  • Is it worth it to get the Gen5 over the 11?

I just upgraded after my V11 kicked the bucket. The list covers the upgrades really well, for me the integrated crevice too is the biggest unexpected game changer. Used to be annoying to swap it over so I wouldn't bother with those stubborn corner spots or quick clean of skirting board, now it is so much nice I didn't realise how annoying the old way was until now.
Button vs trigger also a huge win, despite being heavier it's less fatiguing

Shamelessly copied the format from Dowey's deal.

But with TGG deal, you got $60 store credit and $50 shopback cashback 👍

    • What do you mean by $60 store credit? I purchased from that TGG deal couple weeks back, but there was no store credit.

Wonder why Gen5 price dropping so soon? New stick coming out?

    • +1

Seems the likely scenario, although then another year to get a good price on new model. Stoked with my Gen5 from the $921 deal the other week.

    • +5

Demand is dropping across the board due to rising interest rates are draining cash reserves people have and their disposable income otherwise would have been put into paying high prices for vacuums or whatever other luxury item.

        When is car's turn!!!
Lol. People still taking loams to buy new cars. Eg. Rav4.

        • -1

Rav4 holds it value so stupidly well its probably the best new car to buy

  • +1

Is the Omni Glide worth getting? Also on sale at $394

    • Imo it’s the worst product Dyson makes, much better to buy a V7 advanced or V8 if you can get around that price

    • +1

We have one and my wife loves using it. It’s a one trick pony but it does what it does very well. The dust container is very small however, and it can’t be your only vacuum.

  • Still struggling to decide between v11 and v10 Absolute+ with the fluffy cleaner. Any suggestion?

    • I was wondering this for a long time as well. I have a V10 without a fluffy cleaner, and was concerned about scratches in my house (which only has wooden floorboards). I'd say that I haven't noticed any scratching, but I do have old floorboards with plenty of scratches already. Answer probably depends on how much you care/what your floor is made of. Fluffy cleaner as an extra kills the deal (costs something like $150). My opinion would be to buy the Gen5Detect :D

    • +1

If u need the fluffy cleaner then u already know the answer. go 10 absolute!

  • Is it worth getting it over the Shark Stratos?

    • Shark every time!

  • Just bought the v8 absolute. Super impressed compared to our old dc59. But at this price, maybe v11 is better value, I don't know. It's hard to go past the v8 absolute. Fluffy head is great and it weights less, so if you don't need the extra battery life…

Edit: I guess the 10% wicked Wednesday excludes Dyson?

We bought a V7 two and a half years ago. The battery is only lasting about 10 seconds now. A bit disappointing.

    • +2

Just buy 3rd party batteries costing u around 20-40.00 and these batteries has larger capacity and goes forever
      .

I did that with my 10 years old and 6 year old stick vacuum

      • What brand did you get? We have an old V7 so looking to replace the battery as well. TIA!

        • Just go look in Amazon AU or ebay

Plenty, they are all generic 3rd party brands.
Unless u really want to spent $$ for a dyson battery which is much lower in capacity.

          • @ttt888: But are they really at the capacity they say they are or is it just marketing gimmick as online often the capacity is not true some times unless it's a reliable seller

            • @Carbon Door: It's tripled the run time of my DC59 original battery.

              Anyway u won't loose much 20-30…

    • Sounds faulty. My V6 goes 90% battery of day I bought 4 years ago.

    • +2

Contact dyson, I've heard others with the same issue on the v7 just get sent replacement batteries even out of warranty

      • Ok. Will do. Thanks.

    • Do you have a Makita, Ryobi, etc 18v power tools with batteries?
I bought this for my Makita batteries.
      https://www.amazon.com.au/Adapter-Lithium-ion-Compatible-Abs…

The runtime matches the official dyson exactly the same (per Ah).

A mate bought the Ryobi equivalent and apparently it works great as well.

  • We just bought the V11 From good guys on Saturday for $786anyone know if there an option to get cash back?

    • Wouldn’t hurt to call them if you don’t have price protection on your credit card.

I’ve actually managed to get a post sale discount from TGG before because of a price drop a few days after my purchase

    • You can get refunded the difference for up to 14 days after purchase.

  • Just bought the V11 - I recall reading a longevity problem with the trigger, and an aftermarket solution. Is that still available?

    • +1

Yep, our V11 trigger carked it after 3 or so years.
I 3D printed a new one, but you can buy them online for 10 bucks. Was annoying to pull apart and replace, but there is definitely a design flaw in that trigger, unless the design has been changed since we bought ours.

      • Something like this?
        https://www.catch.com.au/product/strong-trigger-power-switch…

I’m still using my DC59 of 8 year (still going strong after battery and dustbin replacements). Now eagerly anticipating the leap in power to the V11.

        • +1

That's it exactly. Other than that, the vacuum is awesome. Can't complain about any other issues with it though.

  • I got hardfloor throughout the house, tile and timber, with lots of hair, dog and human, is the fluffy head worth it?
Doe all the hair/dirt get stuck on the fluffy head? Then having to clean or untangle them off the soft roller?

    • I've been using mine for about 5 weeks now and love it. No tangles at all with any dog or human hair. There's nothing really for it to get tangled on like the bristle brushes. It's really easy to take apart too, so if there were it wouldn't be a problem. I liked mine so much I bought the laser one off the Gen5 direct from Dyson ($200) and it works fine on mine. Sold the original one my V8 came with. Sounds silly but the light makes it so much easier to see the dirt in the hallways and the darker rooms that don't get direct sun light. But I didn't want to pay the extra for all the bells and whistles the Gen5 has. Mind you if I had the option of getting it for $920 like a few weeks ago things would have been different.

  • Why is the V8 more expensive than both the V10 and v11?
