    Shame no SD card

    • +7

Yeah. That sucks. And no headphone jack.

      • +1

        Like that's a surprise !

    • +1

Yup. Headphone jacks have adaptors; no sd card just makes life difficult :(

      • Very difficult indeed for just 128gb, motorola so stupid !!!

      • +2

I've tried a couple of different adapters and found them hit and miss.

      • adaptors are not a replacement. They don't work as well as having the proper headphone jack on there. And its a hassle carrying them around.

    • +1

What are people using SD cards for?

      • +1

Storing music, movies, tv shows, linux isos. Whatever you want to store.

        • -2

Why not just dump it to the phone via USB?

          • @lasterato: We wouldn't have to if there is a microsd card slot.

  • +4

Sd card is reason i dont want to change ny note 20 ultra

  • Amazon too,547

    • +1

      Amazon no earbuds.

      • +2

these earbuds are fairly low quality

        • Good for $2

  • +3

Seems ok for that price. Good specs, good screen. Cant understate a 60W+ charger. Can save you in so many situation. Crap my phone is flat and I have to leave in 5 minutes…. boom 40-50%

RAM is a bit low. 12GB would be ideal

    • I thought just the phone was capable of 68W charging. Didnt know it came with one as well.

      • +12

Yeah. Apple and Samsung should listen up. If a phone 1/3 their price can include the fast charger. They can too.

And don't nobody give me that BS excuse it's for the environment.

        • +13

If their phones still sell well without charger, why would they spend extra couple bucks to include charger

        • +4

Of course it has nothing to do with the environment. Apple make it so hard to repair their phones because they want you to buy a new one and they lock millions of phones forever. If they truly cared about the environment instead of $$$ they’d be doing things differently.

    • +2

Low ram is 4GB this has 8

  • +1

This should be a normal price for this I think, given the mediocre camera. $899 RRP would be crazy.

    This or Pixel 6a?

    • +3

Not sure where you're getting mediocre from for the camera it's almost equilivant to an oppo find X2 pro in most scenarios just night photos have a different style that some may not like. Check it out in person. It's pretty decent for the price. The biggest issue is long term software updates and I found the lock button to be stiff compared to other phones but could have just been mine. Wait for the pixel 7a not worth for the pixel 6a unless you get it for a steal.

The Motorola edge 40 series is nearly out or out now that's why these are dropping. For the price they are good but keep in mind aftermarket cases range isn't too great.

      • Thanks that's great information. I will wait for Pixel 7a to drop in price. My LG G6 is still chugging along.

      • Camera is roughly equivalent to a flagship 2020 phone ay. That's not bad at all. Reviews I read state that the cameras are actually decent. Can also use gcam to further improve it according to taste.

Compared to Samsung A54 or A34 in the same price bracket currently, although Samsung has more support I prefer the Fusion. Better soc, charging speed, look and feel. Fusion has Motorola Ready For which seems like an alternative knock off of Samsung Dex which A54 does not support.

    • +5

I think the fusion is a better phone than the 6a, but if you like a smaller handset the 6a is a great option.
The fusion is more than 12 months newer and supports 68W charging vs the Pixel's 18W charging.
Performance should be really good on both phones, although the Pixel's tensor chipset is known for getting quite hot.
There are also issues with the fingerprint sensor on the 6a making it pretty much unusable.

      • Thanks that's great information. I will wait for Pixel 7a to drop in price. My LG G6 is still chugging along.

Fingerprint issue is a deal breaker though.

    • So camera is sh\t as usual for this phone?

    • Moto Think phone.

  • Need to upgrade my Poco f3 5g! Might be a good replacement

    • +1

Received mine just now! its so slim compared to Poco F3

  • +4

Motorola you compromise on support and camera. The way I see it, phones now should be getting minimal 5 years of support. That’s why it seems I’d be stuck with Samsung/google and Apple. But I have no desire to replace my phone anytime soon. Looking at Apples roadmap there’s no new major changes in phones for at least another few years. Phones are boring now but that good because cheap phones are so good and can be fine for years to come. The idea of upgrading to a new flagship every 2 years isn’t worth the change for me anymore. Of course your mileage may vary and you might be happy to drop 2k every two years on a new model.

