so i found these TMEZON wireless cameras and realised the 2 pack was cheaper than buying them individually with the sale amazon has for prime customers

but more importantly found that 2 pack + 2 separate solar panels was cheaper than buying 2 x solar panel kits

For reference:
camera alone normally $69. The 2 pack makes it $55.875 individually so almost $14 cheaper
* camera + solar panel kit - 89.25 - https://www.amazon.com.au/TMEZON-Rechargeable-Surveillance-D… (for reference only)
* solar panel standalone - 9% off $26.99 - https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0B74SC85H

so manually bundling the 2 pack plus 2 standalone solar panels is $165.73 for 2 solar cameras or $82.865 each - cheaper than buying the solar+camera kit

Someone please correct me in case im wrong and the solar panel isnt compatible. But otherwise this seems to be a cheaper deal if you need more than 1

Same listing above has the q30s for $36.75 (outdoor but non solar or battery - wired)

I have compared them to other brands. Basically if you wanted an even cheaper alternative to Reolink, EUFY or Tplink. This appears to use slightly older tech (so 1080p, max 2k with no starlight sensors) but still seems to have ai and tracking. But at literally half the cost with solar and battery functionaltiy

for reference, cheap tp link indoor, not waterproof, no solar or battery are around $47. Wyze cameras are all over $59 and no battery, Eufy and Reolink START at $89 unless you buy refurbished

For a 4 camera system this ends up costing about $223.5 with solar and battery functionality. That is half the price of an equivalent Eufy/reolink setup
You can add a PTZ 2k camera for $100 more and 2 indoor cameras. net cost would then be 3 times cheaper.

Note this is assuming you just want basic entry level 1080p wirefree setup like i do

Do these easily connect in to something like Frigate or an NVR for recording(like the more expensive counterparts)? Couldn't find any details in the listing

  • Been considering this camera but saw the review and it appears that these have slow response to motion detection. Anyone who tried, is that true?

Also how is the app and does this have RTSP or google home integration, etc?

    • I have one camera installed :
      Pros :
      1. Good battery life probably around 75-90 days on fully charged

      Cons:
      1. Not very clear in when it’s dark .

      Neural :
Motion detection work not as bad , picks up birds motion and wind motion .

It’s what we pay for. Worth $60 .
I get it for $51 on Amazon

I haven’t configure it to any other app , only setup with VicoHome app
      iOS link
      https://apps.apple.com/au/app/vicohome-security-camera-app/i…

      • Thanks. Was wondering how long battery life was.

    • I have tried setup through Amazon Alexa for viewing on Echo show but unsuccessful .

    • Think all battery security cam has this slow to detect/record problem.

So recently I bought a powered Wyse V3 Pro and discovered it is worse sh**! After recording an event, the Wyze camera has to wait 5min before it can detect another event. You can remove this "cool off" 5min only if you pay $3 monthly subscription

  • Looks like an old TLR camera!

Hmm, looks like TMEZON don't have an API (or at least one that's not easily configured) and there's not a lot of community support for them online, so you wouldn't be able to integrate these with HomeAssistant if that's a deal breaker for you

+1 for your efforts mate !

  • Would i be able to view the camera feed in real time remotely when outside the wifi network?

    • From my experience with other cameras, yes you can.

  • Some comments say it only records for 20 seconds? What happens if you have constant movement? Does it keep recording in 20 sec intervals?

  • Also, same indoor camera is cheaper on eBay $25.99

  • Can these be controlled via mobile phone within an app

For this in the Reolink ecosystem, and willing to go refurbished, there are some pretty good deals at eBay currently with 20% off. Limited stock though.

A similar camera is the Reolink Argus 2, which (refurbished) is currently $60 for camera and solar panel, delivered from the Reolink eBay store.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/393703876837

From the same listing, the Argus 2 camera by itself is $52.

I bought a few of these same cameras with solar panels a couple of years back, refurbished, and had had no issues. One had minor marks, and the others appeared brand new. I suspect they were just returns, but I don't know if that is true for the current ones.

Keep in mind they don't do ONVIF, so are no good for connecting to a NAS. They will record to SD card and you can play it back from the Reolink app. You can't delete selected clips though the app - only by removing the card and putting it in a computer. You can format the card, or have it overwrite footage once full.

Other notable refurb deals IMO with 20% off using code PWECBT20.
(Reolink eBay store refurb list here)

$67.19. E1 Zoom. WiFi. 5MP, 3x optical zoom, pan and tilt, can be connected to a NAS. Indoor only. (I have one - it's decent camera for the price).
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/393023745021

$42.39. E1 Pro. WiFi. 4MP Pan and tilt but no zoom. Can record to a NAS. Indoor only.

$31.99. E1. WiFi. 3MP pan and tilt. Cannot record to a NAS. Can record to SD. Indoor only. (I picked up a couple of these refurbed ultra cheap. They are decent enough for remote monitoring areas but the Pro is prob worth the $10 extra.)
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/394477900009

$124.79. Argus PT. 1080P, Outdoor, WiFi, pan and tilt with battery and solar. (older 1080P version, but decent for outdoor solar pan and tilt.)

Burnt too many times by Reolink for my liking

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13732169/redir

      • Yeah, that sounds painful.

Reolink may use the frustrating Customs Bonded Warehouse loophole (like almost all large China based companies selling in Australia) to largely stay out of the reach of Australian Consumer Law. It's easy to get caught out by this, and while technically the ACL still applies, there is almost no way to enforce it.

That said, I don't know if they do or not. Out of curiosity, I will ask for a tax invoice on my last purchase and see what they say.

Generally though, it's ridiculous that our custom laws support international companies legally making the end consumer the importer. For 240V goods, technically the consumer (as the importer) can be fined for importing good that are not compliant with Australian regulations - even if they have no idea! Of course the Gov does not care, since they get their sweet GST at the expense of Australians. The same goes for marketplaces like eBay - they could very easily make companies warn buyers if they don' have an Australian registered importer, but they don't, because it's profitable not to.

As far as I am aware (from my own experience anyway) refurbished Reolink cameras come from local returns (I don't know if they repair any here) so are via a local company that can't avoid the ACL. My one experience with Reolink warranty was with a refurb (the ACL still applies to refurbs), and after a vid of the problem they just sent a replacement without needing a return. So I am relatively happy to recommend refurbs.

For new Reolink cameras, IMO best to buy from an Australian importer if you want to avoid the international returns shenanigans. Even if Reolink have an Australian based part of the company for imports, it's very anti-consumer to require Australian shipped goods to be sent internationally for warranty. In such a case, I would have no qualms about resorting to more creative ways to do "warranty" claims.

    • this was basically my backup set

but tmzeon was directly via amazon so far easier to deal with and all new units instead of refurb

  • How secure are these TMEZON cameras? Any connection to the CCP?

Does not answer your question but if you buy 2 vowels, “I” and “E” the brand name would be “TIMEZONE”
