$100 off First Year Comprehensive Car Insurance + 14% Cashrewards Cashback @ Australia Post (Online Only)

630

I took this up last november during a similar previous deal and my comprehensive insurance was $349 (2014 mitsubishi Outlander).

that deal included $100 cashrewards cashback.

this deal includes 14% cash back - so $349 quote would now yield $49.35 in cash back. - not as good as the previous deal but not to be sneezed at.

Auspost car insurance is underwritten by QBE.

I haven't had to make a claim so can't comment on the service.

The deal will be good for some and not so good for others.

some people will get cheaper quotes else where.

Always check the T&C and PDS before you make a financial decision, there is no harm to do a quote first, as YMMV.

any way , It's a long running deal so that is good.

14% cashback Special Terms <—was originally 15% on CR website when first posted.
Cashback is only eligible on new car insurance policies.

Hopefully the speed is better than the post

  • Have always found this mob (AusPost) to be on the expensive end for me. Will give it another crack and get a new quote.

  • last time I got this few months ago my cashback was paid within a month!

  • never got it last time

Cashrewards is a hit and miss. They may deny your cashback and accuse you of clicking away from site, used ad blocker or used coupon not advertised etc..

I always use the phone app. Tracked everytime

      • +1

I always use the phone app. Tracks most of the time, and easy to submit a claim when it doesn't.

  • my cashback was not tracked. Had to submit a claim. Still waiting approval.

  • from last deal - cashback Approval date: 03/12/2022

    • So it only took 4 days to be approved? Thats interesting

  • They were the cheapest for me by fault for the first year, second year it went up over $300 so I left

Just did it. Really expensive for me.

    $4200…wow

  • +1

Extremely expensive, almost doubled what RACV charges me.

  • Can I still apply for it if I am currently using AU post car insurance?

    • get a quote and find out.

  • CR shows 14% cashback

    • the quote in the deal description is literally C&P'd from the cashrewards site

      • Still shows 14% on app, mobile site of CR

        • desktop shows 15% on CR site , clicking on the above cash back tab shows 15% for CR (0% for shop back)

          • @altomic: Yep I'm getting 14% on CR site. Do we know when this cashback rate will end?

          • @altomic: quite surprised with that

  • Does Australia Post cover modifications? Can't seem to find anything about modifications anywhere
eg. Exhaust / Intake / Turbo etc.

  • Weoow, super expensive for me. Standard car in metro melbourne - 1.2k with budget direct vs 2.1k with Auspost.

    • i did a quote with budget and it was almost 2.5 times of the Auspost quote. weird

      • I wonder what details you put in… Auspost didn't take much (e.g. where is car located, aftermarket, etc.)

  • $300 cheaper than Woolies insurance for me, not including cash back. Thanks!

    • Almost same $200 cheaper than woolie for me - thx OP

  • $35 more expensive per month.

  • Cheapest for me yet. Got quotes last night, settled on QBE (the underling insurer here). Tried through the AusPost insurance site, and the quote saved 30+%. More if buy now to save $100.

How can I confirm that the CashRewards is working? There's no indication from the site

  • I have both my cars insured through this. Had cash back from the first one waiting for the second one. Imo it's the best option out there. The insurer is qbe and the agreed market value of the car is much higher than others. Highly recommend

    • It’s more expensive than my current provider for the last 3 years I checked even with $100 discount.

  • This con deal keeps coming back. Australia Post is untrustworthy based on past few years experience.

    • For parcel delivery or for insurance? If it's underwritten by QBE, what's the evidence it would be a risk to go through AusPost?

  • About $300 more expensive for me in SA.

  • Almost $300 savings for me with CR on a 2019 cx5 compared to existing racv. Thankfully i'm still within the cooling off period..

  • 14% now :(

  • How did OP get his so cheap!? My car is an 05 impreza, worth less than his car and they want $490 for comprehensive. Even after the cashback it aint worth the hassle. I'm just going to stick with Aami at $430

    • +1

no idea. it was just cheaper so they got my money.

maybe driving 30+ years. no claims in > 10 years. low KM driving <15,000. mass produced "family wagon", on property parking, personal use only.

again , insurance quotes/premiums can vary wildly between insurers.

there has been anecdotal evidence in previous car insurance deals where people have put their next door neighbours address (but their own details and car) and obtained quotes $000s less.

      it's a crap shoot

  • Did anyone successfully took out a policy this time around? I am getting an error while cashrewards redirects to Australia Post website.

    "auspost-insurance.pxf.io sent an invalid response."
    ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

    • I'm getting Temporarily Unavailable at cashrewards.

  • +1

Looks like it’s no longer available

  • This one actually worked out cheaper for me than my previous provider, however I have opted for higher agreed value/higher excess, so may not suit everyone’s risk appetite and situation.
I applied through the last cashback offer through the app and it didn’t track automatically. Had to contact Cashrewards manually with all the details. It is now manually tracked with cashback pending. Hopefully as my screenshots show it was IN the app they will honour. Definitely one I would do through app though and take screenshots along the way.

  • So if I have car's rego against my business what shall I pick during picking insurance private use or business use. It will be used just for regular commuting ? Would anyone know.

    • I'm in the same boat. My company provides a car under a leasing arrangement. It's for private (non-business) use, but for registration, it has to be considered for business use.

However as it's legitimately for private use, I feel comfortable ticking that private use box. Maybe it's naive, but I consider that this would stand up in any dispute.

  • Anyone signed up via cashrewards got their tracking yet ?signed up on 16 May and still waiting

  • +1
  • Went with ShopBack's 11%.

Auspost gave me the lowest price compared to everyone else including AAMI with 20% discount. Almost 30% cheaper than my previous Budget Direct policy which was up for renewal. And with a lower excess. And that's without cashback taken into equation!

    Thanks op!

    • Did you use the app to get the insurance from shopback? The web link seems to be broken from past few days.

      • I clicked on "cashback" under "go to deal" button, then ShopBack app opened up, and then there was Australia Post page with "I agree and continue" button. The click tracked but the cashback not yet.

  • They ask for Demerit points? never knew it affects insurance

  • Noting a few people had some issues, worked well for me via cashrewards app, tracked 10 min later.
