What variant of AmEx do you have? Wonder if this is just for high annual fee cards.
I got it on a Platinum Reserve that I barely use. (This card comes free with a Platinum charge card.)
I also got this on my platinum reserve that I hardly ever use - it’s purely for the bonus travel credit!

There are so many good offers with Amex, but always targeted. In the last 4 years I’ve been offered nothing but garbage, whilst seeing others talking about offer after offer that would be great to get. I’ve literally used one offer in 4 years.
The Amex offers are certainly not what I would consider a benefit of having the card.
I got this magical promo as well. I’ve just got back from 3 weeks overseas and figured they were trying to get me spending again. Glorious promo… wonder how many people got it
