Mission Impossible 6-Movie Collection $19.99 / Individual Movie $4.99 @ Apple TV / Google TV App

500

All Mission Impossible movies currently on sale before the release of Final Reckoning. Since last year both platforms have re-released all MI movies in 4k Dolby Vision.

For Google users: Must purchase individual movies through app on Google TV ($4.99) and not Youtube ($6.99) to obtain discounted price. You can still watch your purchases on Youtube, just dont buy it on Youtube.

For Apple users: iTunes have indiividual movies for $4.99 or the entire 6 movie collection up to Fallout for $19.99.

Very certain this is ATL for these digital platforms :D They are literally charging the same amounts in USD

Edit: Looks like its on Microsoft as well for A$54.99.

I could not see any way to buy the entire collection on Google's platform. Collections seems to have disappeared ever since they removed movies and tv shows off the Play Store in Google's infinite wisdom.

If you know of a way to buy the collection for Android, please post below.

    • Yeah, classic Google. They are amazing at making there services worse for absolutely no reason. Haven't seen any movie collections on the services since they went off Play Store.

Up until a few months ago you could still backdoor Play Movies on Chromecast to purchase them, as interestingly enough, it is still Play Movies where the movies actually live. But that has since been removed.

Link didn't work for me, but maybe this bundle one will for others:

  • do you have to be subscribed to Apple TV to keep the movie deal and watch offline?

    • +3

No Apple TV+ is a streaming platform. You're talking about completely separate things. This is iTunes store where you buy movies to keep.

      • -4

until they decide you can't keep them any more.

        • +5

Apple has a policy of permanent ownership - you can download movie files. They advertise it on their store with each purchase.

My partner and I have purchased almost 1000 titles over the years to keep offline copies; we consider the cloud servicing of it a perk until something goes awry (Apple collapses, war, undersea cable attacks etc).

          Per Apple:

When you purchase access to this item, you can permanently download it to your iPhone, iPad, Mac or PC. Once downloaded, you can access this without an internet connection and Apple can't remove it from your device. If you purchase this from the Apple TV app on Apple TV, smart TVs or other streaming devices, you can't download it on those devices, but you can easily download it on compatible devices."

          • @bootlace: This is true apart from Ultra HD correct?

            • +2

@Twisty: Yep, unfortunately! Downloads @ full HD / streams at 4K. Fingers crossed they’ll change that.

              • @bootlace: Wondering if you can answer this one for me?

I have a couple of movies in my library that are SD which I thought were automatically upgraded to HD version but when I checked they want me to purchase the movie the again for the HD version. Same goes for some movies that offer iTunes Extras that want me to repurchase it

          • @bootlace: Just out of curiosity, do you happen to know what Google's policy is regarding this? My Sony is using Android tv so all of my purchases are on Google's side.

            • +3

@Fuzor: Not sure on Google’s side.

I haaaaaaaaate Google as a company so very much - I had to rebuy some titles, including a bunch of Ultraviolet titles just to get away from them.

(Though they sell some episodes of It’s Always Sunny that Apple doesn’t anymore… grrrr)

          • @bootlace: But then these downloads need to be played in iTunes, right? You can't just play them in VLC player, for example?

            • @jwh: Yep; you’d still need iTunes/a Mac/iOS device.

              • @bootlace: Out of curiosity, I checked iTunes for Mission:Impossible - Fallout.

Says it downloads in only 720p, and 4K playback requires an Apple TV 4K.

                4K

Playback quality depends on hardware and internet connection. You can watch content in 4K only on Apple TV 4K.

                HD

                Includes 720p and 1080p. (Downloading 720p.)

Was considering purchasing to watch through the Apple TV app on Google TV, but not if it won't play in 4K with Dolby Vision.

                • @jwh: That might be related to your internet speed or if over 5G.
For me It says Fallout available in UHD 4K, Dolby vision and Dolby atmos.

Checked on ATV store with iPad Pro and LG C4 app with a 250 mbps connection.

@bootlace: ok, thanks, didn't know that
… and are those downloads entirely DRM free, or do you have to do a process every so often to validate the device you are using to play them on (or similar)?

          • @bootlace: How does it work though?

What program does it need for you to watch the films? I have over 100 on iTunes(inc TV Series) and am wanting to put them on an external HDD then plug that into TV - would that work or do I need AppleTV app?

            • +1

@PepsImax600ml: iTunes / Apple TV - you can’t plug a HDD directly into a TV to play them, but you could airplay from a Mac / PC or presumably output from one of those devices over HDMI.

              • @bootlace: Wow, I didn't even see the reply from before, sorry bootlace - but thanks so much for the reply.

  • Seems weird for it not to include dead reckoning, no?

    • +5

It's $4.99 on sale at the moment - all time low. They'll likely release a 2 pack Dead/Final Reckoning, and an updated collection of all 8 films in the future.

But it'll be a long time before the full collection approaches the $25 bundled price to buy the first 7 films (collection $19.99 + Reckoning $4.99), considering $19.99 is the all time low for the first 6 film collection as it is.

  • Does he run enough for a marathon in all 6 movies…🏃🏻

  • This deal expires on the 19th aka tomorrow?

    • Yes.

      • Thanks

I feel Apple TV is the best way to collect movies now, if you buy a 1080p release and the 4K comes out later they upgrade you for free! I understand you don’t actually own them and they can revoke but if you collect at $5 a movie the risks are marginal. I haven’t had any removed over the 5years or so

    • This is the case for most but not all of the movies.

      • I own a few movies in SD and they never got upgraded to HD for free. If I go to the HD version apple wants me to buy the HD version

Also what’s the go when viewing my Apple movies library on my iPhone or Apple TV that the cover are on some movies are vertical where most are horizontally and fit the cover art banner. Kinda bugging me

        • Once again, it depends on the publisher. Some publishers upgraded SD to HD for free but some listed them as new Titles and this once again is happening with 4K.

This is around 10-20 percent of cases that I have seen so YMMV and you may never have this issue or problem.
