Okay, I know they're Crocs and the colour isn't for everyone, but these are not regular Crocs, but legit clogs for kitchen and healthcare workers. I haven't worked in a kitchen for over 20 years (besides a 3 year stint at Meals on Wheels as supervisor, but rage quit because the branch president was an insufferable, entiltled b*tch) and I'm thinking about finding a part time job for funsies because I miss the rush, camaraderie and the extracurricular activities.

These are $80 RRP here, and I've only seen them drop to $60 on sale locally.

How come all the multibillion dollar companies are "going woke" then?
I feel like they've got at least a smidge more understanding of how to run a successful business than a small minded person like you would have.

Weird how its "Go woke, go broke" but also "they're only doing that for marketing/money reasons"…
        Kinda conflicting excuses.

Tell that to Budweiser or Disney after their massive flop with Strange World.

It's axiomatic to say it but most normal people don't enjoy being condescendingly lectured on "right think" by multi-million/billion dollar corporations with atrocious moral/ethical/litigious backgrounds who almost universally rely on slave labour, child labour and exploitative workplace practices to manufacture their products.

Something something don't throw stones something something glass house. What I said here applies to a large degree as well.

You assume it's the corporations themselves introducing this agenda. It's not.

@Gnostikos: Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA is still up in its 6 monthly, year and YTD.
And it's only down barely 2.4% in the last month.

It's laughable that people think such a tiny stock % dip is somehow bad and going to cause long term issues.
I think this article explains it pretty well https://seekingalpha.com/article/4594602-anheuser-busch-stoc…

As for strange world, it was just a shit movie with (profanity) terrible marketing.
Gay people exist, and have existed all throughout history. This isn't some agenda.

          • +5

@Gnostikos: You realise the Budweiser thing was a promotion via an “influencer” directly to their fans? No one had to watch it if they didn’t want to. It was pure marketing, beer sales from macro breweries have been dropping for years, they need a new audience.

People had to go out of their way to be outraged over it.

I bet you own at least two pairs of Crocs jv.

      • +10

I will put my hand up, I have three pairs. However, the last pair only cost me $4.97 from Costco. If you wear them with socks they make great replacements for winter slippers and you can wear them in the garden without worrying about wet feet. They are also good for when you are standing for long periods like cooking. However my crocs aren’t seen in public.

I have no idea why a bunch of guys who seem to be insecure in their sexuality get their knickers in a twist about anything gay. Maybe they are secretly turned on and can’t hack it. They do seem to protest too much don’t they? OMG somebody might be different to me, I can’t take it. To me people are just people. As long as it is consenting adults I don’t give a fig. People can wear what they hell makes them happy.

        • +13

          A) I don’t think the gay community would be upset if you wore rainbow coloured crocs. However, you might be asked out. A polite “no” would suffice, just like women are expected to do.
          B) it is the stereotyping and dismissive comments that are the issue. I realise some people here can’t get their head around some people are different but they need to grow up and make room.

Personally I love the fact I live in an area where most people don’t care. Women in trousers, guys wearing dresses, who gives a toss. I’m about as far from a fashion plate as you can get but I do appreciate when others make an effort.

      • +3

It's funny because all the super-anti-homo politicians, pastors, public figures—at least in the US—are the ones constantly getting busted doing gay shit.

        • +2

They are the ones who scream “paedophiles” and get done for molesting children as well.

      • +2

You would be surprised how many 'straight' guys are not so straight when nobody else is watching

    • -5

Drag queens have much better taste than wearing crocs. They are more likely to be something the Neo Nazis wear out in public.

      • -1
        • -1

Yeah, because that is a reliable source. What we have seen is a RC that showed churches not only had paedophile priests but they covered up for them, they moved them from location to location where they molested more children. These drag shows are being halted because the RWNJs are threatening violence. Exactly what part of Christ’s message does that align with? If these “Christian’s” want to stop paedophiles they should be picketing churches.if would be more in line with reality.

Do you think that rainbow clothes were invented by the LGBTQ+ community???
These look like they're designed based off the rainbow tie dye style.

      • No def not, but they're obviously clearly perceived as being connected these days - which is great as it keeps them (mostly) out of the mainstream

        • who/what is "them"? Rainbow clothes or LGBTQ+ people?
Why does either of them being mainstream matter?

          • @ihuntbargains: "them" is the rainbow clothes. It matters that they ("the rainbow clothes") are not "in the mainstream" because they're fkn ugly. Is this "clear" now?

            • @Lps: You're entitled to your opinion.
              Fashion is subjective.

I can’t think of a single reason why these would be considered acceptable for any workplace. Unsafe AND unsightly.

    • +12

      Unsightly, sure whatever. Unsafe? Source?

Maybe the thousands of nurses and line cooks who wear these daily should ditch them because some rando on OzB said so.

Do you have experience in either industry?

      • +3

Yup. These sort of things are used in commercial kitchens because they are anti skid and enclosed shoes. The other favourite shoes are Birkenstocks.

I have foam mats I stand on when I’m cooking. In winter I also wear my crocs because they keep my feet warm as well.

