Bargain. Great for an office mouse. Throw those Dell mice in the bin.

Throw those Dell mice in the bin

Please don't? Recycle them instead properly!

      • just figured out Officeworks does free tech recycling the other week. shamed myself for not doing it sooner.

    • -1

I'd rate Razer on about the same level as a free Dell mouse.

Fancier design and more buttons, less reliability.

I'd be tempted anyway at such a cheap price for a disposable wireless mouse, but reports that it won't work with eneloops kills it for me. On the other hand, I've got the $10 Rapoo which I'm quite satisfied with, as a night time mouse.

Also, if you're working in tech office and you're using a Razer, you're running the risk of being silently judged and dismissed by anyone who's a peripherals geek :). I say this only half in jest- it's like the guy who turns up with an MX Blue clicky keyboard, but not as obnoxious.

      • +1

+1 for rapoo. Got wireless mouse for 12 bucks. Loving it

      • im a fan of logitech but this mouse is $100+ with 1500+ of very nice reviews.

I don't think this will be similar quality with free dell mouse lol

        • +3

I got the Logitech Master 3S for work and this Razer for personal use. Logitech is most certainly much higher quality, but for < $40 this Razer with its 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth connectivity options is definitely a decent budget gaming mouse. Despite its cheap plastic feel.

          • @mathemagician: which mouse are you comparing with?

I have more than 10 logitech mouse and I don't think this has worse bulid quality than cheap logitech mouses like G305.

        • The Dell mouse will feel similar, look plainer, and be more reliable.

Don't look at the price of a Razer product, they spend so much of their budget on advertising to gamers that you're paying for marketing campaigns. This $100 will feel cheap.

1500 nice reviews because teenage gamers are impressed by marketing messages and LEDs.

          • @rumblytangara: usually Razer products are not that bad.

their chair gaming gadgets laptop all good quality. for last few decades.

but if any company sold cheap shit mouse at $100 it can't get 4.5 stars with 1500 reviews. even it is Apple one.

            • +2

@javawoo: Gaming chairs are almost by definition overpriced, badly constructed pieces of short term crap. I didn't even know Razer made them. It would certainly be an embarrassment to see one in a home office though.

My work chair was built in 2011. I checked the sticker on it the other week. Besides being a bit dusty, it feels the same as when I first got it.

When gaming chairs typically last a decade, I'll start taking them seriously.

              • @rumblytangara: well all well known company products are overpriced lol

have you ever used free dell mouse that you can buy for $2 or $4? lol

                • +2

@javawoo: I have plenty of free dell mice kicking around. I'm in tech, we have boxes of them as spares for when people lose their mice.

I keep some at home for when I need a spare to set up a new machine- they are absolutely fine.

Not all well known products are overpriced (and I say this as the owner of three Herman Miller chairs). Sometimes you get what you pay for like with Aerons and Mirra chairs, which can come with support contracts (corporate) of you want, but are almost never necessary.

And sometimes well known products are overpriced because they concentrate on marketing over product quality. Razer is the prime example in peripherals. Another example would be Bose or Marshall for headphones.

                  • @rumblytangara: and saying it is similar to this mouse? lmao…

                    • @javawoo: I'd say they are similar- neither are premium products. Razer goes for cheap and flashy and unreliable. Dell goes for cheap and simple and reliable.

Neither are worthy of daily driver mice. But I'd trust the dell more.

Just look at the comments in this small, non tech thread about people having trouble the razer.

                      • @rumblytangara: i feel like you don't know nothing about gaming mouses. please stop bullshiting. what do you do exactly? u said u r in tech. what you saying implies you don't know anything

                        • @javawoo: Hey, at least I can type properly.

Not going to really take someone seriously if they haven't figured out basic English or keyboard usage yet.

                        • +1

@javawoo: Razer are so bad in my experience. I think they used to be good though. They've spent 20 years building brand rep and are now cashing in. I had the original diamondback 3G, you couldn't kill it with an axe. More recently I've had the new diamondback, deathadder and the mamba. They all broke within 12 months- crazy sensor issues, mushy click switches etc. My friend just bought what I think is another mamba- the scroll wheel is literally jammed from the factory, and it's a common issue on their forums. How can it be that the microsoft basic mouse or the $30 logitech mice last 5 + years but razor just falls apart? I think they are just cheap stuff dressed up.

