    What's the catch?

    • +13

      You of course!

    • +1

Catch the train, followed by a tram. 😉

    • +20

      What's the catch?

Well, there's the having to sit inside of a Chery. Instant no from me.

      • +4

And then there’s the having to actually shift it into gear and have to deal with driving it. Even more of a no

      • +4

You sayin no to poppin the cherry?

    • +9

The catch is you have to drive a Chery.

      • +1

Came here just to say this

    • +4

The catch is you got to look at that front grill and not get triggered

    • Have to tell lies in the survey after the test.

    • +1

You might end up buying an Omoda 5. There are so, so many better choices available.

  • +9

15 minute test drive, 1.5 hour survey

That's what I got last time I went for a test drive at VW. No gift card tho

    • +7

      What a stitch up

    • +7

      Plus the hard sell..

  • +7

By the time you even go for a test drive, the stock of gift cards will probably be exhausted

  • +6

Gotta pay me more than $100 to get into a Chery.

  • 'The Chery'…. yeah

  • +17

Gift card all redeemed. Just clarified with a WA dealer.

  • +1

    The reps hate these promos.

    • +2

i feel so sorry for them

  • +14

What advantage does this have over a train, which I can also afford?

    • +12

The train works most of the time

      • +5

        Not in Sydney.

    • +5

The train has a better ride quality.

    • +4

"Well Count Homer, shall we discuss the… No we shan't."

    • Easier to park a train

  • +4

I figured this must have been their EV, and would have been half tempted to give it a crack if so. It's not.

You'd also go a long way to find a more fugly front end on a motor car.

  • +6

The grill on this car reminds me of a rare skin disease, ewww

    • +3

Trypophobia Is a real thing. Some shots of this grille look like a filled hive when the lights reflect in each one of the holes

      • Yeh right like a lotus flower

  • +3

The avant-garde face of the OMODA 5 is a fine combination of gradient-shaped grid and diamonds forming a visual 3D effect, giving it a futuristic look that embodies the technology and style it brings.

    How about no.

  • +3

20mins drive in a Chery, 45mins of survey drama and half a day looking at weird people who are there only to grab $100 Gift card? Eh, No Thank you.

    • -1

  • +1

ill take anyones $100 giftcard if they don't want it

  • How far do you have to drive before its deemed sucessful?

  • +2

So the $100 is the Cherry on top?

  • Hello, can you tell me the advantages of this car, say over a train
    Which I can also afford

    • +5

      it's been done

      • +4

Oh whoops, sorry I didn't check all the previous posts…I apologise for wasting your time. Good night sir/madam.

  • So no one clicked the link yet? It can’t be opened at all!

  • +1

The promotion terms said you have to book via a seperate link(which doesn't work atm) to quality for the offer. If you just submitted your details on chery motor website, you might've just given them your details so they can spam you with ads.
Not to mention when you try to follow it up, they'll just say sorry no gift card for you since you didn't book through the website which doesn't work

    • +1

I can't sleep and have to make a comment. Isn't it separate instead of seperate? Don't tell me it's your phone auto correct function.

  • They are paying 100 for your info

    • No chance they'll pay you. The booking website doesn't even work.

      • +1

Ahh so it's just a marketing honeypot to get the brand out there.gotcha.

  • Why did Chery leave Australia?

    • +6

to get to the other side.

    • I know they didn't meet the safety standards to be sold in Victoria the first time they came to Australia.

  • +1

Booking website not even registered https://www.whois.com/whois/cherydealerpromotion.com.au

7 year unlimited km warranty (if car not used for commercial purposes), terms and conditions/ exclusions apply…
This vehicle has a CVT (constantly variable transmission) - a sometimes cantankerous technology depending on the manufacturer, and something to terrify the local mechanic.
Warranty doesn't include "clutch linings". Given the thing is a CVT, thus "clutch" operation is automatic, not operated by the driver, this is a potentially nasty escape clause for vehicle with potentially very nasty technology (CVT). If the CVT grenades due to "clutch linings" after a couple of years it could potentially be an economic write off.
Exclusions for brake pads and discs, batteries, wiper blades, lights etc etc are quite normal without scary aspects, as these are expected to require replacement at times and aren't likely to be devastatingly expensive….but clutch linings?
My take is that's like a car maker offering a comprehensive long warranty, but not including the engine computer or the engine main bearings.
    Warning doc smith….warning!
While meandering the net exploring the wunnerful world of chery, I was a bit confounded to see some data on the Chery Tiggo 4. I have no idea what it is, but was surprised to see fuel consumption of 7.5L/100 Km for MT (manual transmission) and 9.3L/100Km for CVT. I thought the benefit of CVT was efficiency and thus fuel economy, enabling normal engine running at a pretuned maximum efficiency rpm range. Clearly not the case for the Tiggo…. so sod all advantage over a conventional automatic vehicle, replete with a possible higher likelihood of failure and more devastating effect of failure.
    Hmmm….
Dunno if this link will get through, but Chery doesn't look so good in these ratings apparently

I only want to drive a Cherry 2000!

  • -1

hahahahaha I've "seen these professional drivers" half of them couldn't navigate a car park, let alone a skid pan.

Your best bet is to join your local car club and attend skid pad days. You'll learn more about controlling a car car during a slide in these skid pan than these "driving instructors" could ever hope of trying to teach you.

  • Website doesn't even work. Good luck with the car!

  • Got my gift card in the email today!

The test drive wasn't too bad, you get a decent car for $32K or $37K driveaway but some things did feel a bit cheap. If the car lasts during the 7-10 year period I reckon it would be a decent deal. However at this stage I'd rather pay that much for a used Forester or RAV4.

  • Did not put too much hope on it but gift card arrived……WOW
