Currently using Xiaomi screen bars, they're very cheap in comparison but I'm not happy with them since it doesn't fit my monitors probably, so hopfully this will lives up to it's price tag. :p

It's a great product and better than any other monitor light on the market. Price good as well.

      Is this a joke product?

Where are you all getting monitors that aren't backlit? Why do you want to shine light on your screen?

      • Asymmetric optical design only illuminates the desk without causing screen reflection

See, this answers your question and is the whole point of the product. And as I said it's the best product on the market while others don't do good at the 'asymmetric'.
And a demonstration for the 'Asymmetric optical design' here

Why do you need to spend $200 just to illuminate your keyboard?

          • @MagnamoniousRex: I have one (cheaper model) at home, more as a light to use whenever I use the desk for anything else (like looking at documents, bit more lumination around the desk for documents, writing notes etc).

          • @MagnamoniousRex: nah you're missing out. you're not just illuminating the keyboard but also the entire workspace around you.

OP, do you have a couple of used Xiaomi bars you want to sell? I want to try them out as bed lamps, mounted peeking over the bed head

    • DM'd you.

      • Interested in one if you're in Sydney

    does this fit AW3423DW?

    • +2

      I use xiaomi on AW3421DW,

Had to design up a riser to make it fit though, it might be similar for the AW3423DW

      • Nice mod :) saved for future reference as I doubt it will fit the new G9 OLED either…

      • Nice job!

$220 for a monitor light is a good deal?! I mean, you can buy an entire second monitor for that, which is far higher tech and far more useful.

I have the Xiaomi- it's very good. Just switched to a much larger monitor that it doesn't fit, so I'll just attach it with some double sided tape.

I also have a Baseus monitor light- it kinda sucks.

    • +1

It's a bit of a luxury item and yeah, value is subjective anyway but I have been holding off for a few years already ever since they released the first model, I was like WTF of the deal of it…

Anyhow, got some room in my budget and $219 seem to be the cheapest for a while… and I do enjoy having a monitor lighting setup, so, why not try it out.

      • +1

Would be interested to read your thoughts on it after delivery.

My Xiaomi light is surprisingly useful for a small desk setup. If double sided tape doesn't work to get it onto my new monitor, I'm just going to buy a desk lamp.

        • +1

I have the Baseus as well, rubbish lights. Upgrade to Xiaomi - so much better. I've owned it for almost two years and i'm extremely happy with it.

i honestly can't imagine this BenQ being much better than Xiaomi…. unless there's RGB feature at around the price i paid for my xiaomi it won't be a worthy upgrade

        • +1

Got it today and had it setup. Compare to Xiaomi, this is next level preimum product. Build material feel more solid than Xiaomi and most importantly fit my monitor properly as it should.

It's a real shame that the Xiaomi ones didn't fit my monitors properly…

          • +1

@v8bargain: Ah, thanks for posting that up. The Xiaomi build is already a definite improvement over the Baseus that I picked up courtesy of an OzBargain deal last month (based on a couple other products I am concluding that Baseus is just cheap shit).

My Xiaomi didn't fit my new monitor until I modded it (3D printed part + hot glue, so it's very ghetto) but now it's fine.

…. just can't ever see myself spending $200 on a light, but still good to know :)

  • Is this the only light bar on the market with both front and back lighting? I can't seem to find anything else that provides the same capability?

  • +1

wowee…i just paid $10 more for a whole new (used) 8500 optiplex

seems a tad overpriced to me!

    • You should post it as a deal :)

  • +1

You are a week late. Was less than $200 sold by Amazon.

    • Are we sure it was the same product? I'd thought 3 camels would show that price but it didn't… Under $200 would be awesome!

  • +2

I was on the fence about this lightbar for ages. I like some quality gear, but the alternatives are so much cheaper. Then someone mentioned the poorly named Quntis in an earlier Benq deal, so I grabbed that and have been really happy with it.

    • IMO these kind of product is heavily subject to how good they mount on the monitor.

Xiaomi's are good enough fit for my partner's LG monitor but not as good fit for my curved Dell monitor and an old BenQ monitor.

    • I have a pair of these (unfortunately-named) Quntis lights and they are great. Bought the 52cm version on Amazon back in 2021 (~$61 each at the time) and had no issues mounting them on top of my dual monitors. Good options with colour temperature and brightness settings.

Removes the need for a desk lamp (or two) so there's less clutter on my desk.

Not sure I would pay $219 for this BenQ light (or $438 for a pair!) with the main difference being the wireless controller, which adds clutter to my desk… but each to their own.

Edit: the other difference I just noticed is the rear-facing light of the BenQ, which is worthless in my case as my desk is not up against a wall, but I can understand how that may be a good feature for others (still not sure I'd pay that much though personally!).

      • I've never understood the appeal of lights mounted on the back of a monitor or TV, but then I'm old fashioned and not into the whole LED-everywhere thing.

But a strip of white LEDs powered via a USB connected is about $10 if someone wants that sort of illumination. That's what people seemed to be doing a couple years back prior relying on monitor front lights anyway.

  • Would this be better than Yeelight LED Screen Light Bar Pro at half the price? That's what I have (got it on sale for under $100) and overall I am happy with it. I use background light all the time, front lamp only sometimes.

    • +1

Don't think too much of this when you're happy with your current one.

  • Does this work well if you normally mount a webcam at the top of your monitor?

    • +1

They have an optional webcam accessory that can be used with the Halo to help attach a webcam to it but I find it also works fine without using it if you have a webcam that can be adjusted.

  • How much power to these actually require, i.e. can I connect it to the USB port on the monitor?
I don't think the cable management on my monitor arms could handle a single extra cable

    • +1

Yes you can connect it to the USB port on the monitor. And it is also recommended - the best thing about this is that when you turn off the monitor, the light will be turned off as well.

      • Awesome, some other brands draw too much power and flicker of you plug them into the monitor

  • +1

Grabbed one after reading some reviews from Chinese social media, here are some for comparison and benchmark. Hope it is helpful

  • Premium price for a premium product that comes with yucky micro-USB port.

Surely they make enough money from it to put an USB-C port?

  • I wish someone make a lightbar that clamps onto the monitor arm, so it floats over the monitor, not sitting on it.

Something like this: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BQW38JCY, but not clamp onto the desk.

  • Price has gone back to $396.52 now

    • +1

$396.52 is the Amazon DE price. If you click "Other buying options", it is still $219 sold by BenQ, ships via Amazon AU

  • Hi OP, do you power it using a USB port on your PC or wall charger?
