Trade-in & Buy Samsung Galaxy S23 128GB for $654.10 Delivered ($200 off, $400 Bonus, $50 Newsletter, 10% Loyalty) @ Samsung

2330

Note: Mods have marked the post as 'Targeted' because you're technically at the mercy of customer service to get the loyalty discount (which is fair enough) but there's essentially a 100% success rate from what I can gather.

Looks like the deal got extended till 4th May. I've made a new post as previous post didn't include the 10% off details which I've explained below.

Further Stackables

  • $50 Newsletter voucher through here
  • 10% off Loyalty Code by emailing [email protected]. Alternatively call 1300 362 603, select option 9 on first screen, then option 4 on second screen, and explain to the rep that you want the loyalty discount. The loyalty voucher is 10% off the price after trade-in discounts and before the $50 newsletter. Note: As per comments, ask for the 10% loyalty bonus because you're trading in, the 15% bonus will not stack.

As we all know selling our old device on eBay yields much better returns than sending it in for trade-in. However if you do not send in your device, you still get the trade-in bonus, but get charged a non-return fee. This fee is $60 if your device's trade-in value is more than $60, else it's $30. So what we do is we tell the trade-in app our trade-in device has a cracked screen.

Instructions

  1. Download trade up app on your trade-in device, when going through the checks, tell it that the screen is cracked. Depending on the device, it will say the trade-in value is $1. After going through this, you'll get the trade in voucher.
  2. Obtain the newsletter and the loyalty voucher.
  3. Add the phone to cart. The trade-in bonus will not appear until adding item to cart. This is also where you input the loyalty and newsletter voucher.
  4. Buy.
  5. Comment below so I feel better about myself impulse buying an S23 Ultra.

Cost for an S23 128GB: ($1149 device cost [on sale currently] - $400 trade-in bonus) * 0.9 loyalty voucher - $50 newsletter + $30 trade-in device non-return fee

= $654.1

Also remember to fill out the other bargain for getting the free galaxy buds 2 pro even though it's expired. Who knows, maybe they'll honour it regardless.

Enjoy :)

Notes
- As confirmed in comments below, newsletter and loyalty do stack. Just might have to try a few times.
- Use eBay's 'already sold items' filter to gauge how much you can get for your old device, and then sell via eBay. Always express post for a few bucks more, customer will be much happier and less likely to want refunds.
- Do not sell on marketplace, people will lowball and ghost you to death. You will lose braincells in the thousands.

EDIT: Looks like the deal got extended yet again to 14 May. I'm guessing they're moving a lot of stock which is good for them given their horrible quarterly profits.

Excellent to hear! Don't forget to request the free buds 2 using the jot form even though it's expired.

Just to be clear for anyone else reading this, you initially pay the $623, and after 2 weeks you pay the non-return fees which is the device trade-in value = $1 and the non-return which is $30, bringing the final price to $654.

      • +1

wizko, just to clarify…so if I do not return my device (value $1 and I probably get higher from selling privately), they will charge me $30?
What about Samsung? Will they remove the trade-in bonus of $500 by charging it to my credit card since I bought it using my credit card?

        Just confirming after reading this:

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T SEND IN MY TRADE IN DEVICE?
You have 7 days to return your device to Asurion once you receive your new eligible Galaxy device. If you do not return your device within 14 days, you will be automatically charged a Late Return Fee of up to $60, which is non-refundable. The Security Charge will be held until your device is received and graded. bold Samsung may also charge you for any additional bonus credit applied to your order.

        • security charge is only on the trade in value… you would know this as you need to enter your credit card for that towards the end…

im trading my S20+ 128GB and the security temporary charge is only on $155, not $155 + $400

        • Asurion is a separate entity who handle the trade-ins. They always charge back the device trade in value + non-return fee. From Ozbargain's anecdotal data, Samsung themselves never charge back the bonus credit.

Samsung knows how all of this works, they just want to move stock when they have these promotions.

But could they change their minds? Yeah sure, and Ozbargain would collectivity have heart attacks lol.

