                      Fair enough?

                  • @jackspratt:

I may, or may not, agree with the definition in the documentary if I had even a scintilla of interest in watching it.

lol, man and here you are arguing about it?? Just watch it already ffs

      • +3

So much so that those who dare to hold traditional feminist views are now termed "TERFs"

    • +2

Older feminism was necessary and helped women gain a fair place in society.

But new 4th wave feminism - yeah, that's been a complete disaster

  • I guess the real question people here need to ask is "What is freedom"?

    From the video:

Q: Describe a woman without using the word woman
    A: silence
    Q: What is a woman?
A: Marry one and find out.

    Me: rolling eyes
For me it's simple, just stick to the definition in the dictionary: an adult female human being. And what is a female? A mammal with XX chromosomes.
    But definition is just definition.
It does not mean that people can not or should not have freedom in changing their gender appearances to match their "inner self", or have a romantic relationship with just their opposite gender.

    • +2

People can think whatever they like.. it does not change what they are

      • Actually, it does. If people always think of bad thoughts, over time they will become more and more sad and miserable. If people always think of happy thoughts, their life will be fun and enjoyable.
And "what you are" is not only physical and mental, but both because they affect each other.

What if someone indentify as a wolf?

            • +1

@leiiv: If someone identifies as a wolf, does that make them a wolf?

              • +1

@gto21: I think you (and others) are arguing wrong things with me.

If someone identifies as a wolf, does that make them a wolf?

It depends. Let's take Mowgli as an example. From the perspective of
Mowgli: i may be physically different from a wolf, but a wolf at heart, and I believe the wolves are my family.
The wolves: He is a different kind of wolf, but he is our family!
Me: No he is not a wolf. But I let him be, and I will defend his freedom to choose his own life that will make him happy (eg stay with the wolves).
You: No he is not a wolf, and it triggers you greatly. And this is my assumption, where we differ: you would want to reintegrate him to your own rigid society at the expense of his freedom and happiness, just like borg. Please correct me if I am wrong.

                • @leiiv: Your example is when Mowgli declares that he is different from a wolf. In response, you also assert that he is not a wolf, and I concur with your viewpoint.

However, if Mowgli were to claim that he is indeed a wolf, you would affirm his statement, while I would respectfully disagree. This a better representation of the fundamental essence of the debate.

If people always think of happy thoughts, their life will be fun and enjoyable.

so men thinking of themselves as trans can become women just merely thinking about it? Why is there then such a dire need for hormone therapy and bottom surgery/mutilation you reckon?

          Essentially your argument is

just stick to the definition in the dictionary: an adult female human being

and then a random dude can think and dress like a woman.
He does not become a woman and should not expect the rest of the society to go along with the delusion and support him to its logical conclusion such as competing in women sports and using their restrooms.

          • @dBagDealer:

so men thinking of themselves as trans can become women just merely thinking about it?

They ARE already women, at their heart. The hormone and surgery are to make them appears physically as woman.

The conflict in their mind and in our society is also contributed more or less by our rigid social construct, woman has to be like this, man has to be like that, etc which does not really have a solid reason. Separate sports and restrooms are social construct as well. I personally have no issues with unisex restrooms.
My point is that the answer to the conflict is not by rejecting and hating them, which is what this documentary trying to induce.

            • @leiiv:

Separate sports and restrooms are social construct as well

Is this based on your personal opinion or facts?
There are studies clearly showing differences between males and females. Males tend to be generally (noting exceptions) physically more capabale than women, therefore separate sports.

              Here is one:
              https://asbmr.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1359/JBMR.04100…

            • @leiiv: How did the documentary promote the rejection and hatred of them?

            • +3

@leiiv: not so much a woman at their heart, but mentally ill, or more likely homosexual.

do they also get surgery to change their pelvis? bone density decreased? muscle mass removed? nope!

            • @leiiv: Unisex rest and changing rooms? Tell that to Riley Gaines and her peers who very much do not agree with your premise.

    • +2

Regarding the "inner self". One may experience a sense of identifying as a woman, but how can they truly comprehend the essence of being a woman if they are not one themselves?

      • Perhaps they can't. Who knows. It does not matter to us. And is there actually such thing as "the essence of being a woman (or man)"? What is the essence of being a human? That's metaphysical, a kin to asking "what is the meaning of life".

But what matter is, who are we to judge what and how other people feel?

        • +2

          You said: "Perhaps they can't."

If they cannot provide any evidence, we have no basis to accept their claim.

          • +2

@gto21: You don't have to accept their claim. I don't too, depending on what you actually mean by accepting.
But you can try to be more empathetic and tolerant to their conditions.

            • @leiiv: Many will argue that by rejecting their claim, you demonstrate a lack of empathy and tolerance, mirroring the same criticism back at you.

