This Ventus model has a couple of uncooled (not heatsinked) VRMs according to discussion here

    • +1

      Its the 3x not 2x

    • +2

Is it a really bad thing? Like 60 bucks cheaper then asus card?

      • Shrug. Not really sure. VRM's are supposed to be able to handle very high temperatures, as high as 120 degrees celsius. My old Vega 64 card also had super hot VRM's that exceeded 105 degrees C all the time (but I sold the card after 2 years of usage)

      • Where's the $900 asus??

    • +1

      hey thats not cool, MSI

      • Very uncool.ed

    • +6

Lol that one was a lottery, I see the majority getting order cancelled while very few actually delivered

        • +1

Well I'm not the one downvote you actually

    • +5

Many of those sales weren't honoured though. Lots of cancelled deals.
Unfair to neg this one because of a freak pricing error.

    • Not sure I'd expect it to hit that price again - there's a good chance it was a mistaken Amazon listing.

    • +3

Price error with cancelled orders doesn't make a deal.

    • +3

I swear every time there is a price error every future related deal it is referenced as gospel as if everyone got the deal.

  • +2

This might stack with their FTCVMRH5 code for an extra ~$27 off. It sounds like they are stacking from the other deals, but I haven't ordered anything to confirm.

    • +4

It stacks. I've updated the deal title.

  • +1

do you get diablo 4 with this?

  • Great Deal! I got the $848 Computer Alliance deal yesterday for the same card and thought that was good!
Mine got delivered this morning and is already in my system :) but happy for those who can save even more $$

    • Not as happy when I bought a Gigabyte at $857 just two hours before this deal..

      • i also bought the gigabyte at $857, but $20 cashback which brings it down to $837.
This one has 2 fans, so I guess 1 more fan is worth $26.

        • Cashback? Can you show me how to get it? I'll feel much better with this

          • +2

@goliath: it is just SHOPBACK cash reward. at the moment it is still on.
Not to mention, the Gigabyte card has better cooling system and the MSI Ventus has a problem with the heatsink/cooling.
I reckon paying extra worth it, mate.

            • @inusure: The Shopback special bonus 10% (capped at $20) cashback appears to have ended at 3pm yesterday

              • @AussieDeals: Today we have 4% shopback?
Again, i was talking about the fact i got the Gigabyte card for $832 after cashback.

                • @inusure: Your 2nd comment (in reply to Goliath who was asking what the $20 cashback was from) appeared to imply that the $20 cashback was still on at shopback.

At the moment the cashback is 'up to 4%' with computer components only seeming to attract a 0.5% cashback.

      • You got the better card

    • Happy with it?

      • +2

Yeh, haven't really gamed too much with it today yet, but huge improvement for Lightroom AI processing and masking so far. Coming from a gtx950.. so basically anything would have been an improvement lol

  • +8

Did I need a video card? No… but now I have one on the way to replace my 2060 super. And I was planning on buying D4 too anyway so win! Cheers OP.

    • +1

nooooo don't support the greedy grinch

      • talking like AMD is Santa, go back to reddit

        • Get off Ozbargain, Jensen.

          • -1

@SolitaryMan: yeah because not worshipping AMD means the other way around obviously

            Its not a sports team

        • -1

what now? who how? didn't quite get that over the fps (and VRAM. and memory bandwidth) /$ spent I'm getting here

  • Buy Buy Buy….or wait for a Ti?

    • +3

the VRM has issues on this one

  • +3

What makes this a bargain? It seems this is actually the most overpriced 192 bit gpu of all time?

    • +4

Pretty great 1440p card. Needs to be $650 though.

      • +1

Great core but it's memory bandwidth would suggest 1080p. Unless that's what nvidia are printing on the box now.

The concept with higher resolutions is higher bandwidth as the data transfer required at those resolutions is a greater volume

      • -3

It sold for it's true price of that before, but nobody wants to hear about it.

        • +1

Not sure a deal where a bunch of orders were cancelled really counts.

          • -4

@d3ft: People received them if you go to last page. Just had to be quick…

            • @buffalo bill:

People received them if you go to last page. Just had to be quick…

Nothing to do with being quick. There’s someone on there who ordered it ~10 mins after I did but they received it and mine was cancelled. Just seemed to be pot luck.

