How often should one replace a mask? Or a cushion?

Have you used any other mask types in the past? I started full face mask, now with a chin strap and mouth strips i have the one that goes over your nose… thinking of getting the pillow ones next…
I started on the P10 (pillows, singles strap) and found it very comfortable but the stretch in the elastic does degrade, enough for them to supply plastic tightening clips. The clips were not much use so I ended up tightening with knots which was not always comfortable. I have since switched to the P30i which is pillows with straps that go around the back of the head and over the top: total game changer. The back-of-the-head strap can be adjusted on either side with the velcro fasteners but rarely requires it once set, and the 360degree motion on the top-mounted pipe is a god-send if you roll over in your sleep. Much more freedom of movement. Oh, and the neoprene(?) covers on the face pipes massively reduce facial imprints!
TL;DR P30i light years ahead of P10
Unfortunately the noise from P30i inlet is right on top of my head like someone is blowing and whispering to my ears, especially when I woke during the night … I am trying N20 and it is much better. My bad — I think I am too sensitive to the noise from area close to my skin. Maybe I should give P10 a chance.
I started off on full-face masks but that was quite uncomfortable. I switched to the P10 originally, and now I have been using the Philips Nuance Gel Pro for the past 3-4 years (with a chin strap). Switching to the pillow was a massive improvement - my AHI counts dropped from ~10 to ~2. Highly recommend trying the pillows out.
If you have a physical CPAP supplies store, you might be able to try out a new kind of mask and return it if it doesn't suit you

Fixed pressure, automatic, bipap … I have recently been diagnosed with sleep apnoea bordering on severe… does anyone have any thoughts on which type of machine is best? my GP knows nothing.
I would recommend ResMed AirSense 10 which I am using it right now. I have tried Phillips and I feel ResMed is better.
There is AirSense 11 now which has been released if you want the latest one.
When I add the ResMed AirFit p30i cushion to the the checkout after adding the RedMed AirFit p30i starter pack, it still shows up as its full price.
