Trade-in & Buy Samsung Galaxy S23 128GB for $654.10 Delivered ($200 off, $400 Bonus, $50 Newsletter, 10% Loyalty) @ Samsung

2330

Note: Mods have marked the post as 'Targeted' because you're technically at the mercy of customer service to get the loyalty discount (which is fair enough) but there's essentially a 100% success rate from what I can gather.

Looks like the deal got extended till 4th May. I've made a new post as previous post didn't include the 10% off details which I've explained below.

Further Stackables

  • $50 Newsletter voucher through here
  • 10% off Loyalty Code by emailing [email protected]. Alternatively call 1300 362 603, select option 9 on first screen, then option 4 on second screen, and explain to the rep that you want the loyalty discount. The loyalty voucher is 10% off the price after trade-in discounts and before the $50 newsletter. Note: As per comments, ask for the 10% loyalty bonus because you're trading in, the 15% bonus will not stack.

As we all know selling our old device on eBay yields much better returns than sending it in for trade-in. However if you do not send in your device, you still get the trade-in bonus, but get charged a non-return fee. This fee is $60 if your device's trade-in value is more than $60, else it's $30. So what we do is we tell the trade-in app our trade-in device has a cracked screen.

Instructions

  1. Download trade up app on your trade-in device, when going through the checks, tell it that the screen is cracked. Depending on the device, it will say the trade-in value is $1. After going through this, you'll get the trade in voucher.
  2. Obtain the newsletter and the loyalty voucher.
  3. Add the phone to cart. The trade-in bonus will not appear until adding item to cart. This is also where you input the loyalty and newsletter voucher.
  4. Buy.
  5. Comment below so I feel better about myself impulse buying an S23 Ultra.

Cost for an S23 128GB: ($1149 device cost [on sale currently] - $400 trade-in bonus) * 0.9 loyalty voucher - $50 newsletter + $30 trade-in device non-return fee

= $654.1

Also remember to fill out the other bargain for getting the free galaxy buds 2 pro even though it's expired. Who knows, maybe they'll honour it regardless.

Enjoy :)

Notes
- As confirmed in comments below, newsletter and loyalty do stack. Just might have to try a few times.
- Use eBay's 'already sold items' filter to gauge how much you can get for your old device, and then sell via eBay. Always express post for a few bucks more, customer will be much happier and less likely to want refunds.
- Do not sell on marketplace, people will lowball and ghost you to death. You will lose braincells in the thousands.

EDIT: Looks like the deal got extended yet again to 14 May. I'm guessing they're moving a lot of stock which is good for them given their horrible quarterly profits.

      Bailiffs it is then

Trade in app only accepts credit cards.

    • Can be overdraft plus bank fee for approving the overdraft. This has occured to my CBA debit card years ago, the bank fee was like $15.

    Samsung makes discount too complicated.

    5) Comment below so I feel better about myself impulse buying an S23 Ultra.

    LMAO

    • I am simultaneously depressed looking at my bank account and elated looking at my order confirmation email.

  • +1

What's the oldest/cheapest Samsung I can use for trade-in? I've got an S6. Or can I get a friend to run the trade in app, and just give me the code?

    • +1

S8. But you can also generate a code by trading in galaxy buds and it doesn't require you to imput serial numbers.

    • +2

Just choose an accessory to trade-in in the app

    • +2

S7 worked with this promo. Applied both loyalty discount code and newsletter code (stacked fine, via cash rewards window, credit card). Loyalty discount via call was faster than email. Almost no hold time. Samsung chat does not give codes.

Note the rep said there are two loyalty codes. If you are trading up, 10% can be applied. If you are not trading up and moving from Apple, 15%.

Newsletter code that worked was FTY-K9CZ-8LG2-X2C7.

  • I wonder if could say cracked fitbit screen .. could also be $1 then without worrying about IMEI
You wouldn't buy any used phone these days, esp a Samsung, as the chances of a traded IMEI on the device are pretty high, potentially rendering it useless for trading it in yourself.