  • Typical, a week after I finally settled on the Edge 30 after dismissing it six months earlier!
Mind you, it's $200 dearer and the only thing I desire better than on the Edge 30 is the camera - and this may or may not be much different.

    • +2

If you got the Edge 30 for the $349 deal its much better value than this, IMO.

      • Thanks. I reckon probably so, too.

      • 349 deal was so good!

      • Paying about $200 more for more premium features basically, flat vs curved screen. Better soc, build quality (thin with metal frame and glass back) charging speed, and cameras. Also thrown in wireless moto ear buds.

Build quality and aesthetic is a big factor for me.

  • Also No IR Blaster :(

  • Only one android update too, keep that in mind.

    • "Looks at LG V30+ last updated 2021…unsure of fuss…."

      • Typing on LG v30+ and thinking will I ever need a new phone?

Damn, I wish they would make more phones like this.

        • I loved my lg v20 but LG took off their mobile division not because their phones weren't any good. Just lack of marketing.

        • Replying on my LG V30+ too, vibration starting giving up, but still very snappy.

          • @onomatopoeia: My fingerprint scanner occasionally plays up but don't mind entering passcode when that happens. Otherwise, still very snappy. Also, happy with the headphone jack and quad DAC. Still get 24ish hrs between charges. Great phone.

  • Very attractive package but their os update cycle is something to be weary of.

Unless I'm wrong, this model is slated for one os upgrade (android 13). Security updates will continue till 2025 though.

  • Not bad for a phone which came out at the same time as the iPhone 14 Pro.
Tempting to pick this one up as it is a slim phone with non-plastic build.
    Good mother's day gift?!

  • Hope next sale this will go 1/2 price!

    • In a few months based on previous sales

    • Heres hoping we get a repeat of an intern doing a boo boo ala g82. Instead of discounting by say $200 prices it as $200

  • Anyone can provide feedback on the Ear Buds? I cant find much information about it, is it noise cancellation and worth more than $50?

    • Yeah, I got this and comes with Moto earbuds 600 ANC , retails $149 , but I think it is worth more than $50.

      • How's the noise cancellation? Does it work as expected? Of course I'm not comparing this against those high-end Sony buds, but is it comparable to normal Airpods?

        • I haven't used Sony buds or Airpods, so I can't compare personally, but I think this is worth more than $50.

          • @simonizmaster: The Phone has nice Viva Magenta colour, Thin and slim design with back has leatherish fabric, whereas the other colour is metal back. Simple OS with no/minimal bloatwares. with the earbuds on top, I think it's a good buy.

  • Just got an Edge 30 Neo for $450 a few weeks ago as I needed a phone but I'm liking this deal much more. Also need some ear buds so this is convenient.

I'm quite tempted to pick this up today with $500 gift cards from Coles with 10% bonus value and try to sell my Neo for $350 if I'm lucky.

Buuut it's actually not much of an upgrade over the Neo, just better chipset, slightly better screen, build quality (and camera? Not sure), and bonus ear buds, although, I'm not a fan of glass backs (one fragile side on my magic rock is enough for me thanks, what's the appeal? Just fanciness? Most people use cases anyway, I don't get it) and rounded screens irritate me with their edges picking up my fleshy palms.

Also my Neo is freaking purple 💜

I'll probably hold off on this and wait for the Edge 30 Ultra price to drop when Moto releases this year's line up.

    • Hey there!

Just wondering how the $500 gift cards from Coles works for a discount so maybe I could try it out?
I have 2% cashback tap and pay by using HSBC under $100 each transaction.

      Cheers

  • +1

I got this model from JB and the ear buds that comes with it is Moto buds 600 ANC and it's pretty good for a bundled earbuds. I like it.

    • Change the settings , its default setup is Phone calls I think. Change it to Music.

      • You mean the dolby sound settings? it's setup as auto.

  • The price went back up to $899

  • I guess we have to wait for the next sale…

  • I bought a bunch of gift cards but ultimately passed on this deal. The curved glass durability and thinness got me concerned in the end. Also lack of a telephoto camera.

    • Nah wouldn't survive bumper cars 😂

      • 😂 Hoping for the leadup to EOFY that there will be more solid deals around the corner!

  • Back on sale $498
