Trade-in & Buy Samsung Galaxy S23 128GB for $654.10 Delivered ($200 off, $400 Bonus, $50 Newsletter, 10% Loyalty) @ Samsung

2330

Note: Mods have marked the post as 'Targeted' because you're technically at the mercy of customer service to get the loyalty discount (which is fair enough) but there's essentially a 100% success rate from what I can gather.

Looks like the deal got extended till 4th May. I've made a new post as previous post didn't include the 10% off details which I've explained below.

Further Stackables

  • $50 Newsletter voucher through here
  • 10% off Loyalty Code by emailing [email protected]. Alternatively call 1300 362 603, select option 9 on first screen, then option 4 on second screen, and explain to the rep that you want the loyalty discount. The loyalty voucher is 10% off the price after trade-in discounts and before the $50 newsletter. Note: As per comments, ask for the 10% loyalty bonus because you're trading in, the 15% bonus will not stack.

As we all know selling our old device on eBay yields much better returns than sending it in for trade-in. However if you do not send in your device, you still get the trade-in bonus, but get charged a non-return fee. This fee is $60 if your device's trade-in value is more than $60, else it's $30. So what we do is we tell the trade-in app our trade-in device has a cracked screen.

Instructions

  1. Download trade up app on your trade-in device, when going through the checks, tell it that the screen is cracked. Depending on the device, it will say the trade-in value is $1. After going through this, you'll get the trade in voucher.
  2. Obtain the newsletter and the loyalty voucher.
  3. Add the phone to cart. The trade-in bonus will not appear until adding item to cart. This is also where you input the loyalty and newsletter voucher.
  4. Buy.
  5. Comment below so I feel better about myself impulse buying an S23 Ultra.

Cost for an S23 128GB: ($1149 device cost [on sale currently] - $400 trade-in bonus) * 0.9 loyalty voucher - $50 newsletter + $30 trade-in device non-return fee

= $654.1

Also remember to fill out the other bargain for getting the free galaxy buds 2 pro even though it's expired. Who knows, maybe they'll honour it regardless.

Enjoy :)

Notes
- As confirmed in comments below, newsletter and loyalty do stack. Just might have to try a few times.
- Use eBay's 'already sold items' filter to gauge how much you can get for your old device, and then sell via eBay. Always express post for a few bucks more, customer will be much happier and less likely to want refunds.
- Do not sell on marketplace, people will lowball and ghost you to death. You will lose braincells in the thousands.

EDIT: Looks like the deal got extended yet again to 14 May. I'm guessing they're moving a lot of stock which is good for them given their horrible quarterly profits.

love the detailed maths you did. 👍

Isn't the non-return fee much higher now?

    • Yes, I'd like to know this as well. OP I assume you can vouch it's $30 with the cracked screen approach?

      • I thought samsung put the trade in value in some kind of pending charge to your card and if you don't send the device in, they take the trade in value that was pending.

        • Plus non return fee

        • They put a pending charge on the value of your phone when you trade it in. If you don't send the phone back within a week of receiving your new phone you're charged that pending fee + a late fee (I think it's $60). So realistically, if you have a semi recent phone it's best to just utilise the trade in bonuses, eat the cost of the pending charge + late fee and sell your old phone elsewhere

          • @Kozhutki: So the Security charge it now talks about during the process is only the trade in value? so for me if its $1 they will only charge that as the security charge and then eventually the late fee?

It didnt have this security fee info when i did this process to get my S21 Ultra a few years back so i stopped as it doesnt actually tell me how much the security fee is in the app.

          • @Kozhutki: Its quite clear in the T&Cs
a charge equivalent to the estimated trade-in value of your devices(s) will be placed against your valid credit/debit card until we receive and complete our final assessment of your eligible device (after which the charge will be refunded)

          • @Kozhutki: Incorrect. Read the T&Cs

      • Yup, i paid $30 for the cracked screen

      • cracked screen approach that you don't need to send your old phone?

    • +11

Gotta be very careful with this stuff. I got charged the entire trade in value of my S20 Ultra (by Asurion) when I traded up for a S22 Ultra. They took the money off my credit card despite actually sending the phone back and it took 2 months and many threats to get the money returned to me.

      Just a warning.

      • +1

I've also had a terrible experience with Asurion. Ordered an S23 direct from Samsung with trade in discount when they were first released. Estimated shipping times were too long as I had to travel overseas so I cancelled the order.

In the end Asurion has charged me $1 checking fee, $55 device fee and $60 no return fee ($116 total) despite returning the phone to Samsung, receiving a refund in full from Samsung and sharing all this information with Asurion.

@Abbi, any tips you can share to help? I am still trying to get my money back from Asurion!

        • In your CC statement, these deductions comes as Samsung or Asurion? or something else?