    • Just trade in an "other" earbuds/headphone. There is no condition declaration required. I think a dead one might also be fine and well worth the $1.

      • Does that get done through the Trade-Up app as well?

        • +1

Yeah, just scroll down the list. All earbuds/headphones are $1 i think.

  • +1

Does anyone know if Debit cards can be used for this transaction or does it specifically have to be Credit card?

    TIA

    • I used a debit card, worked just fine. My AMEX kept getting declined.

      • Thanks for letting me know mate 😊

    • +4

Did you just pull that "downgrade your credit rating" out of your a$$?

    • Maybe you should have posted the deal prior to 30th April then?!?

  • Just an FYI I ordered a new watch from the Samsung store on 5 March and it still hasn't arrived. Apparently Samsung are "upgrading their delivery system" so we're supposed to expect 3 month delays.

  • +1

You will be charged the $400 trade in discount if you don't send the phone in.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T SEND IN MY TRADE IN DEVICE?
You have 7 days to return your device to Asurion once you receive your new eligible Galaxy device. If you do not return your device within 14 days, you will be automatically charged a Late Return Fee of up to $60, which is non-refundable. The Security Charge will be held until your device is received and graded. Samsung may also charge you for any additional bonus credit applied to your order.

    • +2

no, you will only be charged the trade-in value +$60, not trade in discount.

    • I have a feeling Samsung / Asurion will start charging the bonus credit amount as well soon as so many people are not posting in.

  • When I click on the link it says $1349 instead of $1149?

    • Got to the checkout, it’ll fix itself

  • I can't pass the address input section. Every time when I input my address, I can't select from the dropdown menu. If I select input manually, I couldn't select suburb after inputting postcode. The phone I'm using is Samsung S21.

I also have a Note 9. Even though I do get the trade-in ID, Samsung website says it's invalid.

Can anyone one help me please?

    • +1

I had this problem the other day when I was doing the trade in. What fixed it was changing the display font to huge in your phone settings then returning to the trade in app. This allowed me to select the drop down menus.

      • Thank you for helping me. I tried it, but it still doesn't work.

        • Damn. My tip would be to keep trying it in different font sizes. That's what I found on Google and it worked for me

          • @snortingkfc: I tried different fonts and sizes, but still can't pass

            • @Hank233333: I also tried different screen zoom together with font size and eventually one of the combination works for me. It's like the options weren't there so you are clicking what's behind the options, so if you zoom in enough so your click doesn't touch anything else on the background then it will works.

              • @Kingduytan: Hi Kingduytan, thank you for the method. However, I can't zoom at all.

                • @Hank233333: Oh I meant the option under Settings > Display > Screen Zoom, not actual trying to zoom the app/web page itself.

    • This also happened to me on a Galaxy S8. I set the TradeUp app to a floating window then had to tap the dropdown menu heaps of times (like 50 plus) until it finally registered. Had to do this twice as there are 2 address inputs in the app. Thumbs down.

  • Anyone else have trouble using the Samsung finance payment option? No matter what way I pay (by credit card or account number) I can't get the SMS verification code sent to me. The mobile number connected to my account is correct and I've even tried a second mobile but can't receive the SMS therefore can't checkout.

    Still can't believe i essentially paid $50 +$49x12 for my S23 Ultra

    • Link?

      • Slightly miscalculated but it was back when it came out. Not exact numbers.

$1919 (JB Hi-Fi price at the time)
        - $750 (for joining Telstra $69/M 1-year plan)
        - $300 (Device trade-in bonus)
        - Trade-in device value ($500 for my S22)

Then got $250 gift card and $20 off per month through Telstra.

    • How?

      • Slightly miscalculated but it was back when it came out. Not exact numbers.

