  • Do you happen to know the lowest price for a comparable LG?

  • any deals on good dryers?

    • Me too, I am looking for a good 9KG heat pump dryer.

what do you think about a dryer/washer combo?

        • +2

Wouldn't touch them. They never work properly and invariably break.

Two separate units is much much better.

          • @placard: Yeah but the fact that you need to unload from one and reload the other is a pain.

            • +1

@Man10United: From memory most of the combined units can only dry a partial load - ie 4kg when the washing part can do 7-8kg. So you end up having to do smaller loads this way.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, most of the combined units are old style condenser units that use a heap of water in the drying process so are very inefficient.

The only upside is compact. Everything else is a downside - ie they aren't heat pump, they can't dry full load, they are notoriously unreliable.

Is it really a pain for the 30-60 seconds it takes to load from the washing machine?

              • +2

@placard: Yes the dryer part of a combo machine is pretty terrible.

It’s not the time and effort that’s the disadvantage, it’s having to be there to do it.

It’s convenient having your clothes cleaned and dried while you’re sleeping or at work or sleeping at work.

And depending on where you live, you might dry things on a clothesline 9 months of the year. If you have space for two machines, you might be better off with two washer/dryers rather than one of each. Double-speed laundry in summer, same-same in winter.

Was thinking of buying this but went ahead with Westinghouse top loader. The spider arms on most of these front loader will eventually break + cant deal with mould and stink in the front loader anymore. They are much better on water / energy consumption though.

    • Does the top loader get less mould and stink than the front loader?

      • +2

Yeah I think it hardly gets any mould/stink as the door is not vacuum sealed. The drum air dries

  • I have this machine. Beware that although it's rated at 8.5kg, the size of the drum is closer to a 7.5kg machine. Otherwise it's a very nice machine with a 3 year warranty. I don't believe that it was $749 anytime recently however, I paid this same price weeks ago.

  • Had this washer. Mine was shaking too much even when it was washing light load. Had to get the Hisense technician to come and check it twice. I ended up returning and getting the 10kg version (which is way better in my opinion). The after sales service is really good though.
