I was looking at laptops and found this at the Sony website. Can't order until 5pm because of maintenance so I cannot tell you how much delivery costs. Technically pre-order, delivery on the 21st. It's because they are clearing older stock.

Model number is VPCSE15FGB.
Some specs as follows:
15.5" Full HD
i5-2430m
4GB Memory
AMD Radeon HD 6470m

For other specs check the website.

  • Cheapest FHD ive seen.

  • Wow nice price.

Too bad it doesn't come with a bonus battery sheet, gps, sim slot, w7 professional, better GPU like the 13" from the previous deal did.

Oh well. Still $799 for a FullHD display is fantastic :D

Amazing price wish I didn't buy my tablet!

    only 1920x1080? no good, need 1366x768! :P

Just be aware that Windows 8 is due in 2 month time. Therefore, chances are there will be decent deals as retailers runs out their Windows 7 stock.

    • I thought that was only affecting ultrabooks because of the new touchscreen ones coming in. I'm tossing up between buying and waiting, my partner wants to upgrade her 2009 macbook pro

    • +6

There is always something new coming, if you need it buy it.

      • I thought the ozbargain spirit is if it's CHEAP then you buy it even you don't need it…

        • +2

It's actually more like: 'buy it first, then decide whether you need it or not', I think.

    • +1

You can upgrade it to win8 for $15
I'd rather get win7 now and see if win8 is worth the upgrade later

  • anymore good deals on that sony website?

    • Not that I saw. You have to click each individual model to see if it's on special. So opening every model in a new tab then closing it if it wasn't on special was my method.

    • Seems to be about it, bonus offers on the really expensive S class I guess

  • Nice deal indeed:D

btw, from what i've looked at, the weight is 1.99 (including the battery) then the shipping fee probably is $9.95
    http://www.sony.com.au/HP/pages/SonyStyle_shippingcharges.ht…

    So in total, the price + delivery= $799+ $9.95= $808.95

    • Doubt it. I bought a Z series, and with all the extra packaging it'll push it way over the 2KG mark. Still, only an extra $3.

  • Therefore, chances are there will be decent deals as retailers runs out their Windows 7 stock.

    Really?

  • please keep in mind the saving is not $500, quick googling reveal the other store selling them below $1000

  • Is the screen a TN or IPS?

    • TFT I believe

  • Can anyone find a review?

is the battery promotion still on http://www.sony.com.au/article/474604/product/vpcse15fg ?

  • i bought this laptop a few month ago for 1299 with the extra battery. it is probably the best laptop i have owned.
the battery life using no graphics card will give you 3-5 hrs.
also if you bump it, its got an in build thing that stops the hard drive from spinning thus it is less likely in the future to fail from the pin jumping off.

over good sold build oh and very very light for the size.
    well for the 799.

  • +1

No sheet battery included. Called them up.

  • still can't decide, if this one is i7 that will be easy. Just went to sony centre, this thing is huge, but thin and light.

    • +1

an easy decision — wait for a bargain-priced SSD model — far more reliable, far faster and better batterylife than HDDs. then just buy a cheap external drive for all your backups.

    • sony centre at worldsq sydney doesnt have this. they said "this is old model we only have the latest ones - pointing at $1799 tag" yeah who will buy $1799 laptop?

      • +2

A mate just bought a $3400 top of the range everything gaming laptop. Personally i think he is fucking crazy but people do spend that much.
