  • Hello. Would this work well as a silent UPS for my router/modem etc?

    • +3

just get a proper cyberpower/APC UPS for that

      • I did, they aren't silent. People say they are silent when not charging, but I can hear it all the time.

        • +1

never heard the fan on my units before, how often is it kicking in?

        • +2

Sounds like you got a really big overkill one. Even a smaller powerboard one would suffice.

These mini power stations have fans too and you'll hear them when running.

        • +1

Yea, I had one of those, a low buzz a lot of the time. I ended up getting one of the units from Jaycar and it is perfectly silent all the time. I had one before but decided on a bigger cyberpower but lesson learned and back to a (new) Jaycar one.

          • @Ruprect: What was the Jaycar unit you’re so happy with?

Asking cos I’d like to look into one for myself.

          • @Ruprect: Low buzz shouldn't be happening during normal operation.
            - if it was large unit, you might have fant running?
            - if it was online model, that may have small buzz all the time but if it is too loud, it might be faulty
            - if it is small line-interactive model, it should be completely silent during normal operation until the power goes out and inverter kicks in - then it will buzz a bit.

Brand has nothing to do with it - its all about what physics allow.

        • +1

I had an APC that had an annoying loud buzz, complained and they replaced it and no issues.

  • How long will it keep running with Router and modem plugged in?

    • +1

How many watts does your modem and router use? at a guess this could run them for a couple of days at least.

    • +1

A quick google suggested routers will use in the 6-20w range. With two devices, guess on the high end.

It claims 537w (probably can’t be discharged 100%) so let’s round down to 500w, divide by 20w = 25h. This will degrade over time and the battery itself will self consume (monitoring, conversion losses, …).

I have a 300ish watt hour unit and in real world terms a 30w load usually kills my battery in 6h (should be closer to 10 but oh well, good enough)

    • According to the power of your product, if which is 30W, and the capacity of the power station, which is 537WH, the estimated usage time is approximately 17 hours.

If I'm single then I would use this at home in evenings and charge it of office during day and remove electricity connection at home.

    • +3

I thought of that, then I just phoned AGL and added my home meter to the work electricity account, so they just pay it without realising. Going strong for 5 years.

      • +1

Nice. Feel free to share your address here so oir ozbargainers can come and charge the UPS in your home

      • +1

That’s really not the kind of move you should be bragging about in public tbh

      • +1

Not sure if you forgot the /s tag or are just a prison enthusiast… :D

        • +2

Hmmm, I should add /s to posts, I just feel it takes away the edge.

    • +1

537Whr battery, probably save you 15c a day. Worth it?

      • But what abt service charges u pay in the bill. I pay aby $1.24 per day…. Which is more that what i consume some days

        • Ya, true. But i wouldn’t disconnect from grid with a 500+Whr storage… :D

    • +4

This has a useable capacity of 537*.85 = 456Wh. That's about 20cents of electricity. So it'll take you 15 years of taking it to work every single day to charge to break even.

  • Can this power a TV, Ps5 and a microwave? Asking for a friend.

    • Of course it can, it can supply power to 220V household appliances, also the tv,ps5 and microwave

      • a 700w microwave which is on the lowest powered end…

  • +1

100 watts on USB-C PD. With 44AH battery that will keep your laptop running a long time. Not sure if that's a good thing, considering the Bluetti's raison d'être is off-grid…

  • +5

Better deal on EB70 with code PWECBT20, brings it down to $719 , plus get free carry bag Ebay

    • That one is cheaper and has nearly twice the capacity, but the always-on fans while charging just suck. Even when the power cable is just connected to a wall and not charging, the fan still goes.

      • +1

I guess that's the way it is with most/all of these units… people want the batteries to last and be performing at their best efficiency, so they need to be thermally managed… and spinning fans are the cheapest, easiest solution for these types of devices.

  • +1

Thanks bought one for my Steam Deck

  • +1

I use the EB70 for my astrophotography. Great units, but the display that shows capacity isn't good (in 20% bands rather than specific percentages)

  • Can this be connected to my fuse box/meter to power my whole apartment?

    • "It is suitable for your household appliances and electronic products, but it is not recommended to directly connect it to the electric meter

  • +1

Not a bargain. Other sellers are doing it for the same price.

    • yeah even Bluetti regularly have it at this price.

  • Got a EB70 last week on the Ebay Week sales for $700

    • How do you rate it? Are the fans loud when charging?

      • +1

The fan of the AC charger is a bit loud but the unit is very quiet.
