    Time for some WM thoughts:

    • If you are looking for TCN GIFT gift cards, please be aware there may still be some TCN GIFT gift cards at Woolworths that have been incorrectly branded. A number of people last year found out the hard way that some TCN TEEN gift cards were accidentally printed with TCN GIFT gift card branding. If you want to read more about this (including how to avoid it), have a look here.

    • A recent deal on Good Food gift cards revealed the digital version was working at any merchants using MCC 5812 or MCC 5813, not just the restaurants mentioned on the website. However, I am not entirely sure whether the physical version in this deal currently behaves in the same way, so does anyone want to volunteer as a sacrifice?

    • For anyone looking at the physical Good Food gift cards or Pub & Bar gift cards in this deal, a quirk that I did not discover until last week (the hard way) is that any merchants using Square terminals cannot accept magstripe payments from EFTPOS cards, because Square believes those are too much of a security risk and are being phased out anyway. A workaround (at least for the Pub & Bar gift card) is to exchange it for the digital Mastercard version that can be stored on Apple Pay, Google Wallet or Samsung Wallet, although the digital version requires a mobile wallet, plus it means you have to pay any Mastercard surcharge levied by the merchant.

      Can I use the TCN Gift card to buy Sony Digital card from JB Hifi?

      Probably.

      If you try to use a physical TCN TEEN or GIFT gift card at a physical JB Hi-Fi store, the checkout system should let you use a physical TCN gift card as a payment method for any gift cards sold in the store. (Make sure to tell the staff member you want to pay by card or EFTPOS, not gift card.) However, you may run into a staff member who will not let you use a gift card to purchase a gift card under any circumstances. This is unusual, but can happen.

      If you exchange your physical TCN TEEN or GIFT gift card for a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card, you will then fall under the JB Hi-Fi gift card terms and conditions, which clearly states that you can use a JB Hi-Fi gift card to purchase a third-party gift card (e.g. a PlayStation gift card). That means:

      • If you go to the JB Hi-Fi website, it will let you use a JB Hi-Fi gift card as a payment method for PlayStation digital gift cards.

      • If you go to a physical JB Hi-Fi store, the checkout system will let you use a JB Hi-Fi gift card as a payment method for PlayStation gift cards, but you again may have a staff member who will not let you use a gift card to purchase a gift card under any circumstances… except that staff member would be violating the JB Hi-Fi gift card terms and conditions, so you would have grounds to push back (and probably talk to a manager or something).

      The issue is that PlayStation gift cards are only able to be used to pay for digital goods sold on the PlayStation Store, so I am confused when you say:

      I then want to use it towards purchasing a Play Station from Sony store.

      A quick check of the bottom of the Sony online store homepage shows only four payment methods, and none of them are PlayStation gift cards.

      Is there a reason you want to purchase a PlayStation from the Sony store instead of JB Hi-Fi? You can use TCN gift cards (and JB Hi-Fi gift cards) to pay for a PlayStation at JB Hi-Fi.

        I want to utilize my Amex offer which is giving me $100 off on $500 purchase. The idea was to pay the $200 by discounted gift cards and rest $5000 with Amex. But i guess it wont work that way.

          Ahhh yeah, I forgot about that Sony / AMEX offer. There is no way you can leverage that AMEX offer and this gift card deal to help pay for a PlayStation. You can only pick one.

      I have never heard of Woolworths blocking AMEX credit cards from being used to pay for gift cards in their stores.

      I have also never heard of AMEX rejecting purchases at Woolworths (unless AMEX believed something fraudulent was going on, or the wrong PIN was provided, or there was insufficient credit available…).

      I have used AMEX credit cards to purchase gift cards many times instore at Woolworths and Coles (and other retailers, such as Officeworks, Giftz.com.au and Prezzee) and have never faced any issues.

      I can't answer to that question, however a limit of ten gift cards per day per Everyday Rewards account applies.
      Make sure you don't get more than ten gift cards per day.

      The answer is no, because eBay places redemption limits on the number and dollar amount of eBay gift cards you can redeem.

      @hanofee has already told you about the number limit, but clause 11 of the eBay gift card terms and conditions also states a dollar amount limit:

      No more than a total of $1,500 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per transaction, no more than a total of $2,000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per day, and no more than a total of $5,000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per calendar month.

    Does that mean that TCN Gift and TCN Teens are for all denominations? Not just the ones pictured? Do you know which denominations Woolworths stocks?

