  60-points safety inspections in Metro Sydney, valued around $250

  How come safety inspections "valued" more than most minor services? Moreover, does that equate to getting a pink slip (as part of rego in NSW)?

    minor service is generally:
    change oil (with cheap oil)
    change oil filter (with cheap oil filter)
    shake a couple of things to see if they're tight
    drive around the block

    vehicle inspections normally go into a lot more detail about the condition of the car

    I think most of it is "risk" - in other words if they put their stamp on a piece of paper saying they inspected it, then later on after you buy it and it turns out to be a lemon due to some fault that they should've spotted, then they'd be liable. It's basically a form of insurance/risk mitigation for people who know nothing about cars.

  I received my inspection the next morning. The inspection was done on my own car. Includes a full CarHistory.com.au report and a log of all problems found.
