For Home Assistant users, all models can be used with the new Roborock integration but cannot yet be used offline. This is less of a concern with the S8 not having a camera, but still makes them reliant on the cloud for now. Thanks to @The Clash and @sini180 for their help with that info.

    I'm glad I bought my S5 for $500 lol

      Same here.

The increased suction values don't mean shit, I've seen several reviews where older Roborocks seem to pick up more percentage wise.

    • +1

Yep that was a great buy at the time.

These won’t be for everyone, but I hadn’t seen the new S8s have much discount, and I saw that there were a few people subscribed to the S8 Pro Ultras so wanted to post it for them.

Just got the S8 Pro Ultra for $1900, make friends with staff from JB, the markup is insane on these

    • Wow, that’s a great deal! Nice job!

    • +2

Could you please post a receipt? Hopefully they would match it

    • Omg! Any OzB on here works at JB? 😂

    • +1

Receipt? Would love to price match with 28 degrees

    • Could I please get a copy as well?

    • +1

      This can’t be right 😂??

      • Yeah that's a huge saving. Will need to see to believe as well!

  • Anyone got a spare voucher?

  • Are all companies taking the piss theae days or what?

Is there a competition to awe who prices goods most ridiculously high?

$2400 for a vac? Really? It'd better be recycling the dust it sucks up and power my home.

    • Read the actual reviews and see what they could actually do first mate. Not for everyone at that price point but the amount of technologies jammed into these automatic vacuum robot are actually pretty cool. Also not everyone got time to clean their house everyday and as far as they are concerned this is a life improvement investment that can run strong for at least 3-5 years.

      • Better make aure it doesnt break and last at least 3 years then.

I have a $500 xiaomi robo vac and it does the job fine.

I'm not dissing robovacs, but saying $2400 is really taking the piss.

        • +1

I was thinking the same and then proceeded into watching people putting robot vacuum into caged-like areas to test their cleaning capacity and it was a bit of a rabbit hole lol. Ended up ordering the S7+ for $1,016 the other day (god damn allphones delayed shipping my order).

Anyway most of the people here would wait a bit for the price to go down anyway. I think the mopping function and climbing over rug and avoidance detection are quite useful in certain scenarios and the auto-empty fuctionality is like icing on the cake really. But now would be the best time to wait for the S7+ or S7 Ultra VMax to come down in price.

  • Does anyone who have any idea about "6000 pa suction " vs Dyson " 10xxxx rpm " suction ? I trully don't know how to compare.

    • +1

6000pa describes the suction pressure, whilst the Dyson 10xxxx rpm (how fast it rotates) is not as meaningful, it's just typical dyson marketing hype.

      • Thanks. Because Dyson recently jump into this market and Dyson new robot only claim their high RPM, never talk about suction in pa, that's confused me.

      • -1

And at those speed the battery on the Dyson only last 13 minutes before needing to recharge.

    • The Dyson robot has 65AW. Converted to Pa, that would be 3380Pa. The S8 has 6000Pa.

  • What are differences between
    S7 MaxV Ultra & S8 Pro Ultra?

    • It's a downgrade if you in hard floor. There is YouTube channel that actually test, and not just bealive roborock marketing material.

S8 have better carpet vacum performance due it it's dual roller brush, and better hair tangle avoidance in its sweeping arm(you can just buy s8 sweeping arm and put in s7).

VibraRise 2.0 actually less effective mopping solution. As now you cannot remove the mopping plate and the robot will not know if there is a mopping cloth attach. Not to mention the water tank is not removable. So if some reason something wrong with it you need to replace the whole robot.

You also lost the camera system……

The dock itself is an upgrade since it already built in drying solution and the filter can be easily clean.

I wait for roborock q Revo(yeah it basically l10 s ultra re-skin with roborock better software ) if I were you or wait for s7 maxv ultra + drying module when it goes on sale.

Roborock basically cut production cost on s8 pro ultra they even make s7 pro ultra with the same downgrade as s8 pro ultra.