                          • @naturaldecay: you may right but it's not comparable with bundle dell mouse

      • I have had a few of these mice & mine work with eneloops without issue… Just the typical occasional dropouts from the mouse…

        • +1

Fair enough. Salient comment on the dropouts though. I have never noticed a dropout on any of my Logitechs if they're working with the supplied dongles. Different story on Bluetooth though (not sure if the problem there was the mouse or the laptop, but I avoid Bluetooth for the most part).

All the comments on just this little OzBargain thread about how unreliable this Razer is has been a bit eye-opening. I knew they generally make shit, and that as a corporate entity they kinda suck, but even the responses in this thread have been further south of what I'd expected. This is one reason to generally avoid software from Razer:

          https://www.zdnet.com/finance/blockchain/razer-faces-backlas…

Still, for $35, not too bad if you can put up with dropouts and minimise software installs.

    • I had one of these, the scroll wheel starting squeaking about 6 months in… I don't like the quality compared to Logitech.

  • +1

Any good for gaming and drag clicking games like in mine craft?

    • +3

Cuts for 2s every now and then just like all the feedbacks say

      • +3

So they’re often defective? This would drive me nuts.

      • +2

Even after the firmware update? I hadnt heard that, most praise it after that.

        • +2

Mine wasn't fixed by the firmware update or anything else I could do. I read that happening to a few people. Great mouse in the hand but was unusable, cut my losses and got a G604.

  • -1

How does this compare with the MX Master?

    • +32

      This is $36.

      • +2

+1 to this comment. They are aimed at different audiences, even though they are both mice, its apples/oranges really.

    • -4

How does this compare with the MX Master?

      Is that a serious question?!

If MX Master is symphony orchestra, this one is the fat lady singing in the shower. This one is for people who "just want to hear a song".

    • +6

MX Masters are Logitech. Crazy reliable office mouse with good battery life (mine is starting to show end of life signs for battery after 7 years as my primary office mouse.)

Razer has the rep for least reliable products across all the big name peripheral makers. Worse than SteelSeries, Logitech, Roccat, Glorious, and any others I have missed. Cheap construction, crappy parts, lots and lots of advertising. Marketing aimed firmly at gamer noobs- eg their keyboards are full of colourful lights but also crappy software history, substandard switches.

Hard to go too far wrong at $35 but don't even think about a comparison. In any tech nerd forum not populated by teenagers, Razer is like the Harvey Norman of Ozbargain.

Cocokola's comparison isn't too far off.

    • +2

Anything Logitech is better quality. Anything!

  • +1

    Bought one as spare. Thanks

  • +3

Just a warning that the Razer software is absolute trash, and you need to create an online account. There are no alternatives for button assignment.

    • +2

Just use default allocations, $36 still better than basic mouse

    • Just click guest no need to make online account

  • +4

    Purchased another one… Thanks Op

I do hate the occasional drop outs from this mouse but I like the thumb rest & it fits my small hands perfectly…

I guess for me comfort is more important.

    • +1

It's such a comfortable mouse. But it's unusable for gaming

  • You last purchased this item on 21 Nov, 2022 @ $44.10, ok as a backup mouse - but my mx master mouse gen 1/3 feels more refine. for office use -

  • Bought. Thanks Op

  • No good for gaming, good price for an office mouse tho

    • +1

      how so?

      • I got heaps of drop outs with mine

    • Yes I use it for work too.

  • +2

I had both mx and this one and I actually like this one better. Apart from the shape make it more comfortable for me, it is also lighter - for some one on computer more than 10 hours a day, even 1 garm counts.

  • +2

Update the firmware to minimise dropouts.

I thought it was a great mouse and "why would you get anything more expensive?" but then I got a Logitech G Pro Wireless. No dropouts and super light. I ain't going back to AA batteries.

    But for $37, it's a great mouse.

