    Should I HODL?

  • This one or 980 pro?

      This

This, as the KC3000 has speeds similar to the 990 Pro.

  • You're basically losing money if you don't buy this drive.

    Why?

Because of you don’t buy it, you’ll lose money.

      • Instant financial ruin.

Hmm.. With many experts' expectations of the ASP of NAND Flash declining more, and the regular price of this device is around $240, I would not rush to buy, but instead, wait a bit; we should see better prices soon.

But will the parts inside be the same?

  • Thanks op

  • Just cancelled my SN850x order i had on amazon 2 hours ago. KC3000 Good price. And really good SSD.

  • Ordered one, thanks OP!

  • Got this for 295 a few months back and that wasn't too bad of a deal. Everything's creeping down. Might have to get another if things creep down some more.

  • Sigh… I bought this exact SSD for $295 October last year because it was the cheapest top-tier 2TB NVMe I could get (I don't count the Crucial P5 Plus as top tier)… who would've seen these massive price drops coming?

I still have another M.2 slot available, but I'm waiting for PCIe 5.0 drives. Too bad it doesn't look like they will offer anywhere near the level of value we see with current PCIe 4.0 NVMe deals.

Does your motherboard or your spare M.2 slot support gen 5 drives? Otherwise it'll run on gen 4 or gen 3 speeds. Whatever the M.2 slot is able to support. Gen 5 has no difference in real world for normal users.

      • Of course it has a PCIe 5.0 m.2 slot, that's why I'm keeping it empty.
I will definitely be making use of the faster speeds.

  • Woh. We bought this in 4tb for $800 a month ago..

  • +3

The big 3 - 980 Pro, SN850X and KC3000 - are dropping in price over the next month because Gen 5 has arrived

    • Or it's dropping in price because the demand is not there from the market.

Gen 3 drives still cost an arm and a leg long after the release of gen 4.

Sort of like how the demand for GPUs is not the same as it was in 2021.

If they could compete AND turn a profit charging exorbitant prices, they would - which is exactly what's been happening with the GPU scene.

  • Do we ever see amazon price match these?

Whats a good heatsink to buy for this to mount onto the ps5?

    • Doesn't it have an inbuilt heatsink?

Been a day and a half and the order still says Processing and not shipped yet. Would have preferred the C&C from Centrecom

  • Has anyone had theirs shipped or delivered yet? I purchased at 1AM on the 16th but it's still in processing as of 3PM of the 18th.

    • Mines shipped!

      • Hmm, mine is still in processing. Starting to regret not just getting the centrecom deal.