      • Regarding the "inner self". One may experience a sense of identifying as a woman, but how can they truly comprehend the essence of being a woman if they are not one themselves?

You experience being a man(an adult male human being) - What is the essence of being a man?

        • What is a male?

          • @gto21: I don't think there is any dispute around the term male or female. If there is, maybe you should make a doco - i'm sure it would have similar production quality to "What is a woman?".

Back to the question - What is the essence of being a man?

            • @ihfree: Define what is a male.

              • @gto21:

an individual of the sex that is typically capable of producing small, usually motile gametes (such as sperm or spermatozoa) which fertilize the eggs of a female

Are you saying that the essence of a man is simply the ability to produce motile gametes?

                • @ihfree: How you just define "man" and "male". Are they circular definitions?

                  • @gto21: Based on what 'man' means to you - What is the essence of being a man?

                    • @ihfree: Based on the definitions you provided, are those circular definitions?

                      • @gto21: We're getting hung up on semantics. I've made an attempt to build a common definition - based on the context, being male would be a prerequisite to being a man. However, in society and at a personal level there is much more to a man than simply gametes.

                        You've stated:

how can they truly comprehend the essence of being a woman if they are not one themselves?

A simple way to think of man for the purposes of my question is in the same way you've used 'woman' but pertaining to males. The definition doesn't need to be exact and often isn't in conversation.

                        So, once again:

Based on what 'man' means to you - What is the essence of being a man?

Or, is this something just based on feeling that can't be put into words?

                        • @ihfree: You are answering a question that I did not ask. Please answer my question.

                          • +1

@gto21: Very evasive - it sounds like you are unable to "truly comprehend the essence of being a woman"

                            • @ihfree: You failed to address my initial question. Instead, you asked a question. Despite my requests for clarification, you persistently avoid providing a direct response, forcing me to repeat my questions multiple times. Please refrain from engaging in the conversation if you are unable to offer answers.

                              • @gto21: I've given an answer and revised my question to make it easier for you to answer. I've attempted to build shared context so that you can answer my question.

Besides, like most other language, meaning is derived from context - not really sure where to go from there. You have a dictionary if you just want definitions.

It's an interesting one for your arguments that you can't even answer a question on the essence of being a man.

                                • @ihfree: Please inform me when you respond to my question. If you wish to talk to yourself, please refrain from replying to my comment. If you would like to proceed with our conversation, please click on "Reply" and provide an answer.

                                  • @gto21: Likewise, let me know when you have an answer to my question. I did ask first.

You can answer using your own personal definition of man. We seem to be on the same page regarding definition anyway.

                                    As you've said:

how can they truly comprehend the essence of being a woman if they are not one themselves?

As you're unable to answer and you're one of the people who obviously has a view on the 'essence of being a woman', what does that mean for the question around the "essence of a man"? Is it some intangible, inexplicable, undefinable thing? Do you just know as man? Would there be different feelings for different men? What would be common?

So much to think about. I don't see why the question is so hard. The most telling thing is your lack of a response.

Do you "truly comprehend the essence of being a man"?

                                    • @ihfree: False, you jumped into a conversation. I asked the person a question, but you had to chime in. I don't know why you think you asked the question first when you responded to my question with a question.

If you would like to contribute to the conversation, please respond to my initial question instead of pretending that you asked the first question.

                                      • @gto21: This is a public forum - surely you know how these things work by now? I'm sure you've complained about people interrupting your "private conversations" before.

I am interested in what you think the "essence of a man is." Now i'm left wondering whether you truly comprehend the essence of being a man.

Anyway, if you don't want to answer, that's fine - we can leave things there.

                                        • @ihfree: Please feel free to interject as often as you wish, but it's important to note that your interruptions do not give you the authority to control the conversation.

                                          • @gto21: Yeah, once again public forum. You're making a lot of noise and being quite disrespectful. You can also just ignore the replies which I think would be better than engaging in bad faith. I have answered your questions and attempted to build common ground to allow conversation to proceed.

The topic of masculinity which i'd imagine has overlap with the "essence of being a man" is an interesting one to me.

I'll leave you with this - maybe a little old fashioned in thinking: I think you can be male, over the age of 21, and believe in men being males yet still fail to be a man.

                                            • @ihfree: It seems that you are hesitant to respond because you feel trapped or cornered.

I believe you have to rely on a traditional definition to maintain clarity in our conversation. If we were to adopt a different definition, such as the one used by the LGBT community, it may render your question meaningless.

This is a public forum where everyone is welcome to participate. However, please note that you will not control the direction of the conversation. If you wish to contribute, kindly respond to the questions posed. If you choose not to answer, I regret that I won't be able to help you.