      • I know they wouldn't be allowed in most of the places I've worked at because they have aren't lace-up and they have an exposed heel. If you want boots without laces, most places at least require them to be boots above the ankle (e.g. Chelsea boots).

A quick Google search shows that a lot of places are banning these for just that reason, including hospitals and McDonalds.

    Just grey tho.

I don't actually think they're that comfortable to be honest.

    • Given they are plastic they’ve might be a tad uncomfortable if you are sweaty, especially if you don’t wear socks.

      • I wear socks, but they're good for stuff like BJJ as easy to take off etc

  • After seeing a $43 pair of crocs on here…I think I might need to take a break from Oz "bargain".

(For a few hours. I'll be back tomorrow)

    • +21

Alright nerds, I'm gonna explain this one last time because the mods deleted my edit and people don't know how to read.

THESE ARE NOT REGULAR CROCS. They are work clogs commonly used in commercial kitchens and the healthcare industry. Here are some examples of kitchen clogs for the uneducated:

      https://www.amazon.com.au/Birkenstock-Unisex-Super-Birki-San…
      https://www.amazon.com.au/Skechers-Work-Mens-Balder-Black/dp…
      https://www.amazon.com.au/Nonslip-Comfortable-Nursing-Garden…
      https://www.amazon.com.au/crocs-Bistro-Comfort-Shoes-Black/d…

Take note of the prices, and the designs. You can call these Crocs Bistro Work Clogs ugly, sure fine, but then all the other clogs that kitchen staff wear everyday are ugly, and are more expensive. So the Crocs I posted—not matter what you think of the colour and how it affects your manlyhood and sexual insecurity—is a "bargain"

Say these #1 best seller Black Hammer Mens Safety Boots went on sale for $43 and I posted them here, would that be a better "bargain"?

The boots are black, super manly, f-ing hard yakka tradie steel cap shit, get your hands dirty, punch a dart, none of those girly clog "shoes". (I personally think these are ugly af, I have tan safety boots from Kmart which I got for about $60 which are really comfortable and good quality)

After seeing all these dumb-arse comments on here, I might need a break from Oz "bargains only for straight white dudes who are totally not gay"

(nah just kidding, I'm watching the NBA playoffs, I'll be here all morning)

I'm having a good chuckle about your comment - mostly, your links, and your assumption that a pair of clogs might affect my sexuality!

I'd like you to take note of the regular crocs design, then compare it to the design of the item in your post. There aren't any significant differences - just like the comparison items you provided in your links. They are all very similar items, and you can find them costing more, or costing less, dependent on slight variations to design / colour.

You're trying to justify your post by saying "these aren't regular crocs" - but from what I can see, these ARE regular crocs. The only difference appears to be, that the toe area is enclosed and the colour looks even more awful than usual. Surely if there was something special about these Crocs - the description would highlight the extra features?! But there are none.

Anyway, I spent 30 seconds looking for cheaper ones - and I found these. Your post is not a bargain - it is just spam, in my opinion.

I'm having a good chuckle about your comment - mostly, your links, and your assumption that a pair of clogs might affect my sexuality!

Have you read the comments here?

First link is same as mine, only cheaper one is this in limited sizes by a few bucks: https://www.amazon.com.au/Crocs-Unisex-Adult-Bistro-Resistan…

My link was for most sizes when I posted

Your second link, if you spent time to check, is for very limiited sizing for all colours and none are available.

Here is a link to regular crocs: https://www.amazon.com.au/crocs-Unisex-Classic-Clog-Women/dp…

If you can't tell the difference, then I can't help you.

Surely if there was something special about these Crocs - the description would highlight the extra features?! But there are none.

          Perhaps try again?

      • +8

Have you seen the colourful shoes nurses wear in hospitals? Have you worked in a commercial kitchen?

Plenty of different colourways mate, I just happened to like this one and is one of the cheapest. There's the "bandana" colourway in black and white for a few dollars more. Would that be more acceptable?

          • @G-rig: If you cop shit in a kitchen, you just fire back. It's just banter and everyone's just having a laugh.

Did you check the prices of the other kitchen clogs I linked. $80 RRP is in line with the rest. Birkenstocks are more expensive, and are arguably better. I prefer Crocs, and a lot of my sneakers are crazy colours that people think are ugly.

              • +2

                @G-rig:

Fair enough, people just have to make up their own minds what they like and what's suitable, durable, appropriate.

                Exactly

just because they are posted on here doesn't mean everyone has to like them even for a 'bargain' price.

No one has to like them or buy them. I don't want to buy a 1tb SSD, so I just ignore it like anything else here posted as a "bargain" I'm not interested in

            • +4

@rosebank: Too right, a lot of my footwear is different to all black. I've got ocean blue, fluro green, fluro yellow, red, GOLD (my favourite lol) and purple coloured shoes.

Why not stand out from the crowd!

        • +3

FWIW i work in many hospitals. I see brightly coloured crocs like these all the time.

People are allowed to express their personalities how they feel like it, especially when they all wear boring poorly fitting scrubs all day.

Women tend to be the ones who wear bright footwear like this. Despite what OzBargain thinks, I dont really see many LGBT people wearing bright/colourful footwear in hospital.