$1919 (JB Hi-Fi price at the time)
        - $750 (for joining Telstra $69/M 1-year plan)
        - $300 (Device trade-in bonus)
        - Trade-in device value ($500 for my S22)

Then got $250 gift card and $20 off per month through Telstra.

    • just a show off without detail?

    • Yes, with another $79 a month on phone plan on top of that.

      • It was $69 a month which i got down to $49

  • Any ideas on how to split payment using discounted mastercards?

    • +1

Don't think it's possible - online systems can only deal with one card so they know if it's successfully charged in totality. separate cards means you could get into a situation where some cards are charged already, but some failed (didn't have enough credits for example), so the transaction is a fail, but some cards are already charged….

      • Good points. Thanks for input

  • +1

    Thanks OP!!

Done the impulse buying on s23u 256gb!! LOL

Btw, the newsletter voucher can't be stack with loyalty bonus. If you put both, on the payment page, you can see the price changed; removing the $50.

    So s23u $1749 - $500 (trade in bonus) - 10% (loyalty voucher) - 4% (cashreward) = $1095

    • trade in device need to be included otherwise non sending charge applied

      • +1

I am planning to send the trade-in once I received the S23U.

I read people were talking about not sending will be charged $30 (my device is $1 trade in value) and selling it private might get more. But I read in the T&C it has something like this.

See the last line. I am afraid if Samsung may charge me back for any bonus credit applied (the $500??).

Don't select phone as trade in. Select 'other' wearable device from the list headphone. You can get a wired headphone from Kmart for $9 and return it.

Also, the $50 newsletter voucher can stake with loyalty bonus as long as you 1) sign in the Samsung Account and 2) enter the same email address as the one that you use to register for the newsletter voucher. I got mine S23U for $1073.2 plus the galaxy buds 2.

          • +1

@alantsang2: how to get the buds in this deal? is another bonus promotion? thanks

            • @sohomel: The buds 2 promotion ends on 30 April.

              • +1

@alantsang2: The link to redeem the bud 2 is still active but it states the promotion ends on 30 April - https://samsung.jotform.com/231081356713855 - No harm to give it a try if you have time. This link is sent from Samsung Loyalty department.

                • @alantsang2: Just submitted. No harm trying. Thanks mate!!!

                • @alantsang2: Does purchasing via authorized retailer quality for the bonus gift Bud 2 promotion?

My mate purchased a S23+ via JB-Hi before April 30th.

          • @alantsang2: Oh, I did not sign into Samsung account but I did using the same email address registered for the voucher.

I have tried 4 times even using Chrome incognito mode everytime at the payment page it remove the newsletter voucher.

Perhaps it required one to sign into Samsung Account?

You got a very good price there for $1073 with buds2!!

            • @psychoacid: I tried Chrome incognito mode and multiple other methods but all without success. The $50 voucher just disappear when you select any payment options.

Samsung chat team suggests to me that I should create a Samsung account. You will need to sign in the account before entering the trade in code and the voucher code. Make sure you use the same email address for the Samsung account.

I should be able to bring down the price a bit but I forget about the cashreward.

              • @alantsang2: Ah, that made sense. I didn't know about the sign into Samsung account. Oh well, with cashreward getting it at $1095 still pretty good price.

OP should edit and put in the Cashreward deal as well. Its 4% which can be up to $50 savings depending on devices

          • @alantsang2: thanks for the heads up about the "other" option. I was going to trade in the old seating around S7 to get the new s23ultra for my wife. I was already at the checkout last page. But then saw your comments, and it works!! Now i am going to find an old headphone and ship it to them when this bad boy arrives!!!

By the way, all code worked for me, i did the $50 newsletter, did the trade in and called up samsung did the 10%.
s21 ultra 256gb works out to be $1,073.20.
            But i forgot the cashback!!!

    • Enjoy!!