                                              • @gto21: I don't even know what I haven't answered. Seeing as the question pertains to a something you said, interpreting it in a different way would be dishonest. Unless, that's what you mean in your original comment in which case, you're sentence is a confused mess.

Hence why I've said "based on your interpretation."

You're arguing about a word that you have used and how someone else might define it when by your own admission, it has been interpreted correctly. Honestly, you're just wasting everyone's time when you're so hung up on these points.

                                                • @ihfree: Today is your fortunate day! You have the opportunity to revisit and reread any comment you may have forgotten.

You do not have an alternative but to employ a traditional definition. If you use the same definition as the LGBT, your sentences and questions will become devoid of meaning. After reading numerous comments from both yourself and others, I have come to the conclusion that individuals attempting to undermine the traditional definition must resort to utilizing it to make sense.

                                                  • @gto21:

If you use the same definition as the LGBT…

Duh, because in this case it pertains to your sentences so the definition is established based on context.

Besides, my opinion of the definition is irrelevant, I would suggest you use a dictionary if you are interested in definitions outside of the context of the conversation.

                                                    undermine

We're using an established definition here, mate. I don't know what you're complaining about ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you can't comprehend that along with the "essence of being a man" - that's on you.

                                                    • -2

@ihfree: I'm tempted to let you make sense of the sentences and questions by using the LGBT definition of those words. However, at the same time, I don't want you to deviate. As I already know, once I set you up, when you realize you are cornered, you will refuse to answer.

I understand you're saying you're using context, but the alternative definitions are not an option as it would render the sentences and questions meaningless. Therefore, you don't really have a choice if you want to make sense. However, I'd rather not delve into that topic. I prefer an answer to my previous questions.

                                                      • +1

@gto21: That is a confused mess of a comment - context is everything. You understand what is meant, I understand what is meant but you're going for a gotcha moment. Anyway, it's nice to get what is effectively an admission that you're acting in bad faith.

but the alternative is not an option as it would render the sentences and questions meaningless

Yeah, repeating one of my points.

                                                        • -1

@ihfree: When someone takes something out of context, the words used can still hold meaning. However, in your case, not only will it be devoid of context, but the word will also lose meaning. Its meaninglessness arises not solely from being out of context but also from the absence of meaning within the words themselves.

Now, let's shift our focus back to the questions you did not answer.

                                                          • -1

@gto21: There is no point responding to someone who is acting in bad faith.

                                                          • @gto21: tldr; but I think I got the gist of what you are trying to say and that is: barring exceptions, men can never become women and vice versa.

Thought it would sense to revive the point of this documentary amongst the madness.

    What is MALE or FEMALE?
I have read the whole thread and I am troubled by the dire state of humanity in its current form. While both sides make valid arguments, the worst aspect is most of it tends to turn to abuse. This is disheartening, saddening and truly does highlight the deeper truth of all involved, in that most care passionately about this or that but not about promoting the GROWTH of themselves so that they can better constructively converse.

But to bring it back to the topic at hand… a question for ALL of us that sums it all up -
What is in your HEAD or HEART that says you are a MALE OR FEMALE or something else?
A FEELING? Ok, but specifically what is that feeling and HOW would it know whether it’s a MALE or FEMALE or something else? What would it be comparing itself to if it’s never experienced anything else?
Would it be its cultural conditioning and some externally derived notion of what being male or female is?
I think so… for what else could it possibly be?

So this automatically highlights the indisputable truth that we are faced with…
That you are born MALE or FEMALE no ifs or buts… (and we note rare cases neither or both).
You are then CONDITIONED into “cultural stereotypes” for how each gender is meant to speak, act, look, and behave… which is entirely subjective for the culture and now the individual as society expands in technology, science and awareness and challenges all norms.

Now this is where it all goes topsy turvy and where I believe gets hijacked and capitalized on by the machine that dictates most conditioning (which is corrupted in nature as it doesn’t teach you the deeper truths of life) in order to further maintain power and control over all.
Essentially what we’re seeing here is the SCREENS associating reality with subjective conditioning and what is in mind, and then externalizing that out into culture in order to form a new world.

So it is trying to mix your tangible and unchangeable physical attributes with your conditioning in order to warp not just the cultural expression we ALL experience but more importantly the deeper truths of life… in that at the level of MIND we are all one and the same thing and merely ‘NEUTRAL CONSCIOUSNESS’ having a subjective gendered experience of itself through the sex that reality gave us.

What this means is… a man is always going to be a man and likewise for a woman. And that isn’t changing any time soon, well not until we have the technology to change ourselves at the molecular level.

Of course what is changing are all the cultural stereotypes and how we FEEL about them. Blue is no longer just for boys and girls can like it too, as color means nothing in the big equation, or the ladies can now go and be the primary bread winners for the households etc. All those little culturally fabricated rules are now up for self-destruction, and that is a good thing because they all largely mean nothing at the level of ‘reality’.

