ipad mini

    • +2

I paid $636.65 for new iPad mini at the Apple education store by using the 15% discounted Apple e-gift Cards.

      Good price ?

      • i think got around that price last year too. it was good deal to me at that time,

    • I’m still waiting for next gen mini, feels like been 84 years

    • +7

I think you already told us that

    • Got a link to that?

I think it is more likely to be the iPhone 7 or 8 and up will be supported.

I believe the iPhone 6S is the oldest model to be supported with updates atm?

Is something changing? What’s your source?

Apple direct still sells this product. They have never dropped support for a model that they currently sell after a couple of years.

Ipad pro or get something budget. Not this

      Bring back Blackberry!

  • Nice find OP

  • Why get iPad if someone has 6.7 inch iPhone and 13 inch MacBook already?

    • +1

Electronic Flight Bag for me .

Edit: but fair call, it sits on charge unused for 99% of the time

    • +3

Complements a 5.4” iPhone mini nicely though, especially for reading. Usually gets more screen time than the iPhone and MacBook combined in my case.

    • Most people who rock an iPhone use Windows if they have a PC.

      Plus, apples and oranges

Let me show my evidence that it is rumoured that iPhone X is perhaps not going to receive IOS 17 update. As this iPad uses the same A13 chip with iPhone 11, anything wrong to make a guess that it is likely that they will not be supported in new iPad OS in a couple of years? Let me see how many down votes this post will receive and how disrespectful this community is!!!
