  • The price is good, but despite being newer, the E3 lacks the LED layer that the TicWatch is known for. Conversely, the Pro 3 has the LED layer, but it appears to have been removed from Amazon, potentially to make room for the new TicWatch model.

    • Amazon Canada mistakenly posted product listing for the upcoming replacement a couple of weeks back (now removed). It was announced something like 18 months ago at the launch of the Qualcomm processor it will use. Since then, crickets.

Do have a read around for the level of support you'll get from Mobvoi.

Bear in mind it's Wear OS 2 and there's no current upgrade path to Wear OS 3 (was promised last year, now they're saying Q3 2023 at earliest). Other negatives too many to list here. Caveat emptor.

    • Bought the first gen E, went out of support alarmingly fast after release.

    Is this garbage?

    • Just very much understand its limitations

  • From my experience those buttons look good but end up getting caught on things occasionally in everyday use, eventually I snagged the top one on something and it came off, I couldn't get it back on either. For my next watch I made sure it had low profile buttons!

It's cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 but not by much. In terms of software / specs the Watch4 is superior since it's running a 5nm process node, has ECG, LTE (optional) and runs Wear OS 3.

The only advantage this has over the Galaxy is the much larger battery size, but this watch is thicker and larger in dimensions.

  • Have this from last mobvoi workout event and change to Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 last year, would only recommend watch 4 as e3 is thick, laggy, lack of support and no play store. I would wait for more watch4 clearance if needed.

Not a bad watch, the build is very plastic with a band that isnt the most comfy. The main go for this watch (when it was released), was the processor and it was to get the latest wear os version, which did not happen, so not sure if its worth the price anymore.

    • Has been this price multiple times this year (including all of jan/feb)

      • Yep, I paid same in Oct 22. Replacement can't be too far off

  • Don't go for this outdated watch. Not worth it.

Nope, loving my PineTime too much :D

Cool, never knew an open source smartwatch (like the raspberry pi) existed, I'll go check them out :D
Thanks for letting me know about this.
Edit: oh wow, I wasn't expecting a whole lineup of devices, I sure am surprised (in a good way)

PineTime and the PineCil are both amazing devices, I have a fwe of both for family and job sites.

      • What those guys have managed to do in PineTime with 512KB flash and 64KB RAM is crazy. And shows what an overbloated mess Wear OS really is.

        • +1

Yeah, I wanted basic pebble features.
No nags or bother, Week+ battery life, no data mining on the phone, and simple 'whos calling' 'whos messaging' and reminder alerts on my wrist.
After trying Garmin, WearOS and Tizen; For sub$50 landed, I've never been happier to have ended up with a PineTime (since the Pebble.)

And the PineCil? Well, there's zero bad to say about it. Literally zero.

        • same can be said with many (not all) modern developers these days, almost no optimisations on software compared to the previous millenium. Sometimes having less really can be more.