But make no doubt about it… a male is still a male and that will never change.

So essentially the core issue here is ‘consciousness’ that doesn’t KNOW what it is… and in turn buys into its corrupted cultural conditioning and thus gender stereotypes, and then associates being male or female with all the false cultural constructs instead of seeing that is it merely ‘NEUTRAL AWARENESS’ having a male or female body experience. Because there is no other real or tangible story here other than how you are under cultural mind control and believing in false or limiting constructs where the boys must do this and the girls must do that.

So the big question is – WHO or WHAT would push the association of tangible sex into another mind-made story of separation and WHY would it do it? What agenda does it truly serve?

Well now we have to start theorizing as that’s all you can ever do at this point, but what we can do is acknowledge the world around us and how it’s already set up and works in that, most information is weaponized, polarized and capitalized on as the primary method of controlling the perceptions of billions of minds.

So I think TRANS… hmmm…. TRANS… what is it that they (the pushers of the corrupted conditioning and false associations) would be seeking by conditioning the youth (as that’s who it’s primarily affecting) into this new thought process.

Well the first thing that springs to mind is where we are currently at, in that humanity is on the precipice of merging man with machine and so TRANS-Humanism… a situation that would allow the corporates to have regular access and authority over our internal bodies, while also putting us under 24/7 surveillance.

I then note what the globalists recently pushed for in regards to this area with vaccines, in that they sought exactly the same thing and started setting the legal and social precedence/norms for such a framework.

Hence while it is all just theory, the indisputable picture starts to build itself… that TRANS-Gender and being anything you want (which I notice is now happening with the furries) is just one quick step away from TRANS-Humanism, which would explain why it must be vehemently defended, just like the roll out of the vaccines was (which I note - people no longer care to uptake making the majority into those pesky ANTI-Vaxxers!!!).

But still the truth is… No one should be abused or attacked for being or feeling who or what they are…

However the next truth is, pushing ignorance and delusion is a toxic and damaging attack on the truth, the individual and culture itself… hence it shouldn’t be allowed either. It’s all just a cultural battle that will never seek to bring you to the deeper truth that you are at the level of mind just genderless neutral awareness that needs no other story or label to fully express the deeper valued truth of itself.

So I would say to all… don’t let POWER divide you from the TRUE ESSENCE of yourself… we should with all this knowledge be moving away from confected “LABELS of SEPARATION” (both internally and externally) not moving into more of them. For that is it seeking to CORRUPT and CONTROL the very experience you get to have…

For me… I was born a MAN… but at the guts of it I am mere HU-MAN, no other story required… and that is HOW I SEE all other people full stop.
I do not care for upholding stereotypes, I do not care to uphold any beliefs or feelings, I do not care to uphold any national/racial/gender/corporate label or story full stop.

What would be the need for that? To try and identify myself and be relevant, worthy or valid? But I know what I am and what ALL people are and so in turn I am FREE from these things as they no longer HOLD POWER over my mind.

And that is the actual, real and true story here at the base of it all in regards to WHO or WHAT controls your mind.

And that is where the actual issue lies for me in that we were all indoctrinated into certain beliefs without a say which go onto form the oppressive conditioning that dominates our lives…

And that is exactly what we see going on in this new way with the kids which is nothing less than more child abuse, just like we were ALL abused as our systems sunk us DEEPER into collective delusions while ignoring and hiding these deeper truths.

That YOU and I are just male and female bodies fostering and nurturing ‘NEUTRAL AWARENESS’… where all else is just meaningless man-made stories there to polarize, distort and corrupt such things.

Again I ask you – WHAT is it exactly that says and dictates that you’re a man or woman in your mind? Or asking it another way – WHO or WHAT is it that hears that male or female voice in your head? Could it be the truth of Neutral Objective Awareness?

I think so… and IF we understand this, the whole gender debate and debacle is over… as you’re simply born a male or female with no other story or oppressive conditioning or more importantly abuse of another required.

Now that’s just a quick 10 minute rant off the top of my head and so I hope that makes sense…
So THANKS for reading and I hope that helps. : )

      TL;DR

Do you have an abbreviated rant?

      • Don't encourage, t would just be a cookers shopping list :)

    • its pretty easy, Men have one set of genitals, Women have another and hermaphrodites are a freak of nature that actually have both genitals for REAL (no surgery or drugs), I hate to tell you but this is just another U.S. government plan to distract you all, and confuses you all so you don't realize they are decreasing the population. if everyone is confused then they won't breed.

      • I suspect, and am sure you agree, it is all those 5G towers that are lowering libidos, and testosterone levels.
