  • Nice price

  • Not the cheapest I've seen (DSE has 10% off all iPod a couple of weeks go)
but this is a good price.

Doesn't start till tomorrow (Thu) though

    • Isn't 10% off $199 = $179.1? Which makes this deal slightly cheaper?

  • Take it to office works for an additonal 5% off bringing the price down to $168.15. I think that is better than the DSE discounts.

    • I just checked Officeworks. They are now selling it at $177 as well.

  • the price for this ipod will be the same everywhere

just in case you didnt know Apple controls the price of the ipod range, that is part of there retail agreement where all stores willing to sell it, need to follow!!

    • Well I bet the ACCC might be interested in that claim. Got proof to back it up?

    • It's not the same everywhere, they can mark down prices..

Like someone said before, DSE had 10% all ipods.
I got my touch for that -10% then -5% staff discount and got it for $281

      Nevertheless, this is cheap :)

      • its the same retail price everywhere!!

thats why it took ages for retailers to sell Apple products,

coz Apple heavily inforce that they control the price.

this only relates to the RRP, the staff discount is another thing all together!!

        • Rubbish. It is illegal for a manufacturer/distributor to fix pricing at a retail level.

Have a read of this link and educate yourself a bit…

          • @elguapo: believe what you want mate…i wouldnt bother arguing about something unless i knew a lot about it!!

            • @Bargain-Basement: I am quoting fact and you are quoting hearsay. Quote your sources and I will stand corrected.

          • @elguapo: I think Apple has a few ways of selling them, one is through authorised resellers, or through agents acting for Apple. I believe Apple can do what they want if the shops are acting as its agent.

        • This is not true. iPods in general have very little margin in them, often in the 9~12% range. Whereas a typical mp3 player will have around 30% margin. I've worked retail for a few stores, and we never mark down iPods unless the bigwigs who make the catalogs say to. It's becuase theres so little profit in them so no one marks them down.

  • Went to Officeworks at lunchtime. Picked up an 8GB for the daughter for $168. Bargain.

    • Nice

  • @elguapo - was $168 the normal price, or was there a discount?

    • Officeworks price matched $177 and then beat it by 5%. I just took in a print out of the Big W ad.

  • Clive Peters catalogue out this week has 8G advertised for $149!!!! I took ad into Kmart as Clive Peters is a bit of a drive away for me and they rang up to confirm that CP had it in stock. They said sorry sold out but that it was a pricing error also and should have been $194 not $149!! Ha Ha!! Im tipping they havent sold out at all but just removed them from sale for the duration of the promo. If you can get a CP catalog and take it into someone who price mathces but doesnt bother to ring the mentioned store to check stock etc, then you will get a super bargain.

  • yeh it is a misprint the Clive peters online catalogue has correct the issue.

I tried going in to my local dick smith powerhouse seeing if they'd price match it … but they refused … apparently they also know it was infact a misprint.. gay

  • Big W at QV have heaps of stock in all colours so it seems they actually thought to stock up with this special. Unlike our mates at COTD.
