been around this price for ~6 months, thought it'd be cheaper by now as 7000 series rolled out.

Would be a buy if SB/CR allowed vouchers again, but seems like that's in the past.

    • Nah 5800x3d is still great, even matches 7800x3d in some cases. Also has the upside of being on a cheaper platform.

      i was hoping this … :(

    Bought, thanks op!

  • At first I read this as 7800X3D and nearly had a heart attack.

This needs to drop at least another $100 before it's worth grabbing I think. I'm glad I didn't go for this yet. Decided to put that same money to a 6800 xt and seen much better frame increase.

Would most probably be discontinued before you see it dropping below $400AUD.

    • +1

Well yeah, if you were gpu bottlenecked it wouldn't have made a difference.

Before seeing the seller's name I saw the code SHTSAVE5 and pardon me but I read it like SHIT SAVES. So must be an average deal.

  • Mine is good but have some limitations.
This Gen is best kept cool with CO settings but bios' are mostly locked out of tuning options. Can enable in Windows, but takes a little tinkering.

    • Out of curiosity what were you trying to tune?

It’s still too expensive for last gen CPU, it’s ok if you already has a compatible m/b and ddr4 RAM. Otherwise, 7600 + ddr5 memory probably cheaper and better option for new build.

This thing has weirdly kept its price. I suppose it’s because it’s the best upgrade you can do on the AM4 socket?

    • This is one of their largest selling processor for a while. Maybe its changed now IDK.

  • +1

I’m sticking with my Ryzen 7 3700x until the 8000x3d releases, 5800x3d is showing it’s age and it’s expensive better invest the money in new platform

    • Totally deoends on your use case, I upgraded from 3700x running at 4.2 to 5600 running at 4.65 and I can tell that frequency and generational change made my system responsiveness 15% better.

  • +1

Thanks, I've grabbed this also. This will extend the life of my AM4 setup and boosts frame rates in my VR racing sims, not ready to dump a wad of cash on a new setup.

  • I did the windows method, but since I set it up my board has a new BIOS that allows CO in BIOS, many AM4 boards are getting these new BIOS's too from what I gather

  • Seeing as this motherboard is capped at this chip architecture, is it worth getting if I already have a 5800X?

    • Depends on your GPU and gaming resolution. For other use cases it has reduced clockspeed so no.

  • Im running AMD Ryzen 5 3600X … for gaming do I lash out on the 5800X3D?

    Mobo: ROG STRIX B350-F GAMING

    • Definitely worth it if your CPU is holding you back

    • 7600 + DDR5 memory is slightly faster on most benchmark, but you will need to buy 7600 + m/b + DDR5. 5800x3d is cheaper upgrade (even this cpu alone is still expensive) if you don't need to buy new m/b and DDR5. If you have decent GPU or thinking to get one (6800xt, 3080, 4070 and better), probably okay to upgrade. Otherwise, i will just wait a bit longer for bigger upgrade or cheaper price.

  • People in here make me laugh. The product is obviously aimed at those on the AM4 platform that want a great boost in performance. And the benchmarks don't like, the X3D puts in great work for what it is. If you have a older Ryzen, say a 3600, or whatever, it will be a worthy investment. You don't need to jump on AM5 right now. And please remember that not everyone here only does complete builds when buying things. Some of us buy part by part, and upgrade parts when needed. People that think you'll see the X3D for under $300 anytime soon are fooling themselves.

  • Okay, I did it. Upgrading my 3600 to 5800X3D. LESS GOOO.

    • +1

Less goooo, I'm going from 2600 to 5800x3d

      • Good man. What AM4 MOBO you running with the 2600? I'm running a X570 MEG Unify. I assume you are either B350/450? My new battle is deciding what GPU to pair with it. Have been holding out for years, my 2016 1080 is in need of replacing.

        • I'm currently using Asus b450f-gaming with 1660 super. I'll probably pair with a 4080 since I can get it at a decent price

    • Nice one! I’m sitting on the fence, but it’s a huge upgrade for me. Currently running 1700 on a B350 with a 1080ti. Thinking get this to remove my CPU bottleneck and then upgrade the 1080ti when it’s really struggling.

      • Hey mate, even my previous upgrade from a 1600 to 3600 increased my frames by 20-30 in War Thunder (what I play the most). First gen Ryzen was great at the time, but still had a fair ways to go for optimisation. If you grabbed this, your frames would improve heaps. I would go for it if I was you. Just remember to update your MOBO bios before slotting it in.

Anyone upgraded to this from 5600x is it much of a jump I running a 6900xt b550mb 32gb 3600 ram pcie 4 nvme