          • @wizko: Hmmm….my trade-in value only $1. Selling private probably fetch $100. Now to think whether to return or not to return…….. :p

  • I'm tempted but selling a Galaxy S21 for $550/$600 is harder than it looks :/

    • S21s seems to be selling for around $400-500 used on eBay. I'd recommend a scheduling a 3 day auction such that the auction ends during a Sunday evening for the most chance of garnering most bids.

      • That used to be my strategy selling stuff back in 2005. Not sure that still works?

  • Wished I had of seen this deal earlier, Tried online chatting for the loyalty discount, was told it's not applicable to the galaxy s23 series (fail). Emailed them and got the same response as yoshi678 did above (fail). Phoned them and after some stuffing around for 15 minutes or so, was told yes, they'll send me the loyalty discount in 2 to 10 days, because they need someone further up the chain to authorise it (fail again, coz offer finishes today). Ahh well, to those who managed to get all the discounts, enjoy.

    • They weren't particularly cooperative via email for me so I just called them up and they immediately generated the discount. Online chatting they straight up told me they don't deal with discounts.

      • What number did you call? thanks

      • Tried calling twice and both times they just said to send an email and they insisted they can't do it over the phone. No idea how you managed to get one over the phone

Has any one tried using a service like Revolut for the trade-in and then keep their balance at $0 so they cant charge you the $30/$60 admin fee?

Or perhaps your Westpac transaction account that you only have for all the Shopback deals and keep it at $0 (though that one does need to have $2000 in it at least once a month to avoid fees)

    • +1

Your account will go into negative regardless whether you have overdrafts enabled or not. They're taking your ID down, address, and phone number so better to cop the $30 in the grand scheme of thigns.

      • +1

        Okay, fair call!

      • Not true, some debit card will not allow going to negative and yes Asurion doesn't care if it's debit or credit. And no they won't take your id unlike JB hifi.

        • Uhm, they sure took my ID the 3 times I did it. How did you avoid it? Also, Asurion do charge for the trade in value when you apply code on samsung website unless you found a way to get around it

        • how do you avoid the id check screen? I tried several times and it still asks me for id

  • Zip account and produce a 1 time use virtual mastercard.

    • Yeah you can also do that with Revolut though I suspect the hold that they place on the account will not work with single-use card numbers

      • If your traded in phone have any value this method won't work because they will straight up taking the value out of the card and only return it to you once they receive the device.

  • +3

why not to choose other earbuds
get $1 trade in and then send them those earbuds and save $30? and stop worring about other porblems with discount voucher

    • Where are you seeing this option?

    • any earbuds with Samsung logo? I have galaxy s6, which is not eligible device.. but I still have free earbuds included with s6. Can I use that one? lol

      • +1

I understand any earbuds or headphones. I will send them free I got on the plane

        • nice, I will try, thanks!

        • Goodluck with that

      • +1

Any earbuds with a Samsung logo will probably get you more money on ebay/gumtree. Choose "other" earbuds which does not even ask you for the condition of the earbuds and should be fine as long as they are not reported as lost or stolen. I have done it this morning and worked great.

    • where's this option? Not in the iphone app

      • The keyword is to SCROLL!

        • no "other" option on iPhone in the app

          • @LesDon: Then maybe it is an android only option if you tried scrolling.

    • Did this and sent in a pair of earphones from a plane. Trade in accepted and approved. Thanks!

      • My crappy, not-sure-if-still-works-but-most-likely-not no-name earbuds were also accepted and it is probably sitting in some e-waste recycling bin by now:)

Loyalty voucher seems to impossible to obtain by chat or with the phone number provided. Don't waste your time. They just refer you to send an email to [email protected] and wait who knows how long

    • During business hours it took about an hour for me, other comments have reported similar results

    • I think its luck. I tried chat before…twice to be exact (differ agent) was told same thing "S23 Ultra has massive promo now so no such voucher available". Called next day from OP posted number and voila….they read out the code to me.

