Got one of these for 'free' by eating heaps of Nandos, it rules! Been using it multiple times per week and haven't bought Nandos since!

    • +4

      The irony!

    • how much 'nandos' is 2900 points

      • $29000 I'm guessing.

      • +4

        It's 1 point for $1 spent.

        So it'll be $2,900 for 2,900 points.

  • -2

    Still a hunge too expensive

    • +6

Maybe eat lots of Nando's and get it free.

      • +1

As a side benefit, you'll never need to go back to Nando's!

  • +1

Don't forget the 10% off BCF gift cards on the 7 Rewards app! Although it's technically 8.5% as there is a 1.5% CC surcharge.

I use this more than my main bbq. Once I got used to having the lid down to cook, it’s been the best bbq I’ve ever had. A bottle of gas lasts us a year using it once a week. Cook meat mostly on it for a family of 5.

    • +3

We use ours for a family of 4. Bought the half hot plate and it's been great. Perfect steak everytime.

Although if someone really isn't sure just look on Facebook marketplace as there are generally plenty at $100

3+ years on a single large swap n go bottle so far. Used 1x a week on average, 2/ 3 times per week in summer. Best bbq ever .

      • +2

Pretty decent. Didn't realise the bottle lasted that long

  • Is there a reason why these bloody things are so expensive vs another brand?

    • +1

Better heat retention. Better efficiency. Brand value.

Warranty is rock solid - you deal with them directly and they are pretty easy going.

I've also heard stories of Weber reps going out in the field to help people with repairs and replacements, also fixing up any other Weber stuff you got around at no cost. Good people to deal with.

    • +1

Mines 5 years old and still looks like it will go another 5. I don’t think the price is that bad though. If it died tomorrow I’d just go buy another one.
Seems to be all the after market parts available, so if anything does fail you can fix them.

      • +1

If it dies tomorrow weber will replace it for free as long as you have the serial number. Webber is guaranteed for life.

    • +1

The customer service from Weber is main reason I wouldn’t buy anything else.
Had an issue and ended up getting every single part expect the lid replaced about 2 years outside of warranty- basically a brand new setup.

    • because theyre amazing and more fun to cook on.

  • +1

Weber warranty is great. I broke my gas knob and ignition out of warranty and got a free replacement. I use a Baby Q for a family of 5 and it is solid must be at least 6-7 years old now.

My recommendation for add ons: Weber light, hotplate
    and stand.

Still using my Q200 (middle size one) 15 years on from when i first bought it. The gas element is starting to get a little bit blocked from bits of food over the years and paint on the hood is getting a little chalky from being in the sun, will have to pull it all down and clean/sandblast/paint and i'd expect it to go another 15.

    • Should be able to mostly burn it all off with the lid down and up

  • +2

FYI - this is the q1000. There is also the more premium q1200 (with a few extra features - higher lid, electric starter, lid thermometer) but does not go on sale as often as the q1000

    • +2

Electric starter may be your preference, but the other one doesn’t need batteries and starts first time every time anyway. Thermometer isn’t going to be accurate for cooking it’ll just tell you the temperature inside in one spot. You’re better off getting a thermometer for the meat specifically if you are needing info for rare medium etc.

Don’t know what the higher lid is for. This kid is already plenty. Might be a use case for it.

Thanks OP. Got the Q2000 which is also 25% off.

  • Does anyone know of a good cover for this?

    • You mean other than the Weber one?

      • No the Weber one, was looking for a decent cover for it.

    • I passed on the cover. It’ll just become a spiders house if I leave a cover on it

  • I bought my first ever Weber about 3 weeks ago. Been cooking my scotch fillet and sangas nearly every day on it. My induction cooktop is getting jealous.

Being able to cook both sides of a steak properly is unmatched. The taste. The smell. And honestly although flavoured wood would be great, I’m not going to fire up wood on a daily basis.

Best thing I’ve bought in ages.

    • +1

are you eating sangas and steaks everyday?

      • Mainly steaks. Scotch fillet. With a salad. And I make an avo and diced onion dip to keep some veggies in there.

        • -1

Gotta ease up on the red meats mate

          • @sator: Yep, eat all animals equally

    • ive got one but never really figured it out. is there much difference in using this vs a normal bbq with the lid down?

and at the heat needed to create a significant amount of indirect/convection heat, doesn it mean you need to constnatly turn the sausages and thus open the lid?

  • Had some leftover gift cards. Hard to decide between the colours. Ended up going black.

  • What’s the best stand to go with this?

    • Their own one

      • Looks like the Portable Cart is the only option then.