          • +2

@d3ft: It's more a 4060ti given it's memory limitations. Nvidia did the same thing with 4070ti and tried to pass it off as a 4080 12GB.

If it was 256 bit GDDR6X then it would be a successor of 1070/2070/3070 etc (all 256 bit bus). But it's 192 bit like it's 4070ti counterpart. Engineered for high refresh 1080p

            • @Jimmy77: It's still a roughly 30% uptick on previous gen 70 card so is a decent successor. There is more to performance than just the bus size

              • -1

@OzViper: Yeah like actual performance, where it outperforms cards with higher bus size

              • @OzViper: You're talking about the core. Read my comment again re the memory architecture.

It's not a decent successor due to the memory architecture. 60 series spec and not suited for high resolutions/massive texture packs/rtx etc. A high core with low bus is what you'd build to handle 1080p 240hz.

For example the 4070ti is the same performance as the 3080, provde the memory isn't bottlenecked. ie you're not driving a truck down a bicycle lane.

                • -1

@Jimmy77: No it isn't, the RTX 4070 is similar to the 3080.

The 4070 TI is as fast as a 3090 TI

                  • @CoolColJ: We are talking about memory bandwidth not core performance. There's more to a gpu than the core

  • I wonder if this card is similar to the x3 version, power usage at idle/multi-monitor usage is super high compared to reference 4070:

    https://www.techpowerup.com/review/msi-geforce-rtx-4070-vent…

  • Thanks op! bought one!

  • Anyone tried plugging this into an alien ware R10?

  • is this basically almost the same price as the UK deal if you minus the d4 savings?

    • +1

About $58.3 more expensive if you value D4 at the full RRP on PC of $109.95 (it can be had for $70.94 on PS5 or XSX in the current sale)

  • +1

dang it, I pulled the trigger at $888 last week.
Anyway, it's in my system now, was trying out BF2042 @ 1440p, getting average 75fps on mostly High settings with RT + DLSS3.
On Overwatch, on Epic settings with everything maxed, it's at 155fps (auto sync with monitor refresh, VSync off)
Very happy so far, upgraded from 3060Ti, and registered at MSI website for Diablo4

  • +1

GPUs better value than this according to my calculations
    A 6950XT at 946.40 or less
    A 6800 XT at 788.67 or less
    a theoretical 7700XT at 923.87 or less (doesn't exist)
7900 XT at $1059.07 or less
7900 XTX at $1273.13 or less

    Nvidia side
    A 4080 at $1228.07 or less
    A 4090 at $1599.87 or less
    A 4070ti at 980.20 or less

    • +1

Those first two AMD options are possibilities to reach those prices.. the rest, I think would be a long time away (but would love a 4090 for $1599!)

    • -2

LOL 4090 has 2x the Vram, and 2x performance, and higher bandwidth at higher resolutions, I'd say it's worth more than 2x the price

Plus the model is a budget model with 2 fans, that runs at higher temps and louder noise

      • Say it with me now, V-A-L-U-E. Cost, per frame, got it?

  • +1

IMO this is the better model to get - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/334831025183

$866 with the same voucher codes and deal

better cooler and 3 fans - quieter and lower temps

    https://www.techpowerup.com/review/msi-geforce-rtx-4070-vent…

    • is there any comparisons between the 2x and 3x around? i cant seem to find any

      • Just look at the other 2 fan designs in comparison, they all run warmer and louder than the 3 fan models
        You can't beat physics

  • took your advice

  • +4

PSA: MSI Registration requires a CHK number which is at the back of your graphics card. No where else in the box there is a mention of this CHK thats required to register your card and redeem the game. Such a pain, I now have to disassemble my PC to access that number. So please take a photo of the serial number on the card before installation.

    • how long did it take to get the code

      • +1

Once you register. Got to chat support and ask for an update. They will review application on the spot.

Would also still recommend waiting a few day for natural progression and to not overload chat queue. Just hint for those whom need to redeem asap for upgrade before launch etc.

    • Is there really no sticker with this number on the box? That's insane.

    • I can't find Futu_online when I registered this product. Is shopping express okay?

      • Just type it in manually under other
