It’s on sale, through a $20 coupon applied at checkout (make sure you tick the box), when I bought it the grand total was US$105.89, now it’ll be US$100.39, so even better for you.

This unit is easy to setup, integrates into home assistant like a snap, it also has a wireless chime (US plug but 230v just use a cheap adapter) as well so it’s incredibly resilient and will work right out of the box as a basic doorbell too without any internet setup.
Most importantly no monthly subscriptions leeching money like ring etc.

Also, I have it working in HomeKit via home bridge and it’s fantastic- works as expected with video and notification.

Remember: Pay by Bankwest master card or etc to get the best rate and avoid fees.

  • Note that the chime will have a US plug, but will work on 230V.

    • Thanks, yes it does (cheapie adapter works)

Or jus bend the 2 pins like i always do

        • +1

Wow I thought I was the only one who did that.

          • @Wiadro: How??

              • @jamestownfx: But won't part of the plug stick out where u bent it?

                • +1

@stalker878: Maybe 1 or 2mm sticks out, but not enough to be an issue.

                • @stalker878: The trick is to do as much as possible of the 'bend' as a twist in the plastic housing.

Basically just twist from the base of the pin. Typically you get some plastic deforming, and some twist in the metal where it passes through the plastic. The part of the pin sticking out is then still flat.

If particularly thin plastic has been used then occasionally get too much plastic deformation and a bit of super glue where the pin passes through the plastic stops any movement.

Depending on the plastic, a bit of heat can help. The bush electrician way is using a lighter on the metal pin before twisting, but a heat gun is easier to avoid overdoing it. With some plastics you can get a very seamless twist.

Done. Reported to chairman dan's secret electrical law enforcement police. Pack your bags son. We are goin away

        • Huh? isn't US 110v and Aus 240v? Won't that cause issues?

          • +2

@wombat81: Most electronics these days use switchmode power supplies that can run on anything from 100V to 240V.

  • Keen to get this, but I'd rather have the Aussie plug…would be hazard sticking out of the wall with an adapter for where I'd put it.

The Aussie store never seem to have it in stock!

    • True but you may move on to a point you don’t need the adapter/chime if you integrate it with Alexa, Google or Apple hole hubs/pods.

The chime is convenient because it’s easy, but now that I’ve got it setup with HomePods may no longer need it

Maybe put slicky tape at those sticking out?

This is a good deal. I recently bought this from Reolink Australia directly and was delivered in 3 days for $170 after the new user discount coupon. Unless the $15 is really important, you can save yourself hassle down the track and also get local warranty and local plug. But then Amazon is good with warranty as well. Thought I might put this out there for those who would want to buy locally.

    • +4

Agreed - much better to get the Australian version and avoid any issues with power plugs, warranty etc.

    • +1

Reolink has terrible warranty and no local agent. They will force you to pay for international shipping both ways, and they don't care about Australian consumer law.

They will also force you to pay the difference between your model and new models if your product needs replacement and isn't made anymore either. Reolink is an all round terrible company for warranty.

Purchasing through Amazon is the much better option. Let them deal with Reolink.

Currently $140.39 with PWE22 on ebay

Can't post it as a deal cause the seller is banned form ozb.

    • +1

I had an RMA with this seller and they were not easy to deal with. I would advise to stick with official Reolink channels, you're more likely to get a satisfactory outcome.

  • Actually, ignore my comment. It is not in stock at Reolink Australia. But if you leave your email there, it does notify you when it is in stock.

    • +1

My email has been there for months. That notification thing doesn't work

      • Very strange. I received a notification a couple of weeks ago. Maybe you might wan to try another email to add redundancy.

      • Agree, it does nothing. Ozbargain notification works at least.

  • So I need to get Google home assistant or not needed?

What else is needed for these to work?

Already have lots of Amazon devices like dots and show :(

    • +1

It’ll work by itself with the included chime, and also with ReoLink app.
However If you use home assistant you can create an alexa/echo service. It may require a bit of fiddling but there are good guides

      • Thanks, hope you're keeping up with the commodore.