    • +1

I told them on the phone that I emailed them about the voucher and that they told me I was eligible but never called me back. That did the trick for me.

  • Your $50 Newsletter Subscription Voucher has applied to the cart.
Your $450 trade-in bonus has been applied to your Galaxy S23+ along with your eligible trade-in device value. $450 trade-in bonus promotion ends 04.05.2023.

    $1,400.80

    • When you applied for the 10% discount code did you tell them you were trading in? The codes are different depending on what you are doing.

      • yes

        • Try from a private browsing window or contact loyalty again to make sure they generated the proper code for you. Unless the rules have recently changed as I was able to get them to stack last week

          • @fullspend: didn't work look like the newsletter won't work with my account anymore :| i try later

            • @NinjaSniper85: Yes you might need to use a burner email and private browsing to isolate it from your existing Samsung account

              • +1

@fullspend: To use the newsletter code, the email address has to match. I.e. the email of code request and the email used to place the order must be the same. Otherwise the code will be removed at the very last payment page. Found it out after wasting half an hour.

                • @truetypezk: Yep it says that when it gives you the code, and you can generate a new code with any burner address instantly if for some reason your primary address strips the code at checkout.

  • Finally got a 15% loyalty voucher but if you apply it it removes your trade in bonus so is useless. The newsletter voucher still works though

    • Wait
Contact them again and tell them you want the 10% off loyally code instead, they’ll resend you one

The 10% off loyalty code stacks with the trade in bonus

      • thanks ill try but am sceptical, maybe they patched it

        • No, they didn’t.
I placed an order just this afternoon.

Btw It’s almost 5, just give them a ring to save time.

@Gervais fanboy: ok thanks, ill try

@Gervais fanboy: Finally got a 10% voucher that worked but the $50 newsletter voucher no longer stacks. Still a decent deal though

    • +1

The 15% loyalty if if you aren't trading in, you need the 10% one

    • Oh you actually need to tell them that you want to trade in. I did mention that to them so they gave me the 10%

    • Reminded me the similar discussion 2 years ago for the galaxy s21. Nobody got any issue at the end and they just paid the $30. Not sure if anything has changed though. But disclamer was as scary.

      • Aha I'm scared now I committed too early before I saw the earbuds thing .. I want to keep my pixel 4a 😭

  • I just had someone from the loyalty team call me back and have offered me a 15% discount code that is current for 30 days. I'll hang fire for a day or 2 in the hope they extend the galaxy buds offer.

  • +1

    Grab a s23 256gb, but $50 couldn't be applied. Still a good deal anyway.

  • +1

Bought an S23+ as a Mother's Day gift, thanks OP! 😁

  • Another day, another discounted Samsung.

  • +3

    I have just got myself a Blue S23 Ultra 256GB for $1073!
I traded in an s7 for $1 (with cracked screen, still working) - you pay a security of the price of the traded phone ($1)
-$500 bonus for trading in an eligible phone
    -$50 Newsletter offer
-10% off using Samsung Loyalty discount. Total savings = $875. Thank you!!

    • Is it the best price possible at the moment. How someone else got it for sub $1000? is it because they took away the trade in value.

      • Yes, I suspect they got more than $1 for trade in value for whatever they traded.

  • So I tried sending email to [email protected] saying coming from S8 but then they asked me for IMEI, I thought everyone here says they don't even bother asking and just give you a code if you send email to them?

    • It depends who you get on the other end. For me, when I emailed they asked me for the IMEI of the trade-in phone whereas calling them up just happened to connect me to a rep who just generated it a code for me no questions asked.

      • I guess I'll try calling then, thanks for the reply!

  • +1

There is some sort of bug in the checkout which removes the $50 newsletter discount regardless of payment method. When I try to reeneter the newsletter code it wont apply the discount. The most annoying part is the trade in code is flagged as used when you get to this point so you have to get another code if you want to start again. Tried it incognito mode as well. I give up.

    • me too, $50 newsletter code won't apply

    • Use a burner email address in combination with incognito mode to get newsletter voucher, use same burner email address at checkout.

