Some comments on previous PopCultcha posts would lead me to believe that you need to have an account to use the coupon code.
There shipping is free once you are at $100+, but $9.99 otherwise. However, when I added an item that was $109 and used the coupon code to bring it down under $100, I still received free shipping.
Referee gets $5 off your first order of $100 or more. Referrer gets $5 off next order.

I've bought plenty of times before (as recently as last week) and the code worked for me.
I’m not a new customer and the code was working for me but I couldn’t stack it with a $25 pennies reward code I had (I’m greedy like that), so I cancelled the 10BIGFOOT code and replace it with the $25 reward. And like the OP I too purchased an item over $100 and with my reward it came to $84 and I still received free shipping because the initial order before the discount was over the $100 limit.
