Can we also save $1000 using the code ASUS1000?

  • +4

Hey Rep, ebay has a current sale which is fairly solidly beating these prices. Just an FYI.

    • Thanks for letting me know! Would you mind sharing the link? We will try to match the price :D

      • +1

Oh sorry rep, I read this as TUF not ROG!

Probably still a hard sell, but I think you are ahead by $50 or so haha.

  • +1

Is it really worth paying extra $349 just to get a top-tier ASUS AIB model over a more pedestrian one like a Gigabyte OC? $349 is like the price of a half decent motherboard.

    • +5

No, if you care only about raw performance (difference is none/negligible). If you like something specifically from Asus one like aesthetic, brand reputation and warranty (LOL) and other trivia stuff then could be.
      Some tech specs differences:
GPU length: 342 vs 357 mm (Asus one may not fit in some cases)
Speed: 2535 vs 2655 Mhz (final performance may not different much)
Power consumption: 320W vs 360W (save some penny to electricity bill)
Output: Asus has an extra HDMI out for total 5 outputs compare to 4 from Gigabyte. Max screen support still 4 for both

    • +2

imo, no. but also, people buying 4090 tend not to overlap with those worrying about $350 or so…

      • -1

350 buy you 4TB fast storage for games.

    • -3

Not worth $350 no, but then again if you' buy a Gigabyte you want your head examined.

      here's why : https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/sj65nn/is_gigabyt…

    • Only if you care about noise output and overclocking. These will have better power circuitry and better coolers so they'll be (sometimes significantly) quieter and cooler than a cheaper card, and they should OC further because of the extra headroom this affords.

  • +11

These are not the bargains we are looking for. These seem still too high priced!

    Advise everyone to Hodl

    • -1

Please don't bring back that hodl BS….. seriously got sick of seeing it on every gpu ad during lockdown.
However you are right though. Prices could be a bit cheaper.

  • +24

4080 was just under $1500 2 days ago - this is not a deal

    • +1

4090 can be purchased for $2600 too. In fact, 2k and 3k for a card is not a deal.

    • yeah feel like my 3080 strix really doesnt deserve the strix tag. the strix line up is so overpriced nowadays…..

  • Can this do AI?

    • +2

Renting gpu servers will be cheaper unless you have 100% utilisation 24/7.

      • You probably need to run 24/7 only for 3-6 months to justify the purchase of your own GPU vs renting the server.

    • +2

When you ask a question like 'can this do AI?' what exactly do you mean? In what context are you 'doing AI' with a single consumer grade GPU in your garage?

  • +2

drastically cheaper prices are available for very comparable cards if you have ebay plus, folks: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/175492036633

    • +1

Can I ask for your advice? I have an RTX 3080 from HP, let's say I can sell it for $6-700, should I pay $1200 to get 4070 Ti or $1600 for 4080? My CPU is i7 10700K, and I'm very happy with it so not looking to upgrade yet. I play @4k only. Thanks.

      • the 4070 ti is quite a bit stronger in 4k than the 3080 in most (but not all) games, but i don't know if it's $500+ better. the 4080 is even better, but imo not worth the extra $ at this point if you don't need the extra features. if you are happy with your performance maybe sit out this generation. otherwise, the 4090 has killer performance but it, of course, commands a very steep price.

        • Sorry I meant I'm happy with my CPU, so only looking to upgrade GPU. 4090 might be too much for 10700K? Should I get the 4090 gigabyte from someone off Facebook for $2400 brand new or it's still too high?

          • @hattori9x: that's a competitive price for a 4090 in this market; new ones tend to hover around ~$2.6k and you can only find deals like that with ebay plus. the 10700k may be getting a little long in the tooth for high-end gaming compared to what's out there these days but it shouldn't be too bad at 4k.

  • +3

After the pre-build fiasco, this will surely help /s

  • Any word on when ASUS ProArt 4080 is coming?

  • +2

You're asking for $3000 for a GPU on OzBargain??
    Have you no shame!
GALAX SG (1-Click OC) can be had for $2600, and that's it's normal price

    • Different quality

      • +10

So true, Asus is rubbish these days.

      • strix really doesnt worth the name/quality anymore, unless you are into the look.

  • +3

lol what the hell is this post, do they think it's 2022 still?

    • +3

More like 2021…2022 was bit more reasonable.

  • Decent price for the strix. Paid similar for the TUF not too long ago :/

  • Other parts aren't identical but for this sort of price I'd rather a 4070 with 12400F rather than a 3070Ti

  • +3

Feel sorry for the Rep, I haven't seen any cheaper ROG cards so gets my +1 but ozbargainers aren't gonna wrap there heads around different brands and different tiers costing different prices.

  • +1

    Lol at ROG
But I suppose you pay for the design

  • +2

So please tell me this gen ROG is not just purely brand tax? They even share the same pcb design as TUF just two more phrase wtf?

    • +2

      purely brand tax?

      just two more phrase

Kinda answered your own question there…

      • If they're really using the same PCB, just populating 2 extra phases only add ~$10, probably less at their scale. So ~$10 BOM, ~$290 ROG tax.

  • Might be cheapest for this version

  • Is it worth waiting for the 5000 series?

    • +2

5000 will be even more expense cause nvidia is making bank on ai

      • +2

Yeah they're making fat stacks with the AI bubble and their share pricing is sky rocketing so they're not going be doing gaming consumers any pricing favors anytime.

  • +3

    A ROG, sure.
But a ripoff by OzB standards with another 4080 at 1499 just a couple days ago
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/776847

  • +2

Not gonna neg cause technically it’s a cheaper price for the ROG version. But considering latest Asus drama, combined with the fact those model nets you no real world benefit (and actually reviews worse than some other cards in various areas) it’s a hard pass at $2000 when you can pick up alternatives from EBay right now for $1600 (which lets be real are still overpriced).

  • +3

doesn't really seem like an awesome deal because I don't think you get much additional value from the ROG boards and that costs ~30% more than a recent 4080 deal

  • -7

If anyone of my tenants has a 4080/4090 I'd be thinking rent is too low.

    • +7

I don't know about that. With rent being $1k/mo+ in some places, two weeks of rent on something you buy every 3 years seems pretty damn reasonable…

  • Any good price on AM5 Motherboards? Thanks

  • Beware asus gpus have bad coil whine.

    • Is that on all of their cards, or only a certain card? Or a card you got? Pretty general grouping of a comment.

  • -1

    gtfo this aint no bargain!

    • +1

Why the harsh language?? Settle down bud lol

      • +1

        sorry, friday evening

  • bargain??? you are funny