Edit: make sure you can still access that address in future just in case. So use your Gmail address with an extra full stop in it for example

      • Thanks but it still didn't work. It's fine up until the payment selection screen and then it removes the $50 voucher. So annoying to go through the Trade in app so many times and cop multiple $1 charges which I know will eventually be refunded but still shyte.

    • To use the newsletter code, the email address has to match. I.e. the email of code request and the email used to place the order must be the same. Otherwise the code will be removed at the very last payment page. Found it out after wasting half an hour.

      • Tried that with incognito mode and it didnt work. Then tried logging in to my Samsung account, changed email address toy newsletter email address and still no deal. I've been charged 10 x $1 by Asurian already which I manually cancelled individually by their portal just incase they dont refund it automatically.

        • Why would you want to change your Samsung account email to match the newsletter? I thought most people would prefer to do it the other way round, just request the coupon with your samsung account email address. Btw it is case sensitive too so make sure when you request the coupon it is all lower cases.

    • +1

Btw it will re-enable your trade in id if you went back to the cart and remove the trade id yourself before closing the browser. Otherwise you will have to get a trade in id.

  • When does this deal expire

  • Thanks for posting this deal. Managed to get the same price as what is posted and can vouch that newsletter and loyalty 10% both stacked.

The loyalty 10% was quite long to get over the phone but not issues, just wait time that all in all took 15mins.

It says pre-order and will be shipped by May 11 and can take 3-4 weeks. Hopefully it arrives in 3 weeks since I will overseas by Jun 5th LOL

    • Wait hold up, why does it say pre-order? Did you order one of the online exclusive colours?

      • Lots of the colours are on pre order now

  • Newsletter code worked for me and I chose pickup at my local Samsung store as it said collection in 2 days

  • My trade in ID is invalid :(

    • Uninstall and reinstall the app and do it again. Mine seemed to time out

      • same issue, didn't fix it for me..

    • I got the same, refreshed page and tried again and it worked.

  • Is it worth trading in my s21ultra or would it be more a side grade than a upgrade? A smaller phone + snapdragon CPU is what is convincing me to jump to this…

  • +3

I know this is a S23 thread, however for those with much larger pockets (pun intended) you can get the fold 4 for $1029.

    Cost for the fold 4 is: $1499 device cost [on sale currently] - $350 trade-in bonus - $100 loyalty voucher - $50 newsletter + $30 trade-in device non-return fee

    = $1029

    • For Fold4 sale finshed last night

      • yes, you are correct. It seems to have finished

  • Damn it, S23 base model only has the lavender colour left :/

  • I'm having no luck obtaining loyalty voucher. 1 x Phone call, 4 X emails. 6 x online chats .

    • I was with Janine over the phone who gave me the loyalty voucher. Ask for her if you can?

      • Got there in the end. 2nd time lucky. She waited for me to make the purchase as well. So much pressure. Can't complain for $623.20 though.

        • Which one did you get, the black one is out of stock :(

          • @ValouSydney: Lavender is the only one left I believe. You'll never notice what colour it is in a case anyway

Thanks op, gave up on this deal last night because deal was supposed to finish on the 4th, and I hadn't received my 10% off code. looked on samsung website this morning that the trade in/up is extended until the 14th, and also received my 10% off code this morning, so getting a new ultra for $876.10. Should be a nice upgrade from my s21 5g. Can confirm no issue stacking the newsletter discount as well as trade in and loyalty code.

  • I send the email about $100 (apple to samsung loyalty voucher.
    They answered
Upon checking it's a different department who provides that kind of voucher.

To futher assist you with this, please visit our website and click on the chat widget. From there, you can choose the product and shopping option for you to be able to reach the right department.

    Ask with online chat.
    They said
We don't have that option. There will be offers for Trade-up that you can take advantage with…..

  • When I get to the ordering step and enter my trade-in ID I get a message that says "You cannot proceed with Trade-in as the Trade-in ID is invalid" even though the trade-in ID was confirmed via an email from Asurion. Anyone else having a similar issue?