  • Anyone have this? How good and responsive is it compared with argus security cam? I find the security cam not responsive enough and often miss recordings etc.

    • I find no issues, never have connectivity issues opening a stream

  • +2

Can this door bell record to a Reolink NVR? I've already got one with 4 x cameras, wondering if you can plug in the POE directly in to the NVR?

    EDIT: Looks like it can!

    • +2

It’s RTSP, since frigate will work I’m certain reolink will.
It’s a first class camera disguised as a doorbell

    • I had my Reolink NVR set to auto update. When I recently installed this POE doorbell, the NVR did not add it like a doorbell. Certain features were missing, like light control at night time.
Reading online, I eventually discovered that there was an update file on the Reolink website. Installing it manually fixed the issue and the POE doorbell works great now with my NVR.
This was a little time consuming to figure out, as it was not clear what features were missing, though it always felt like it was not quite right.

      • Were you able to plug it directly into one of the camera POE ports, or did you have to plug it into your switch and ‘point’ it to the NVRs IP?

        • +1

You can plug in directly to the NVR or via a POE switch.
I have tried both. All my cameras and doorbell currently plug into a Juniper POE switch.

  • Does this work well with HA and frigate?

    • Yes I have this exact setup, add the reolink integration and you get camera and binary sensor for visitor. (Thus HomeKit)
I’ve got the RTSP stream plugged into frigate too, since it’s reolink, it’s a camera disguised as a doorbell which means it handles continuous streaming fantastically.

      • I can also confirm that this works with both Home Assistant as well as Frigate.

      • Thanks team. Ordered. Has to be the cheapest Poe doorbell I've seen.

    • I have it working well. For it to work with HA you need to expose HA using http for the button to work. Https does not work.

    • Working for me with Frigate a HA. 2 way talk should be supported in the next Frigate version that has the latest go2rtc

    • Yes, frigate object detection is way more reliable than reolinks default person detection.

  • "Integrated with home assistant in a snap" might be true. Fully functioning without a lot of effort it is not.

    • Bought 2 for $266 5% off

    • This is true, however some may feel more comfortable buying from Amazon even US, considering their customer support when things go wrong.
Do not have any experience with that seller and others have attested that ReoLink’s AU warranty support is basically non existent

    • Is this AU or US plug on the chime?

  • Isn't it risky to have POE as a doorbell? someone can get access to your home network by just removing the doorbell and hooking device to the network cable?

    • +1

Yes you need to set up your VLANS / device isolation correctly otherwise they can

      • +1

Seems like not for the average person to know, I wonder if the instructions on install also guides a normal person how to secure this POE network device.

        • I put my cameras on a VLAN.

    • +1

It's more secure than a wireless or battery powered device.

      • How so? Even if the wireless network password could be extracted, the wireless network should be on its on VLAN, just like if using POE.

        • The point of a camera is to be available 24/7 especially when there’s an incident. Wireless transmissions can easily be disrupted. Just Google wireless jammer. This obviously has no impact on a hardwired camera.

          • @theangryman: Sure, but that's a separate consideration to the network security issue raised by kei.

    • You afraid someone is going to connect their laptop to the Poe on your porch to steal your Linux isos lol.

  • Can this be connected to a cheapie tablet so that it works like a video intercom?

    • +1

      Short answer yes but DIY.
It’s 2 way you may need a home assistant or use the ReoLink app

  • Trying to find an answer but have had no luck so far. If I don't want to hook this up to an NVR I can buy the wifi version and still access it via the app? But can I power it via POE with an injector or is POE only available on the POE model?

    Thanks guys

    • I’m no sure if passive injectors work.
NVR is optional and it takes an SD card.

If you want Poe buy the poe otherwise use WIFI/DC

You can also use motion eye or frigate software NVR for free.

    • Yes you can access via the app.

The wifi versions POE is only for data transmission(wifi not used) and still needs power through 12/24v cable.

      • do you receive alerts in the morning if your phone was turned off overnight?

  • I don't see the coupon, maybe its finished?
