Took a punt and it works. Takes a few minutes for it to go through and you need to register an account but just saved a fair bit. I was renewing my subscription.

  Did you need to create a new Bitdefender account and enter the key while using a USA VPN?
  
  I had to do that the last time I setup one of these offers for someone. It came up with a region error on the first attempt.

    No haha, just entered it into the my subscriptions page of bitdefender. I noticed their bitdefender VPN was region locked to Europe but this worked fine for me.

    I purchased 2x 2 years packs to extend my account by 4 years from the same site without issues. Didn't need to use my VPN.

  I used to use Kaspersky but abandoned my account and switched to Bitdefender.
  
  Any company operating under opressive regimes (China CCP, Russia Kremlin, etc.) is going to have to bend over backwards to provide data/services to the government whenever they demand.