        • +1

No a lot really other than persevering, presenting them of evidence of the phone being delivered and signed for, continued perstering, and threats of lodging a dispute with the the Consumer Commission, and lodging a credit card chargeback with the bank. If it starts taking unreasonably long then just go to your bank and lodge a chargeback.

I vowed to never have anything to do with Asurion again in my life.

    • -1

Could you just wait until you get the new phone, then claim the credit card as lost? They cant charge you after that right?

      • Credit card companies have what's called a holding authority.. They seem to be able to charge any time.. At least this is what's happened to me with a card I closed. Company's could still charge on it, if they had before

      • +2

        U that desperate?

  • Has anyone here ever successfully paid for their orders using Samsung gift cards?

  • -1

Just fyi, newsletter and loyalty vouchers doesn't stack together, loyalty takes precedence over newsletter.

    • +1

We have someone saying they indeed stacked them from this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/768946 thread?

      By user: Charlieeee

They also apparently got another $100 off voucher by telling Samsung support he was switching from iPhone.

      • Well in my experience, it does stack but overridden the newsletter discount. Let us know ur experience

        • +1

I already used the newsletter voucher before so I only used the loyalty code.

Unfortunately it did not occur to me that I could have just made a new account 🙃

        • It will work on new account or an account that has never used it before.

        • Same with me. did not stack.

        • +2

it stacked when I bought my S23 Ultra, I just had to re apply the newsletter code

          • +1

@OzGardian: Same here! Had to delete code and reapply and they stacked.

      • I bought the s23ultra 2 weeks ago. I was not able to stack the iphone (10%) discount with all the other discounts outside of the newsletter. So in the end I didn't bother using the iphone discount because it didn't stack with the trade in and it ended up being 200-300$ more expensive than doing the trade in + newsletter

    • In my experience, they do stack if you pay by paypal.

      • They do stack with credit card payment too. Bought a fold 4 in 884 (+$30 for not sending the device) yesterday.

        • How did you get this low?

          • +4

            @Thegood05: Current fold 4 price = 1499 - 350 (trade/in bonus) - 114.9 (10% loyalty Voucher) - 100 (apple to samsung loyalty voucher) - 50 (sign up voucher) = 884.1 - the trade-in device value + 30/60 (Device non-return fee)

            • @Dagg: I'm about to get one but the 40% off fold is not valid anymore.

              • @daoddv: Bad luck dear. The only thing I can help you with is, I placed the 1st fold 4 burgundy color order without the trade-in credit but with15% off voucher. The cost is $1275. I was thinking of returning it. If you are happy in this price, let me know.

    • +5

They do stack. I purchased a s23 ultra 256gb for $885.10. Traded in, news letter and loyalty code all worked.
The Apple to Samsung offer doesn't apply to the s23 range though

      • I purchased a s23 ultra 256gb for $885.10

When was this? Seems like they currently only have the 128 and 512gb models?

        • This was on Friday and my phone is arriving today

    • +1

They stacked from the second attempt for me. Paid with CC

    • +4

They do stack. Just reapply if you don’t see them stacking up. I purchased S23 Ultra last week using both.

  • +3

May the 4th be with you.

    • +2

      Always

      • +1

        This is the way.

        • +1

I finally get these references after watching The Mandalorian

  • How do they charge you the non-return fee? Do they send u a bill or something?

    • Your registered credit card during trade-in process.

  • Good price, is the S23 the latest?

I got a Pixel 7 Pro, last time couldn't even trade in my Pixel 2 😂

    • +1

      s23 is the latest series

  • Can anyone confirm asking by email even work for the 10% loyalty code.

    • I got the 10% loyalty voucher over the samsung chat always. They will give you immediate.

      • I said i was switxhibg from iphone to galaxy and they said we don't 9ffer codes for that just trade in.

        • +1

It depends whom you are chatting with. If one person does not give, the other will give. I tried this and worked for me.

      • +2

All my chat agents were unable to give me one. I had to email [email protected] and they replied within 20 mins

      • What customer service department did you contact to get the discount? Live chat redirected me to the email because they apparently did not handle loyalty discounts.

        • +4

Open Samsung.com, open the chat bot. Navigate to Support -> Product Queries -> Mobile Device $ wearables -> select “Yes, this is correct” -> Select Loyalty Voucher -> select I’d like to enter a new query and type in Loyalty vouchers again and the agent will come and you can straight away ask for either 10% or $100 voucher if you are trading a device. It not, ask for 15% loyalty voucher. Hope this makes sense. Please ask for one thing at a time. After receiving the voucher, close the chat, open a new one and ask for another voucher.

    • +4

I emailed [email protected] and explained I wanted to upgrade from a galaxy s8. They gave me a 10% off code with no further questions.

