it was only 30% off recently but 25% CB. i got $240 tracked from cashrewards

      • That's no good to us now, did they have 40% off in the store too? I'd probably prefer that, seems like they not on sale that often hmm..
ps. i thought the CT classic low tops were only $90.. $130 is a bit much. DFO used to have $60 each if you bought two. Very basic canvas shoes lol. To be fair they last a long time i guess.

        • it was only 30% off recently but 25% CB. i got $240 tracked from cashrewards

30% off + $30 CB per transaction is better than 40% off and 4-5% CB. I made 8 orders, that;s how I got $240 cb tracked

          • @rosebank: Not bad - shame it isn't 30% today then.
            what's with the $240 requirement

            • @G-rig: There was $30 cap so I made 8 orders. 8x30=$240

        • I remember when these were $80-90, now priced at $130-140. "40% off" just brings them down to what they were, damn.

          • @emjk: Yes noticed that too, bs hey.
Used to be $60 after a good discount at the iconic, all they are worth IMO

    • 4.55% / 5.0% CR now.

Are converse all stars still in style?

    • +30

      They will always be

    • Yes

    • +2

They're classics, but uncomfortable. The new chunky ones are a lot more comfortable but they're an acquired taste

      • +1

Agreed. I recently moved to Vans, hightops and normal. I'm too old to have to wear in shoes. Or lazy. One of the 2 anyway.

        • +1

Hilariously, I moved from Vans to Converse as I found Converse to be far more comfortable 😂

          • @Mistymoo: Converse are more classic imo, for all age ranges and don't look like a 17yo in skate shoes. Vans canvas can wear out and get a hole in them so I prefer the converse toe guard. Converse still seem a bit narrow. Wish they weren't so hard, but great for squats.

I do have a pair with the newer Nike insole but they are more cramped again and took ages to break in but the cushioning was better obviously.

If you can grab a decent looking pair of the CX models, they are MUCH MUCH more comfortable than the OG chuck Taylors.

  • Can anyone give some help regarding sizes for chuck taylors? Should I be going for same size as my nike/adidas? (I do prefer wide fit shoes but it looks like all chuck taylors are same width?)

    • I have wide feet and chucks are some of the only casual shoes i can wear

      • What about shoe size? Same as nikes etc or go bigger?

    • They do have a very basic wide fit range if you don't mind paying full whack

    • +1

The OG 70s Chucks you have to size down one compared to Nike and adidas

      • Correct I'm an 8 in chuck and 9 in vans/Nike.

  • +1

I wish they did free returns like new balance

  • keen too to know what size ppl have on CTAS/70's… havent had a pair of these in years…i wear size 10 in nike adidas, any advise?

    • +1

Down one, so US/UK9 (their US and UK sizes are the same). All the new chunky one I linked above are TTS

      • thanks mate - is that from first hand experience, do you own a recent pair of CTAS? cheers

        • +1

Yes, I bought the gore-tex one: https://www.converse.com.au/unisex-converse-chuck-taylor-all… and also this one in the last sale: https://www.converse.com.au/unisex-converse-chuck-70-redux-s…, both size 9. The size of the shoe probably hasn't changed since the 70s.

I also have a all black leather pair and canvas lows—both close to 20 years old—and they all fit the same. They're flat, with a narrow toe box, thin canvas in most models and generally uncomfortable, that's why I've only kept two, and recntly decided to give them another shot. The gore-tex one is just like the old ones, but the white "redux" one hasa nicer insole and soft and thicker felt-like fabric rather than canvas. The midsole is also slightly different. I kept both because they cost me about 80 bucks total. I've cpmpletely ignored Converse for two decades and only started to buy them again last year because they finally started to make more interesting shoes, like the ones I linked above.

Anyway, I'm a US10 in adidas superstar, stan smith, gazelle, forum, ultraboosts, 4D etc. Also US10 in Nike air max 90, 95, 97, most Js, blazers, uptempos, but not modern basketball shoes like kyries or lebrons when I have to go up a size. Chucks in 9.5 if you can get them, with 9 there's still more than 1cm of space in the toebox, but it squeezes my pinky. 10 would feel like clown shoes.

I'm going to continue to stay away from the og chuck 70s. The redux is not bad. CX is the best.

I hope you enjoyed my life story with Chuck. this happens a lot when i take my pain meds

          • @rosebank: thanks man, grabbed a pair of chuck 70's in 9 - i too am 10 in a handful of what you listed…you sure have a nice collection there!

i hope the pain meds aren't for your little pinky :(

            • @pointless martyr: i have cervical radiculopathy and shoulder bursitis, and have to get CT guided cortisone shots between c5-c6, or c4-c5 i can't remember. And ultrasound guided shots into my shoulder

UGH! - got too excited and ordered the wrong size!!

    I hate Premature OzBargaination!

    • What did you get?

      • size 7 for my daughter but she's 8.

Cyber grey high tops for $78 delivered is a great deal.

        • Only bad thing about the converse store is no free returns like adidas, puma and reebok

          • +1

@rosebank: manged to contact them via online form and they said they can change it. phew!

  • Thanks OP. Between this sale and the Footlocker Van's sale I've got enough shoes till I die.

Check out Hype DC if you want Vans. Always on sale, nearly all models

  • Anyones orders been shipped?

    • shipped notification received 4 hours ago (Startrack) to syd

      looks like delivery is tomorrow

      • Seems like SB only tracked at ~$3.5% not 7% ffs
Hardly worth the extra effort most of the time.

    • Not yet, only ordered yesterday
      No SB tracking either.

    • Mine turned up today.
The CX / explore versions are way lighter and bouncier, be interesting to see if they last as long. Still bit narrow style, same as originals but they go ok (for $55 each)
