Holy that's cheap for the 2tb and 7gbps

  • 2 TB sold out already!

    Edit: back now

  • +1

    This or Samsung 970 pro?

    • +4

Do you mean 970 Evo Plus? Both are PCIe Gen3, Evo Plus speeds are 3,500/3,300 read/write
If for game/storage, 970 Evo Plus is adequate. Boot drive probably adequate as well tbh for average user. This Adata would be better if doing large transfers consistently such as certain video editing.
2 TB model is similar price - I'd get this. 1 TB is about $10 difference depending on shipping - up to your needs/location

Very good SSD with 2 drawbacks (IMO):
    - Double sided. Might be an issue if you want to install it inside a laptop
    - Glued “heatsink”. It could be difficult to remove if you want to replace it with a chunkier heatsink for PS5.

Edit: The thermal paste is sticky and can be hard to remove once installed, but the heatsink isn’t preinstalled. The review I read had a preinstalled heatsink but it should not happen on retail version.

  • Will Amazon price match?

  • How can I tell if my MB will support PCIe gen 4?

    • +1

Shouldn't matter. I believe you will just get gen 3 speed if that's what you MB is.

      • Backwards compatibility is fine but there's no point paying for gen 4 when gen 3 is cheaper by a few bucks.

    • +3

Should be on the specs page for your board

      • Cheers mate. Looked up the specs and all of the HDD options are for PCIe Gen3x4 so that settles it.

  • I want to use it as an external drive, which enclosure will go with this?

  • Is the firmware for this end user upgradeable?

    • It is

    • Genuine question:

How often do people update firmware on a HD these days?

      • Not sure about windows (may be through regular windows updates or using SSD manufacturer supplied tools) and on Linux it is via fwupdmgr tool.

      • I did it immediately on the 4TB MP34 I bought and checked if it was possible on the 500GB 980 I bought too.

        • What advantage did you get from it? Is it a bug fix?

          • @pharkurnell: I think it was a patch/bug fix to correct SMART data relating to "media and data integrity errors".

hopefully they put the Kingston fury on sale soon :C

Thank you OP, been waiting on a good deal for a 2TB or greater Gen4 NVME drive. Shame that the instore locations were sold out for click and collect but at least the shipping costs weren't insulting. ($10)

When I got my first M.2 NVME drive from this deal I thought and still think I got a great deal for the time. Incredible to think I'm getting double the capacity of even higher performance storage for significantly less money after a few short years.

I spent $180 on a 500gb 970 evo plus 3.5 years ago, seeing these prices even with inflation is amazing

      • I share the same sentiment, we might have half decent internet now but games are only getting bigger and I don't want to have to constantly uninstall/reinstall games to make room. To go even further back, my first ssd (250GB Samsung 840 Evo) I think cost me around $200 odd from memory a decade ago. Still using it to this day :')

        • +1

Haha my first SSD was a 64 GB Crucial M5 which cost about $110 in 2012. Amazing how far the tech has come!

  • +4

Thanks Op bought 2TB to upgrade my 512GB NVME

  • Hi does it work with a NUC 11?

  • That was quick - 2TB sold out already

  • Love the price, don’t like the shop though. Goodluck RMAing stuff from this clowns.

    • I bought an SSD online, but it never got dispatched. Had to ask for a refund after a few weeks of waiting.

  • Would this be good for an external backup drive?

  • +1

    Thanks OP, grabbed the 2TB

  • Good for ps5? Someone on Amazon said it bricked their console.

I've had a 1Tb in my PS5 for a few weeks, but I barely play any games off it, it seems to be fine and runs at 6300 MB/s according to the PS5 speed test when I installed it. I'm not sure what firmware version I'm on, I forgot to check before I installed it, oops.

Now I wish I waited for this deal, 2Tb is only $54 more than I paid for a 1Tb.

      • Okay, sweet I just bit the bullet on the 1TB anyway lol. 2TB would've been worth it by the sounds of it, but I'd rather save the money tbh.

    • A few people on reddit also said it bricked their PS5s.

      https://www.reddit.com/r/playstation/comments/si9fjl/xpg_gam…

    • that alone would make me pass on buying one - the risk is too great….

      • Ah well we'll see how it goes lol. It seems the problem disappears for most people when they remove the SSD.

    • I’ve had one in mine for 4 months and had no problems

  • Whats the best solution to image current 1TB Nvme and directly copy over this 2TB (dont have slots anymore). I'm assuming make it an external drive with an enclosure first?

    • I'll have to do this too. I assume you can book some cloning software from USB so that you can take out your SSD with your OS on it and put in the blank one, allowing you to clone the other SSD to it (assuming you have at least 2 m.2 slots)

      • Macrium Reflect if you are in windows.
Clonezilla also works if your drives are not encrypted. But most windows installations likely will have Bit locker on

    Pre-ordered a 2TB, fingers crossed

    Great price! Good first post

  • 1TB sold out 2TB sold out 4TB too expensive..

ETA: 17th of May isnt bad really either.

  • What would people recommend for a budget NVMe drive with 2Tb + DRAM (PCIe 3 or 4)? Finding it very hard to search for cheap options since most listings don't seem to list DRAM presence in specs.

  • +1

Did anyone get the delivery? 6 days have passed.

    • When i contacted their support (15/05), they said they're getting stock on the 19/05.

      • +1

Yes, I too got same info from online chat today.

  • +2

Back in stock! Both 2TB and 1TB

    • Would be nice if they shipped the ssds to the people who ordered last week before 'selling' another lot…

      Edit:
Spoke with the customer support again. Apparently they define 'in stock' differently to everyone else.

"Thank you for waiting. According to our system, the ETA is on this Friday 19th of May. The in-stock could be the system updated itself. As you can see all the location has no physical stock yet."

      Looks like another pre-order.

      • mmm. oh well, hopefully they ship them in the same order as they received them

  • My 2TB order has just been sent!

    • same, and I pre-ordered in the first round :))

      • The auspost tracking has no updates. Looks like the label was created but the item is yet to reach Auspost.

        • happens sometimes. Mine is working fine, expecting to arrive tomorrow.

  • Can anyone confirm if the components are as expected given the chicanery by Adata and others in the past?

  • +1

    Mine came today!