    • I asked by email last week and they called me within 2 hours, got the IMEI for my trade in and gave me a 10% discount code

  • +9

The stupid part is that’s all a SgS23 is worth

    • +8

None of these phones are worth >$1000. it's ridiculous

    • +1

Nope this is a big improvement on battery

    • Yeah, I paid $600 for my pro 7 and they emailed up and gave me a 256gb
So it'll last me years lol

  • +4

I did this for the S23 256gb a couple of weeks ago. Did a trade in on a galaxy s8 for $1, $50 newsletter code and 10% loyalty voucher resulting in a purchase price of $713.20. Won't be sending in the s8, so it should end up $744.20.

Also qualified for free buds2 earbuds which I have claimed.

Btw, the 256gb version has faster storage compared to the 128gb.

    • nice1, same went the extra few dollars for the 256gb improvements over the 128gb.
I did the exact same coupon stacking with a trade in for s20+ - came to the same $713.20
when doing tradeup - just said it had a line on screen - that made trade-in value $1.
got delivered to samsung kiosk store in about 4 business days, picked up yesterday.

and now that this deal is extended I'm second guessing if I want to go back to large screen s23 ULTRA…#firstworldproblems

    • +1

      They accepted the s8?

      • Yes galaxy s8 is still able to be traded in on the app.

  • What is this deal about the buds 2 pro? I cant seem to find it

    • +15

That's good to know. Thanks for sharing.

  • -6

Good luck receiving anything you order from Samsung's website.

Also, good luck escalating and getting any response. Their call centre is hopeless and gives you a new lie with each call. Promise call backs which never happen.

    Am done with Samsung.

    • Amazingly I received my s23 in 2 business days. Ordered on a thursday, sent friday, received monday. I think it depends on what type of items you order.

      • Same. Some people are just born unlucky.

    • I have bought multiple things from the Samsung store in the past 5 years and I have received them all within 2 days

    • +1

They have no idea. I got down voted for warning. They will be banging their head if they have to deal with a Samsung regards to delivery, re-delivery or refund. I’m still waiting for my $1700 and I have been in touch with them probably 30 times. Everything you say is sent to the back office and will never be dealt with. Kiss your money good bye. For how they treat their customers I wouldn’t give my one cent to any of their products. This is what I meant. It’s a worldwide scam of theirs. Search it up!

  • +4

These aren't selling, hence the deals..

    • +4

Most likely because of the sub par cameras. Samsung needs to pull their head in, if they want to keep up with Apple and Google

      • Yep really really unhappy about that. They nearly got me.

      • +1

Not that I might have noticed personally but they also cut the memory on the things.

At that kind of money, what?… Cmon

  • +2

The s23 and s23+ don't really seem to be flagship devices unlike the s23 ulta when I've played with them in store. This is just holding them and swiping around the screen. I don't know they just felt and looked cheap.

The pixel 7 and pro felt like flagship devices.

  • +1

Its only offering 1$ for my s21 ultra? Does it apply the 400 bonus at the very end?

    • yup

      • Thanks

    • +1

You will get a code from the trade up app that you use at the checkout screen when placing the actual order. It's just like the newsletter code and loyalty codes which all stack.

      • Thanks. New phone I dont need for me.

    • +1

Wait why is an 21 ultra worth $1? Shouldnt it be like 100-200 + 400 trade in bonus

      • +2

It was 315 but i said the screen is cracked and im pulling the 1 dollar trick

  • -1

How much would they sell on marketplace

    • -1

      Somewhere between $0 - $1349

  • +1

OP. How much did S23 Ultra cost you?

  • -1

Can anyone please explain me why to say "tell it that the screen is cracked." ?? Can't I just let it run though normal checks if phone is perfect condition? Or samsung doesn't ask to send the phone actually if we select cracked screen?

    • +4

      read the description…

" However if you do not send in your device, you still get the trade-in bonus, but get charged a non-return fee. This fee is $60 if your device's trade-in value is more than $60, else it's $30. So what we do is we tell the trade-in app our trade-in device has a cracked screen."

  • My trade in value is $465 and they took it out, my total cost $704.40 with the code for a 512gb model (fold 4), did I get ripped off ? =$1,170 (not including the $30-60 fee). I think the $50 voucher didn’t go through but the salesperson said both vouchers were applied :s

    • Ummm .. you bought a Fold 4. This post is about S23 range

      • I know but similar system

  • How do you cancel trade in or do you just not send anything and it will auto cancel?

    • +1

It seems they are impossible to cancel - the button disabled and they say to contact Samsung to cancel the phone order.
So, basically you don't send the trade-in device and waiting for the late fee.

  • +1

They actually accept not only phones as trade in devices. Some other stuff, like earphones and fit bits which don't require IMEI.

  • What happens if I only have $5 in my debit card account that I used for the trade in?