    • Hey, I just wanted to ask how long it took for the cashrewards to track the 4% deal. I bought the ultra at 10am this morning and I still have no notification from cashrewards

      • Within 5min for me

        • Ok thanks. I guess I'll have to wait and see

  • How to grab iphone- samsung bonus ?

    • I read people posting about this. What is iPhone-Samsung bonus? I trade in my old iphone badly cracked screen.

    • +2

      don't think it's valid for s23 range

  • Can anyone link me to where to claim the buds promotion ?

    • The buds 2 promotion ends on 30 April.

      • Yes but I purchased before then in April, but I can’t see anywhere to claim ?

  • So how can I trade in my old samsung earbuds?

  • Excuse my ignorance - if you don't send the phone how do you get the $400 credit?

    • +1

Because the credit is given when you purchase. What people don't realise is that if you don't return the phone Asurion may charge your CC the trade-in credit you received when you purchased, and not just the $30/$60. This is what happened to me. Be careful with Asurion.

      • +1

This thread may turn into a s**tshow if Asurion end up doing that lol

      • -1

You get charged the trade in credit for your phone, but not the trade in bonus.

        • Well if your phone has $1 trade in value then there's no reason not to keep your old phone.

      • When did this happen ? Hoe much did you get charged ? Got me worried😅

  • Happy with my S23 256gb purchase for $680 at JB Hifi. 2 year local warranty. Had to rizz the staff which was fun.

    • May I ask how you did that? Or was it a previous JB deal?

      • +2

Was the most recent JB deal with $400 bonus code using JB square trade up (without sending your old device in).
        Price matched with this:
        https://bestmobilephone.com.au/samsung-galaxy-s23-5g-dual-si…
Straight up $680 for 256gb version.

        • thanks for sharing :)

        • @Handymancan Did you do it online or in store?

          • @vrb: In store, the most fun and rewarding way to get it done. You either get rejected or try again at another store until you succeed.
The stores that you succeed at are where you want to bring your future business.

  • Thanks for posting, quick question, does the S23 AU version have the "Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2" and not Exynos?

If I go to https://www.samsung.com/au/smartphones/galaxy-s23/specs/, it just says:
    Processor
    CPU Speed
    3.36GHz, 2.8GHz, 2GHz
    CPU Type
    Octa-Core

It doesn't tell you whether its SnapDragon or Exynos?
Ps. I am keen on SnapDragon for the emulator purpose :D

  • Anybody know if one can get another loyalty discount if received one earlier in the year?

    • The lady I spoke to said if you want another loyalty discount code for another item (not a phone again) feel free to call up again

      • thanks, did you have to give an imei number?

        • No I didn’t

  • +1

Thanks Wizco for the detailed instructions. I have seen these posts before and it all seemed to hard. But I have just order a Graphite S23 256GB for $713.20 following your detailed step by step which I am very pleased about. Looking forward to retiring my S9.

When speaking to Samsung customer care to get the trade in code they mentioned I would be eligible for some samsung galaxy buds and gave me another code in the email. Any idea how that is claimed?

  • Thank you for contacting Samsung Loyalty Team.
Our team is currently closed but we will connect with you during our operating hours (Monday to Sunday 9am-6pm AEST).
For faster transaction, please reply with your contact number and best time to call. We value your experience and will be in touch as soon as possible.

    .,…….

    • Call them up? That's what I did because they were slow to respond to my emails.

      • Thanks.
        What's phone number.

    • Same. I called and said i would be contacted but nothing so far

Good thing Samsung has low prices because their customer service is just absolute sh*t! compared to Apple it is night and day how easy it is to sort something out. Most of the time it is impossible to get in contact with the right people at Samsung

  • Omg I just got the Pixel 7 last week.

  • +3

    I just purchased S23 for $623.20 following OP's steps - thank you!

    Was able to successfully apply:
    - Trade in ID
    - Newsletter promo
    - Loyalty promo obtained from Samsung rep over the phone (they had called me after I sent them an email)
