Clip 3 is an older model and uses micro USB. I have the Clip 4 and it's pretty great for the size.

Charge Essential is also an old model and micro USB. There are 2 different Essentials: Flip Essential, and Charge Essential. I have a Flip 4 and a Charge 5, Charge is the larger more powerful range, so I think this Essential is probably the better of the two. I honestly have nfi

Boombox 2 new one is coming out but looks about the same. This is a 6kg beast with 4" woofers and 24 hours playtime. These big ones, like the Xtreme and Partybox range are charged with AC adapters, not USB

I have a Partybox, but I can't remember which one. I will be getting the Boombox 2 because it fills the gap between my Charge 5 and Partybox.

I tried to make a separate post for Sony, but OzB wouldn't let me, so here it is:

I don't own any Sony BT speakers, but I have owned/own UE and JBL, so I can try to make comps

Sony XB13 Extra Bass Wireless Speaker SRSXB13B I think this would be like JBL Clip or UE Wonderboom

Sony X-Series Portable Wireless Speaker SRSXE200B - JBL Flip or UE Boom

Sony X-Series Portable Wireless Speaker SRSXG300B - JBL Charge or UE Megaboom

But there's also this Sony X-Series Portable Wireless Speaker SRSXE300B which looks like something in between previous 2

Sony XG500 Portable Wireless Speaker SRSXG500, and Sony XP500 Portable Party Speaker SRSXP500 - JBL Partybox or UE Ultraboom

Sony Compact Portable Party Speaker SRSXP700 - one of the bigger Partyboxes

Sony Powerful Wireless Party Speaker SRSXV900B - JBL PartyBox 1000

I'm gonna get the baby one, maybe the SRSXE300B, and the big boy.

Sony seriously needs to name their audio gear better. People remember Walkman, Trinitron, and Playstation; not a bunch of letters and numbers.

Different colours and other shit: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/audio/portable-audio/portable…

I've put way too much time into this post. 8% CR

Edit: Anyone, feel free to make this a separate post

    • Why did you mention 8% CR. CR is ineligible with code not listed on CR isn't?

      • It was 8% SB with a $50 cap and CLICKNOW was eligible, but has since expired. I forgot and got it wrong, I'll edit.

Edit: I can't edit because you replied

        • What? So you mean we could have used CR together with CLICKNOW?

          • @Lone star: SB, Shopback. It was a flash sale thing that ended at 9. It's now 2.25%

            • @rosebank: Damn. I didn't know about SB. I just looked in CR and thought that the code would be ineligible so I just bought directly from TGG..

              • +1

@Lone star: lol I missed out because I was too busy typing up this shit

  • I bought the Boombox 2. Wonder how it is compared to the Sony XG500.

    • The sony XG500 has slightly bigger square woofers and 30hr playtime, and flashy lights, and is also $436.

If I were to get a Sony, I'd get the SRSXP700 for not much more; it comes with 7" woofers and 25hr playtime, and not really portable at 16kg. But I already have a JBL partybox 310

The Boombox 2 and XG500 are under 6kg. I might get the Sony and give it a go

  • Hey OP. So which one did you end up buying?

    • Boombox2 becauase all my BT speakers are JBL. I also got another Charge 5 on eBay for $139 for stereo pair.

      What did you get?

    • Sony has the SRSXE300B open box on ebay for $149 with $10 off. I almost bought it but the reviews are shit. I'm just gonna stick with JBL

      • I just received Boombox 2 yesterday. Opened up today, but not sure why I dont have any sound. It says I have connection with the speaker. I can also control volume up and down from the speaker. But still no sound. Do you have to install a JBL app to make it work?

        • Nah, you just press the BT button and pair with your phone. I don't use the app yet, but will for stereo pairing

          • @rosebank: Hmmm.. I think there is something wrong with my speaker then. As I said when I press the volume buttons on the speaker I can see my phone volume bar goes up and down. I can also pause the YouTube video on my phone with the speaker button. But there's still no sound.

            • @Lone star: Yeah return it

              • @rosebank: I just rang TGG Wetherill Park. They told me just to bring it in. I will try out more today and if it doesn't work I'll return tomorrow.

By the way OP. Did you pickup your JBL from the store or did you get it posted to you?
