Not even close to a bargain.

I was going to say the same thing until I saw the weight-bearing capacity!

I think I pay $220 for 200kg per shelf, so $299 for 900kg per shelf seems pretty reasonable (though the ones I buy are slightly larger).

Heck yeh 900kg is impressive capacity for the price, some people just want a shelf to store random crap so to them this may not be a bargain, but in a workshop scenario with things made of steel this is a bargain

Much cheaper for essentially the same thing, this is just one example, there's plenty others.

I know because I fit out warehouses for a living.

Another issue with the linked 'bargain' is it's wire shelves, they're useless for some storage.

        • "useless"

The particle board shelves most of them come with grow mold in about 30 seconds in QLD.

        • This is a total 800kg, not per shelf. I've got some of those.

          • @RubenM: Total load capacity: 3628kg evenly distributed
Each shelf load capacity: 907kg evenly distibuted

              @RSmith: I was replying to Vincent's link.

            • @RSmith: There isn't a chance in hell that the safe loading for that racking is nearly 4 tonne no matter how evenly spread the weight is. Most slabs and normal people won't safely be able to store that much weight with that device either.

Both the 'bargain' item and the one I linked to will be made very similarly and will take the same loading.

The 'bargain' item won't be able to store anything that isn't bulky though, any small tools will fall through the holes in the mesh, feet will get stuck in them etc.

If you are considering storing tonnage on one of these in your home garage, please, PLEASE consider contacting a professional to install it, I'd recommend dyna bolting the frame to your slab with at least 10mm bolts, anchoring the tops to your studs (or preferably concrete tilt slab) and securing the beams.

Warehousing with less weight on more heavy duty racking needs all these requirements to be safe and legal and for good reason.

Again, I highly doubt anyone could install this on their garage, load it up with 3.6+ tonne and have it be safe.

    • $299 > $599

        "$299 > $599"

Would you believe, it's actually not!

      • username checks out.

    • Maybe you should have a look at them, you will definitely change your mind.

  • It says $599.98, not $299.99

    • In store price is $299.99

  • Saw it in store today for the price of $299.99