  • +3

I have this one. Tried Eneloops and Aldi rechargeable batteries. After about a day the mouse treats them as dead, yet when I take them out they work fine in other devices.

    • +1

had the same issue here. These seem to have a minimum voltage that the eneloops don't seem to meet.

    • You need proper batteries. I use Energize Max atm, last a few months.

      • +1

Enerloops are proper batteries. Work fine in my Logitech G305s and M221s (I have half a dozen of these things). I expect a year or so of use on a single enerloop. Used daily by kids.

This is just poor design choice from Razer.

        • Eneloops and other rechargeables run at 1.2V while a standard alkaline AA runs at 1.5V.

For most devices its not a big deal but for these mice in particular they need that constant 1.5V supply to work effectively.

Not worth imo, put the money towards a better mouse.

          • +1

@Obkay: Alkalines start at 1.5 then drop to about 1.2 halfway through there total energy budget. Wheres a NiMH LSD cell stays at 1.2 pretty flat until the end of it's charge capacity.

If a mouse is so badly designed that it really needs to run above 1.2V to work at all, then it's just shit. Because plenty of other mice by other companies will run happily with Enerloops. My kids' mice have been running with the same Enerloops since Jan.

    • +1

I soley use Eneloops in mine and haven't had that issue. The battery level doesn't report correctly with recharables though, much like other appliances. But it does give a warning before they die so I can change them out.

I am running the latest firmware. Unsure if there has been a change in there which helps?

    • Factual!

    • I use eneloops in mine & I fortunately have not had this issue… my eneloops last ages in this mouse

  • +1

    Woot got one thanks !

  • What's the maximum polling rate on these?

    • 1000 Hz over dongle, 125Hz over bluetooth. Very noticeable difference.

  • ordered then cancelled after reading comments. Thanks Ozbargainers for posting your experience. I'd rather not have to buy batteries constantly if it doesn't already work properly with rechargeable batteries.

    • +1

Bought one of these 6 months ago. Changed my eneloop out of it once each three months. Glad I did buu it, best value wireless mouse I've ever had… Assuming it keeps working.

    • My eneloops last ages in this mouse… I have not had these issues… Just my experience

  • Would this work with a USB C adapter to my MacBook Pro?

    • +2

Yes, but it also has Bluetooth if you don't want to use the dongle.

    • +1

I use this one mouse for my Asus and Mac laptops. Use the dongle in Asus and BT for Mac easy.

  • Best mouse guys been using mine for over a year so much better then the crap one u get in the kit.

  • Showing as $67.90 for me

  • Price back up.

  • These aren't that great. Mine started to make creaking sounds on button clicks after a week of use.

  • -3

    is this the logitech g502??

    • No.

      • Looks identical to the g502 but for half the price and half the oomf

  • Great for casual gaming - but always keep a spare battery by your desk as it has gone out on me mid game before

  • +1

Thanks! just copped one for my office laptop.

  • Damn 68

  • +2

Was unimpressed with mine. It would drop out once per day and need batteries popped out and back in to reconnect. Just trash.

  • +2

Sounds like luck of the draw. Have used one at work for around 18 months (wanted wireless 1000 Hz). Using the dongle, battery lasts me about 6 months. Goes to and from work in my backpack.

    No issues.

  • Mine gets intermittent disconnects which take too long to reconnect. My wife's works fine. I wouldnt recommend due to unreliability.

Today bought a logi wireless g502 lightspeed at $134 from amazon if anyone is into that.

  • -1

Thanks very cheap. Got 3 for work - will keep the other 2 as backup lol

  • Great price

  • +1

I had 2 that failed. Luckily amazon return policy is good. they lasted less than 10 months.

    • i thought the return policy was only a few months after purchase. you were able to return it 9 months later?

      • I returned a Viper Ultimate via Amazon, if it's still under the warranty time they will let you, IIRC that's at least 12 months.

        • interesting, i didn't know that. good to know now.i had something break in 6 months but figured i couldn't return it anymore. it didn't have the return option available for my item.

  • Can we customise the button (with software) at home laptop, but will it keep the setting on my work laptop after without need to intall the software?
    (My work laptop is locked)

  • These are $44 currently!
