PiPo 16GB Android 4.1 Dual-Core 7" Tablet US $152 Shipped

20

I've never purchased one of these so I am not sure about the build quality but I am seriously considering getting one as a slim client for a HTPC setup.

I've been waiting for a Dual Core 4.1 tablet with 1GB of RAM and HDMI to come out for a while now and this seems like a great price. As a bonus it also has a SD card slot (max 32GB) and a USB host port (USB OTG), making it perfect for a media center.

There is a really Comparison with the Google Nexus 7 on the page for those interested.

I've copied some of the important details here, but there is more information in the link.

  • very good price for the specs.

  • careful this does not have BT. Despite the BT logo.

    From the comparison
    Bluetooth N/A N/A

Also there seems to be a few inconsistency with the product specification and the comparison. Eg. BT, Display Resolution.

  • Also consider you can pickup ethernet-to-USB add-on from ebay for similar setup. add to tab like the upcoming (USD150)fire you get 5MP back cam +BT + a 50% bigger 5000mAh ie. when you unplug.

    • And here I was thinking I'd get some user exp from that video…
      Nice demo one the less.

  • This one or Ainol Flame?

    • This one would be faster, but Ainol Flame would have better screen resolution and better support from the community.

      • and better battery life (44% more capacity)

  • this must be one of the first Jellybean OS tablets apart from Google, is it noticeably faster than ICS on RK3066?
ps does 4.1 expand the app storage space from 1 or 2gb to something bigger?

    • JB does not expand the /data partition for these Chinese tablets. They all tend to be configured with 1GB internal storage + 13GB internal flash (internal SD card). It is a ROM configuration issue, not an OS issue. Some custom ROMs re-partition /data, making it 2GB.

Branded tablets running Honeycomb or above don't have the odd partition approach.

The comparison table (vs Google N7) has a number of misinformation, making N7 appears inferior. However, N7 is better for sure.
