It shouldn’t even be charged to the consumers in the first place

    • Especially not when you order in-store at Gerry Harvey run dominos franchise.

      • +3

Are there any situations where you would want to order delivery from in-store?

    As hinted at back here

Shrinkflation also… 'Large' is medium sized at best. Stingey with toppings too.

I remember back in the 90s, eating a whole pizza yourself was a mission, now it's meh.

      • +6

Haha yeah, I remember being impressed by people who could do this lol

      • always womdered if this was due to the introduction of their base, which is more like bread than pizza dough.

As I recall being abke to slam down a whole pizza prior to that.

This. How they can call their pizzas 'large' is beyond me. They have certainly fallen a long way from a decade ago.

    • But apparently "to be totally clear" you are just imagining this. How dare you!

Yeah that is some wild gaslighting, their pizzas have absolutely shrunk in size. The last time I ordered was in 2021, and I laughed out loud when I opened the box. All 3 pizzas were comically small, and barely any toppings.

Notice in the ads now they never show a pizza "whole"… all the slices are spaced out evenly with stretchy cheese conveniently covering the gaps. Very deceptive advertising.

I encourage everyone to explore their local pizza shops. I'm so glad I did, I found a local place that has a super simple ordering process on their website (no BS app needed), the pizzas are good size and loaded with toppings. Never looked back.

        • +6

Yep we have moved back to using our local takeaway shop for pizza where a large is probably equivalent to 3 dominoes pizzas.

        • +4

Large has been the size they are since 2017 (10 inch). Toppings may have reduced in the time since, but the pizza base is the same as it's been since 2017.

I don't work there but order enough to know (at least prior to good coupons drying up).

The taste, I feel has changed in the last 6 months though. They often taste like nothing. Not good, not bad, just nothing.

          • @BradH13: Maybe they're getting smaller because we're getting bigger 💀

        • and their shrunken garlic bread

Kept upping the prices and being stingy with the toppings, finally getting the message after everyone found a better option…

    • +4

      What was the better option?

      • +16

        Literally anything

      • +3

Local pizza shops. Not always cheaper, but most of the time better.

I wonder when Australia Post will admit that the rail line between Sydney and Perth has been repaired for over 15 months now…..

    • +8

What's that got to do with the price of pizza?

Your parcel is in transit at Welshpool facility

      • The new Welshpool facility is great now, my last 4 packages have been processed through it the same day rather than 3-4 weeks.

    • When they no longer are busy delivering for Bezos

Those were the days, of which they didn't last long

Any business will do what's necessary to increase their profits - this is just an attempt to boost their sales (short-term loss, long-term gain).

    Their business is down…

This delivery fee was a double dipping cash grab since the pizza already cost more to order delivery compared to pick up.

      I posted below, but I did a test recently after receiving a letter;

      "We received a pamphlet regarding something along the lines of 'No suprise delivery fees' and I did a test in the app at prices;

      10 x Pepperoni pizzas pickup = $70
      10 @ $7.00 ea
      10 x pepperoni pizzas delivered = $146.40
      1 @ $20.94 ea / 9 @ $13.94 ea

How can you justify these prices? Effectively $70+ for delivery.."

      • -5

No, it looks like you're just an idiot.
        1 @ $21, that sounds like $14 delivery
        9 @ $14, you forgot to apply a voucher

        • +1

No coupons on both. $7 is the standard price for pickup for a Peperroni pizza.

It's now increased from $70 pickup to $156.40 for delivery compared to a few weeks ago. An extra $1 per pizza now compared to 19th May.

        Can concur… Pickup for me shows $7 flat per pepperoni pizza for a total $70 for 10, but ordering 10 for delivery splits the order out to $22.95 x 1 + $10.95 x 9 = $121.50

So even assuming the first pizza is covering a $15.95 delivery surcharge (which really should just be a seperate line item), there's an extra $35.55 hidden in that order amongst the other 9 pizzas!

No hidden fees my rear end.

        (Edit: fixed faulty maths)

I don't mind the delivery fee if I get more toppings on the pizza. I suspect with the delivery fee removed topping will be downsized.

  • +3

wonder if there was also a 7% decrease in the size of their pizzas to make up for it. They're already small as.

  • +6

Nope. Not going back. Will stick with pizza hut from now on…the pizza are bigger and they are better anyway.

  • +4

It "not ripping off your customers" now considered a bargain?

  • +1

So what's new in the comments section? Yawn.

  • +3

I picked up a couple of ‘premium’ pizzas with the recent 50% off. Absolutely terrible and completely stingy with toppings, which is a shame as my local was decent in previous years. It was enough for me to not want to order from them again.

    • same.
I predict they will fold soon. it must be elevatable.

  • Does this mean no delivery fee for any order?

  • Pfft, you call this a DEAL?! You call this a deal?

    And people upvoted it too…
