I really like ASUS routers - problem is - once you get a good one, it works for years and years and years and you dont feel like you need an upgrade :-D

After years of tplink, netgear and ubiquity fw issues, mediocre wifi, and crap gaming experience I will only buy asus again.

  • Asus is bloody amazing for Broadcom hardware!

Though, I think you're nuts to stretch the budget this far and not go that bit further for 6E.

High end routers can last a decade, but less likely if you're not buying the latest standard.

Not that it'll break; just that its missing a frequency that might become popular.

    To each their own.

    • I initially thought the same, but the only Asus router sold in Australia (that I could find) that offered 6e was the AXE11000 which is $1,000+.

You could go with another brand I guess but a 6e router will still be more expensive, and the reviews I've read say that this router is an extremely high performer, so this was the best option in the price range. That was my totally uneducated conclusion after a few days of research.

WiFi 6 is plenty good enough imo.
The top spec of anything is 2-3x the price but not 2-3x as good, value wise.

  • It was cheaper in March, $446 plus free wifi adapter. I missed that deal and have been waiting for it to come back.

  • Great router

  • How does Asus know you already owned a router in table 1? The registration form seems to require details only for the new router in table 2.

    • Great question, I wasn't going to bother entering for the cashback until I read your comment. Thanks for pointing this out!

I wonder if when it asks for a pic of the invoice and serial number it's actually referring to your old router from table 1, but we'll find out I suppose.

These bonuses don't cut it with price protection, need the ax6000 to go under 400$.

    • The recent interest rates hikes, slow sales and inventory build up is likely to make your wish come true before EOFY

Anyone using this on a double storey house and can provide feedback?

    • I ended up pulling the trigger anyway, let’s see how it goes

      • It should be fine I reckon, full bars in an apartment .
Anyway you could always get another cheaper one to create a mesh, then use the cashback :).

  • Hi
Anyone comfirm they are eligible for asus 100 promo thru this deal via ebay.
    thanks c

I did apply but status says "Login activity - not processed yet".

  • Great deal with a 43% saving (if you already have a Asus Router which can give you back $100 and eBay Plus Membership).
At ~$300 for this router (after rebate from Asus) this is an awesome deal for a really well received and highly rated Wifi 6 router.

I already have this router and the wifi 6 range is fantastic and covers my downstairs really well, including outside in the backyard.
Considering replacing a 1Gb 8x port switch I have in the attic with this router (as a mesh unit), using ethernet backhaul to main router.
The Ai-mesh extension would probably tick off the neighbours considering how strong the wifi signal is already.

    • yes even for $400 it's a great price.
Wouldn't prefer a more upright and less gamey style but can't complain .
Full wifi bars in the apartment and it's jsut sitting on the floor.