      The deal applies to all denominations of TCN GIFT and TCN TEEN gift cards, because:

      • The terms state this deal is for all denominations of pictured gift cards, and
      • The terms do not state any excluded denominations.

      The only denominations of TCN GIFT and TEEN gift cards I have seen stocked at Woolworths are $30 and $50.

      The crystal ball is currently out of order.

      I was not actually expecting two rounds of 10% off prepaid gift cards already for NSW/ACT stores so far this year, so I am doubtful whether the next round would really be starting June 21. My hunch is that Coles is moving towards 10% off prepaid gift card deals rolling across specific jurisdictions across a number of weeks, because that - combined with the Flybuys requirement - is a less chaotic approach to those kind of deals.

          Before 2021, there was nothing (at least nothing of note).

          In 2021, there were three nationwide deals for 10% off Coles Gift Mastercards.

          In 2022, there were two nationwide deals for 10% off Coles Mastercard gift cards, plus a NSW/ACT exclusive deal for 10% off Vanilla Visa gift cards, plus a VIC/TAS exclusive deal for 10% off Vanilla Visa gift cards.

          In 2023, there was a NSW/ACT exclusive deal for 10% off Vanilla Visa gift cards, and then 10% off Coles Mastercard gift card deals exclusive to WA/SA/NT, then QLD, then VIC/TAS, then NSW/ACT.

          Btw, the point is that these 10% off prepaid gift card deals would be a loss-leader. In other words, Coles wants you to come into their stores and hopefully pick up a couple of random things whilst you are running around trying to find where the Coles Mastercard gift cards are stocked in the store…

              @Bullion78: True… except I think InComm (the gift card scheme owner) would be making money from breakage, not Coles nor Heritage Bank… unless there is something in Coles' contract with InComm where Coles gets a cut of the money made from breakage or interchange fees or something… (I'm merely speculating at this point!)

                @WookieMonster: I find TCN has a level-up here, especially on card.gift. When you buy a particular retailer giftcard, TCN only passes the money to purchase it after you activate it (not at the time of delivery). It involves many clicks or even SMS. By doing so, TCN retains the money forever or longer than its competitors. It is also the reason why no App to manage them as it prefers the giftcards to be like shreds and pieces.

      I would say yes, because that is the limit listed in the terms and conditions in the catalogue.

      Whether you will automatically receive the points from your purchase of up to ten gift cards tomorrow is a different question, because I do not know whether there would be a bug in the Everyday Rewards system that would cause the checkout to not reward the correct number of points to you tomorrow.

      Yes.

      The exchange portal can be accessed through the TCN gift card website by following these steps:

      • Go to the webpage for the TCN GIFT gift card on the TCN website. (You can find a link in the table in OP's description.)

      • Scroll down to the How To Use section

      • Enter the gift card number into the box and select Continue

      • Choose eBay from the dropdown list

      • Click/tap on Proceed

      • Follow the subsequent steps to have the digital gift card emailed to you.

      And does ebay accept multiple vouchers?

      once u convert to ebay giftcard, TCN is out of the picture, ur now dealing with ebay only. and yes, it'd be return as an ebay giftcard on the exact configuration u use them (if it's 2x $20, it'd be returned exactly the same as 2x $20) but this time, the returned giftcard is already tied to your ebay account and can't no longer be used by other's ebay account.

    My frustrating experience:
    - Only $50 cards available at Woolworths in store, very frustrating
    - Purchase process requires manual staff approval, can be frustrating for staff (sorry)
    - You cannot use the Woolworths bonus points to pay for subsequent gift cards, very frustrating
    - Conversion to ebay codes requires manual entry of pin number, code, phone number, phone number, name, email for every single card, very frustrating
    - Emails with actual ebay codes takes around 5 min per code, very frustrating
    - THERE IS NO LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF EBAY CODES USED PER TRANSACTION. Nice surprise

    Overall, spent a few hours to "save" $50 on $500 gift cards, but I never shop at Woolworths normally so it's not quite a win

      I take it back - ebay has blocked me from using more cards. I managed to apply 8 vouchers and one code before it errored out.

            @test8888: The commenter is trying to address the previous gripe of not being able to use Everyday Rewards Dollars to pay for more gift cards by suggesting to use the Everyday Rewards Dollars at EG Ampol (which is only possible at their mainland Australia service stations).

            If you want to be able to use Qantas points to help pay for your fuel, you will need to go to a participating BP service station accepting BP Rewards (and have a BP Rewards account linked to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account).
